Para activar tu código y registrarte, visita www.macmillanpracticeonline.com.
Da clic
aquí para
comenzar.
Una vez activado el código, ve a la página de inicio,
www.macmillanpracticeonline.com, y da clic en ‘Log in’ (Iniciar sesión).
Escribe aquí tu correo electrónico.
Escribe aquí la contraseña que elegiste

Vista general del curso
Al iniciar la sesión, se despliega una vista general del curso. Si tienes activado
más de un curso, elige aquel en el que deseas trabajar en la lista que aparece
del lado izquierdo de la pantalla.
En está sección, se muestra información actualizada del curso, tu progreso
y tus calificaciones:

Cómo unirse a una clase
Puedes usar Macmillan Practice Online para practicar de manera
independiente. Sin embargo, tu profesor puede darte una contraseña para
que te unas a su clase; de esta forma, puede ver tu progreso y calificaciones,
así como enviarte mensajes.
En la vista general del curso:
1. Da clic en ‘Join a class’
(Unirse a una clase).
2. Escribe la contraseña
que te dio el profesor.
3. Da clic en ‘Submit’ (Enviar).
Cómo abrir una actividad
Puedes abrir una actividad de dos maneras:
Opción 1
En la vista general
del curso, da clic en
la casilla de progreso
–roja o verde– de
la actividad que te
interesa.
Opción 2
Da clic en el nombre del
tema/unidad para desplegar
una lista de recursos y ahí

Cada actividad tiene instrucciones. Hay nueve tipos de actividades. Puedes
resolver la misma actividad las veces que lo desees. Tus calificaciones
se guardarán en tu Boleta de calificaciones.

Tu Boleta de calificaciones
Cada vez que completas una actividad se registra una calificación que se
guarda en tu Boleta de calificaciones.
Para ver tus
calificaciones da clic
en ‘Gradebook’ (Boleta
de calificaciones),
en la vista general
del curso.
Para imprimir tus
calificaciones, da clic
en ‘Export’ (Exportar).
La sección ‘Score so far’
(Calificaciones actualizadas)
muestra lo siguiente:
First (Primera vez): el promedio
de tus primeros intentos.
Latest (Última vez): el promedio
de tus intentos más recientes.
Highest (Más altas): el promedio
de tus calificaciones más altas.
Puedes ver la calificación que obtuviste en cada actividad completada:
First (Primera vez): el resultado de la primera vez que completaste la actividad.
Latest (Última vez): el resultado de la última vez que completaste la actividad.
Highest (Más alta): el mejor resultado que obtuviste para esa actividad.
Attempts (Intentos): la cantidad de veces que has completado la actividad.
Si te has unido a una clase, el profesor también puede ver tu Boleta
de calificaciones.

Tus mensajes
Si te uniste ya a una clase en Macmillan Practice Online (véase p. 3),
puedes enviarle mensajes al profesor. Para ver tus mensajes, da clic en el
sobre que aparece en la esquina superior derecha de la pantalla
.
Si tienes mensajes sin leer, aparecerá un número al lado del icono
.
Para crear
un nuevo
mensaje, da
clic en ‘New’
(Nuevo).
Escribe un asunto, el mensaje
y da clic en ‘Send’ (Enviar).
Para leer un mensaje, da
doble clic en su título.
Para elegir un destinatario, da clic
en ‘Add’ (Agregar) y selecciona
al profesor que deseas contactar.
Cómo usar el diccionario
Macmillan Practice Online te da acceso completo al Macmillan English
Dictionary Online. Para entrar y usarlo, da clic en ‘Dictionary’ (Diccionario)
en la parte superior de la pantalla.
Escribe tu duda en la casilla de búsqueda
ubicada en la parte superior izquierda
de la página y da clic en ‘Go’ (Ir).
Si arroja más de un resultado,
da clic en la palabra que necesitas.
Se mostrará la definición, un ejemplo de uso, y podrás escuchar la
pronunciación en inglés americano o británico.
Algunas entradas cuentan
con imágenes en las que
puedes dar clic.
Otras muestran casillas anaranjadas que
contienen información adicional, como
colocaciones, sinónimos y falsos cognados.

