Vicky Whipple grew up as an energetic “navy brat” who loved the
outdoors. By the time she graduated from high school she’d gone to 11
schools, all of this despite a learning disability. Later in life, she worked
for the school district’s special education department as a teacher’s
assistant to help students struggling as she did. She wrote her first
published story in second grade and continued her love of writing

El moro Núñez, de la región de Tlayacapán, es lo que se llama en México un “granicero”, una persona
que por una especial cercanía con el rayo, ya sea por accidente o por predisposición de su naturaleza,
adquiere poderes curativos para con los humanos o los animales, y que cuando se acerca la tormenta
recibe a los tlaloques que traen la lluvia para los campesinos.
Los recibe con aroma (copal o incienso), luz de velas, jícara (para dar salida al exceso de agua) y palma
bendita (para espantar los rayos), pero –sobre todo– con un relato que distraiga a los tlaloques de
hacer daño en las cosechas. De la calidad del relato depende la eficacia de la labor del granicero.
SOBRE EL AUTOR
Salvador Núñez Traslosheros nació en México D.F. en el año 1936. Licenciado en Filosofía y Letras
por el Instituto Libre de Filosofía y Letras San Cayetano, Estado de México. Maestro rural en Pilcaya,
Guerrero y en Tlayacapan, Morelos, donde actualmente reside. Fue Regidor de Educación en el

Bajo las sombras del pasado narra la vida de una inmigante mexicana en Estados Unidos, la cual pasó por
innumerables fracasos, pero al caer siempre se levantaba, todo por el amor a sus hijos. Durante su vida buscó el sentirse

Llegó a los Estados Unidos con un 5º año de primaria de México y empezó a trabajar como piscadora en el campo. Aprendió
inglés y estudió la carrera de enfermería.
Fue en la Universidad De Riverside, California, cuando sus maestros descubrieron su talento para escribir y fue becada
para estudiar en la Universidad de Madrid. Sin embargo, su destino la llevó a empresaria de Bienes y Raíces, donde
aprendió que también ahí podía ayudar a los hispanos a vivir mejor y sentir orgullo de su progreso. Todo esto lo pudo hacer
sin descuidar a sus 6 hijos, sin dejar de amarlos y educarlos, dándoles profesión a todos.
Tiene inumerables libros que jamás ha publicado y dos en proceso: ‘Un ángel con las alas rotas”, basado en la vida de su
hijo Rubén que murió a los 37 años de cáncer terminal y ‘From peaches to beaches’, basado en el milagro de vida de su hija
Elva.
SOBRE LA AUTORA
Desde pequeña, la autora creció muy abandonada y encontró el mejor amigo que puede tener un niño: Jesucristo. Ella
nunca le pidió milagros, solamente fuerza física, mental y espiritual. Eso era más que suficiente. Por la misma soledad en
que vivía, pudo apreciar la naturaleza, los animales y lo bello de la creación, y cuando pudo escribir, escribía poemas.
Ama la naturaleza y eso le da mucha inspiración para sus poemas y cuentos de niños. Sabe que los ángeles son sus
compañeros, cree en la reencarnación y sabe que venimos a este mundo a aprender lecciones. Ama a las personas y es muy
sociable, mas por otra parte ama su solitud, donde puede meditar y crear.

About the Book
Illegals is a novel about a subject that has always been very polemic. Author Laura Lavayén
creates the characters trying to make them look real and human. They are all bonded by one
same common situation: forgers of documents, a good lawyer, the coyotes and an immigration
agent as well as the different reasons for them to be illegals, a struggle which brings them
together until the end of the book.
The characters and their own stories are a work of fantasy of the author, however many people
may have lived similar situations or may know someone who has experienced them. For those
humble workers who come without any malice but with one only idea, which is to work
honestly, everything is much easier. Especially when the only arm that they have is their
innocence, which sometimes they lose to become cunning in order to run away from the
authorities and the people that exploit them and take advantage of their naiveté.
About the Author
Laura Laura Lavayén was born in Argentina and has lived more than half of her life between
Philadelphia and New Jersey. She wrote her first book, This Loneliness, in 1974, The Girl
from Argentina in 1976 in English, and Demasiado Mentiras, 1980, in Spanish.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Angel Romero overcame many obstacles to stand firm in his walk with God. He moved to Los Angeles and was
called to serve in the Ministry of Spiritual Deliverance, Healing and Restoration. During a trip to Israel, Romero
met Marcos Brodsky, a Messianic brother who inspired the international ministry “El Olivo.” After this meeting,
Romero and his wife were granted the ministerial shield of “El Olivo.” For a brief period, he and his wife served
in the church “Rey De Gloria” in Whittier, Calif. After this, they departed to Guatemala to join in the country’s
missionary work.
