World Youth Day in Krakow Poland 2016: A group Youth and Young Adults from the Holy Cross Cathedral, spend some time celebrating Our Catholic faith with Pope Francis and 3 Million Catholic young people from around the world. We need to fundraise for our trip. We will be selling Easter Baskets Small($7) Medium ($15) Large ($20), Religious items and raffles (if you wish your religious article to be Blessed by Pope Francis we will take it with us during our pilgrimage). About The Kidneys: The kidneys are two, fist-sized organs in your lower back. They maintain overall health through the following functions: Filtering waste out of 200 liters of blood each day. Regulating of the body's salt, potassium and acid content. Removing of drugs from the body .Balancing the body's fluids. Releasing hormones that regulate blood pressure. Producing an active form of vitamin D that promotes strong, healthy bones. Controlling the production of red blood cells. Quick Facts on Kidney Disease: Kidney disease is the 9th leading cause of death in the country. More than 26 million Americans have kidney disease, and most don’t know it There are over 95,000 people waiting for kidney transplants. More than 590,000 people have kidney failure in the US today. Prescription for Kidney Health Five pr inciples should be followed by everyone with diabetes to help prevent and treat kidney problems: Tight control of blood glucose levels (A1C less than 7 percent) Tight control of blood pressure: aim for lower than 130/80 Control of lipids: LDL (“bad”) cholesterol should be less than 100 mg/dl, HDL (“good”) cholesterol should be above 50 mg/dl and triglycerides should be less than 150 mg/dl No cigarette smoking Blood pressure-lowering drugs, such as ACE inhibitors or angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs), are effective in protecting the kidney from damage if you have signs of diabetic kidney disease.
