Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Breast cancer is
the most common
cancer among
women in the
United States,
other than skin
cancer. It is the
second leading
cause of cancer
death in women,
after lung cancer.
The ACS recommends the following guidelines for
finding breast cancer early in women
without symptoms:
Clinical breast
exam: Women in
Breast Cancer
Screening, it could save
your life…
Reviso de Cancer de
mama, puede salvar su
vida...
their 20s and 30s
should have a clinical breast exam
(CBE) as part of a
regular exam by a
health expert, at
least every 3 years.
After age 40,
women should
have a breast exam
by a health expert
every year. Mammogram: Women
age 40 and older
should have a
screening mammogram every year
and should keep
on doing so for as
long as they are in
good health. While
mammograms can
miss some cancers,
they are still a very
good way to find
breast cancer.

Mes de sensibilización sobre cáncer de mama
El cáncer de mama es el cáncer
más común entre
las mujeres en los
Estados Unidos,

Flu Awareness Campaign
For more information about
the influenza virus, talk to
your doctor or nurse, visit
www.flu.gov, www.cdc.gov,
or call 800-CDC-INFO
Everyone is at risk for seasonal influenza.
Each flu season, different flu viruses can spread and they can affect people differently
based on their body’s ability to fight infection. Even healthy children and adults can
get very sick from the flu, but certain people are at greater risk for serious complications if they get the flu, Including:
• People 65 years and older
• Children younger than 5, but especially children younger than 2 years old
• People with certain chronic health conditions like asthma and COPD, diabetes
(both type 1 and 2), heart disease, neurological conditions, and certain other
health conditions.
Why get vaccinated against influenza (flu)?
Influenza (flu) is a contagious respiratory disease that can lead to serious
complications, hospitalization, or even death. Anyone can get the flu, and
vaccination is the single best way to protect against influenza. Even healthy
children and adults can get very sick from the flu and spread it to family and
friends.
Flu viruses are constantly changing. Each flu season, different flu viruses
can spread. Getting vaccinated against the flu every season protects against
the three influenza viruses that research indicates will cause the most illness
this season. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
recommends the flu vaccine as the first and most important step in
preventing flu.

Let’s work together to End
the Violence! Nearly 25%
of surveyed women and 8%
of surveyed men, said they
were raped and/or physically
assaulted by a current or
former spouse, cohabiting

adolescents also reports
verbal, physical, emotional,

Health History to Prevent Type 2 Diabetes
(By the National Diabetes

Many serious diseases
run in families, including
diabetes. Talking about

to preventing type 2 diabetes. If you have a
mother, father, brother or

diabetes, you are at risk.
Although you can’t

help you work with your
health care team to take
action on the things you