Para comenzar
Como maestro, usted podrá ver los temas y lista de recursos de todos
los cursos. Sin embargo, sólo podrá abrir las actividades y ver el progreso
y calificaciones de sus alumnos cuando haya configurado una clase
y sus alumnos se hayan unido a ésta.
1. Cómo crear una cuenta
Visite www.macmillanpracticeonline.com. Dé clic en ‘I am a teacher’
y luego, en ‘Register now’.
2. Cómo iniciar sesión
Después de crear la cuenta, dé
clic en ‘Log in’, en la página de inicio
e ingrese su dirección de correo
electrónico y su contraseña.
3. Cómo configurar una clase
Siga estos pasos para iniciar:
1.En la pestaña ‘Classes’, dé clic en ‘Add a class’.
2.Escriba el título y la descripción de la clase,
y elija los cursos que desea incluir. Tome en
cuenta que los alumnos deberán primero
unirse a su clase para poder tener acceso a
todo el contenido del curso.
3.La contraseña de la clase se genera
automáticamente. Deberá compartir
esta contraseña con sus estudiantes
para que éstos se unan a la clase.
4.Dé clic en ‘Submit’.
5.Dé clic en (×) para cerrar la clase.
6.La clase aparece ahora
en la sección ‘Classes’.

4. Cómo invitar a estudiantes a unirse a la clase
Una vez que los estudiantes hayan activado sus códigos de Macmillan
Practice Online, podrán unirse a su clase. Para poder hacerlo, deberá
compartir con ellos la contraseña única de la clase. Para generar la
contraseña, haga lo siguiente:
1.En la pestaña
‘Classes’, dé clic en
el título del curso.
2.Dé clic en ‘Edit
class details’.
Consulte en la p. 3 cómo se pueden unir sus alumnos a la clase.
Cómo usar Macmillan Practice Online
Los cursos de Macmillan Practice Online se dividen por temas. Si el curso
acompaña un libro de texto de Macmillan, los temas tendrán el mismo
nombre que los capítulos o unidades del libro.
1. Para ver más información,
dé clic en el título del tema/unidad.
2. Dé clic en la sección de
‘language area’ para ver qué
aspecto del idioma abarca
cada tema/unidad.

Actividades
Para poder ver las actividades en un curso, siga una de las siguientes opciones:
Opción 1
Dé clic en el nombre del curso y luego en el
tema/unidad que desea ver. Después dé clic en
el título de la actividad que desea abrir.
Opción 2
En la página de inicio, dé clic en cualquiera de las
casillas grises para tener acceso instantáneo a una
actividad dentro del curso que tiene abierto.
Si no puede abrir las actividades de un curso, puede deberse a que
sus alumnos no se han unido aún a la clase. Consulte en la p. 8 cómo
configurar una clase.
Boleta de calificaciones
Todas las actividades que sus alumnos completen quedan registradas;
usted puede verlas si ellos se han unido a su clase. Para ver las calificaciones
del curso de un alumno, haga lo siguiente:
1. En la pestaña ‘Classes’, dé
clic en el título de la clase.
3.Dé clic en ‘Show
Gradebook’.
2.Dé clic en
‘Student
overview’.
Las calificaciones se registran en formato de porcentaje, excepto para las
Grammar Reference Units, los Sample Essays, los Web Projects y los juegos.
Estas actividades se muestran como ‘Viewed’ o ‘Not viewed’.
Mensajes
Si los alumnos se han unido a su clase, puede usar Macmillan Practice
Online para enviarles mensajes. Consulte la p. 7 para ver más información
sobre cómo usar esta función.

To activate your code, visit www.macmillanpracticeonline.com.
Click here
to begin.
When you have activated your code, go to the home page
www.macmillanpracticeonline.com and click ‘Log in’.
Enter your email address here.
Enter the password you selected when
you activated your code here.
Click ‘Log in’.
Course overview page
When you log in, you will arrive at the course overview page. If you have
more than one course activated, select the course you want to work on from
the list on the left hand side.
The course overview page shows information about the course, your
progress and your scores so far:
Current
average
score
overall.
Course
title and
description.
Your
average
score per
topic/unit.
List of topics
in your course.
Use the red and green boxes to view
your progress. Each box represents
a specific exercise; the boxes are
green if you have completed the activity and red if you have not.
Hover over a box to see the resource type and its title.

Join a class
You can use Macmillan Practice Online to practice on your own. However,
your teacher may also give you a password to join their class so they can view
your progress and scores, as well as send you messages.
From your course overview page:
1. Click ‘Join a class’.
2. Enter the password your
teacher gave you.
3. Click ‘Submit’.
Open an activity
There are two ways to open an activity.
Option 1
Click on the red or
green progress boxes
for that activity on your
course overview page.
Option 2
Click on the name of the
topic/unit to open a list of
resources and then click
on the title.

Complete an activity
Each activity has instructions. There are nine activity types. You can
attempt an activity as many times as you like. Your scores will be saved
in your Gradebook.
Click ‘Listen’ to open the audio box.
Listening activities

Your Gradebook
A score is recorded each time you complete an activity and is saved in
your Gradebook.
To access your
scores click on
‘Gradebook’
on the course
overview page.
To print your scores,
click on ‘Export’.
Score so far shows you:
First: An average of your
first attempts.
Latest: An average of your
most recent attempts.
Highest: An average of your
highest marks.
You can see your score for each activity you have completed:
First: Your result the first time you completed the activity.
Latest: Your result the last time you completed the activity.
Highest: The best mark you have achieved for that activity.
Attempts: The number of times you have completed the activity.
If you have joined a class your teacher can also view your Gradebook.

Your messages
If you have joined a Macmillan Practice Online class (see p 13),
you can send messages to your teacher. To access your messages click
on the envelope in the top right-hand corner of the screen
.
If you have any unread messages a number will appear next to the icon

Double click on a message
title to read it.
To choose a recipient, click on
‘Add’ and select the teacher you
would like to contact.
Using the dictionary
In Macmillan Practice Online you have full access to the Macmillan English
Dictionary Online. To access it click on ‘Dictionary’ at the top of your screen.
Write your entry in
the search box at the top left-hand
side of the page and click ‘Go’.
If there is more than one result,
click on the word you require.
You will see the definition, an example sentence, and have the option to
listen to the American and/or British pronunciation.
Some entry results
have clickable images.
Others will display orange boxes that
contain extra information like collocations,
synonyms and false friends.

Getting started
As a teacher, you will be able to see the topics and resource list for all courses.
However, you will only be able to open the activities, and view your students’
progress and scores, once you have set up a class and students have joined.
1. Create an account
Visit www.macmillanpracticeonline.com. Click on ‘I am a teacher’ and
then on ‘Register now’.
2. Logging in
Once you have created an account,
click on ‘Log in’ from the homepage
and then enter your email address
and password.
3. How to set up a class
Follow these steps to get started:
1.From the ‘Classes’ tab, click on ‘Add a class’.
2.Fill in the title and description of the class
and choose which courses you would like
to associate with it. Please note your
students will have to join your class
before you have access to the full content
of the course.
3.A class password is generated
automatically. You must give
students this password in order
for them to join the class.
4.Click on ‘Submit’.
5.Click on the cross (×) to close the class.
6.You will now be able to see your
class in the Classes area.

4. Invite students to join a class
After students have activated their Macmillan Practice Online codes, they
can join your class. To do this you need to share the class’ unique password
with them. To find the password:
1.From the Classes tab,
click on the course title.
2.Click ‘Edit class details’.
See p 13 for details about how your students can join your class.
Using Macmillan Practice Online
Macmillan Practice Online courses are divided into topics. If the course
accompanies a Macmillan course book, the topics will have the same names
as the chapter or unit titles of the book.
1. To see further
details, click on the
topic/unit title.
2. Click on a language area
to see what language is
covered for each topic/unit.

Activities
To access the activities in a course, you can either:
Option 1
Click on the name of the course and click on the
topic/unit you would like to go to. Then click on the
title of the activity you’d like to open.
Option 2
From your homepage, click on any of the gray
boxes to get instant access to an activity in the
current course you have open.
If you can’t open up the activities in a course, it may be because your students
haven’t joined your class yet. See p 18 for more information about how to set
up a class.
Gradebook
All activities that students complete are recorded and can be viewed
by you if the student has joined your class. To view a student’s course score:
1. From the Classes tab click
on the title of the class.
3.Then click
‘Show Gradebook’.
2.Click ‘Student
overview’.
The scores are recorded as a percentage except for Grammar Reference
Units, Sample Essays, Web Projects and Games which are shown as ‘Viewed’
or ‘Not viewed’.
Messages
If students have joined your class, you can use Macmillan Practice Online
to send messages to them. Please see p 17 for detailed instructions on how
to use this feature.
