Family Prayer
L
oving and faithful God, through the
years the people of our archdiocese
have appreciated the prayers and
love of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in times
of war, disaster, epidemic and illness. We
come to you, Father, with Mary our Mother,
and ask you to help us in the battle of today
against violence, murder and racism.
We implore you to give us your wisdom that
we may build a community founded on the
values of Jesus, which gives respect to the
life and dignity of all people.

Canto Final
Un Pueblo que Camina
Estribillo
Somos un pueblo que camina,
y juntos caminando podremos alcanzar
otra ciudad que no se acaba,
sin penas ni tristezas:
1. El Señor nos da su amor
como nadie nos los dio.
Él nos guía como estrella
en la intensa oscuridad.
Al Parr juntos el pan
Él nos llena de su amor,
Pan de Dios,
el Pan comamos de amistad.
2. El Señor nos da su amor
como nadie nos los dio.
Para la gente del pueblo
es el hijo de José.
Con sus manos trabajó
como hacían los demás,
conoció los sufrimientos y dolor.
3. El Señor nos da su amor
como nadie nos los dio.
Y su amor tan grande fue
que lo condujo hasta la cruz,
pero más pudo el amor
que la muerte y el dolor,
vencedor, tres días después resucitó.
4. El Señor nos da su amor
como nadie nos los dio.
En la cruz el Salvador
su propia vida nos donó.
ciudad de eternidad.
1. Somos un pueblo que camina,
que marcha por el mundo
buscando otra ciudad.
Somos errantes peregrinos
en busca de un desno,
desno de unidad.
Siempre seremos caminantes,
pues sólo caminando podremos alcanzar
otra ciudad que no se acaba,
sin penas ni tristezas:
ciudad de eternidad.
2. Sufren los hombres mis hermanos,
buscando entre las piedras
la parte su pan.
Sufren los hombres oprimidos,
los hombres que no enen
ni paz ni libertad.
Sufren los hombres mis hermanos,
mas Tú vienes con ellos
y en Ti alcanzarán
otra ciudad que no se acaba,
sin penas ni tristezas:
ciudad de eternidad.
3. Danos valor para la lucha,
valor en las tristezas,
valor en nuestro afán.
Danos la luz de tu palabra,
que guíe nuestros pasos
en este caminar.
Marcha, Señor, junto a nosotros,
pues sólo en tu presencia
podremos alcanzar
otra ciudad que no se acaba,
sin penas ni tristezas:
ciudad de eternidad.
4. Dura se hace nuestra marcha,
andando entre las sombras
de tanta oscuridad.
Todos los cuerpos, desgastados,
ya sienten el cansancio
de tanto caminar.
Pero tenemos la esperanza
de que nuestras fagas
al fin alcanzarán
otra ciudad que no se acaba,
sin penas ni tristezas:
ciudad de eternidad.

You Are My King (Amazing Love)
1. I'm forgiven
Because You were forsaken
I'm accepted
You were condemned
I'm alive and well
Your Spirit is within me
Because You died
And rose again
Refrain
Amazing love
How can it be
That You my King
Would die for me
Amazing love
I know it's true
It's my joy to honor You
In all I do I honor You
2. You are my King

Communion
There's a wideness in God's mercy
I cannot find in my own.
And He keeps His fire burning
To melt this heart of stone.
Keeps me aching with a yearning,
keeps me glad to have been caught.
In the reckless raging fury
that they call the love of God.
Now I've seen no band of angels
But I've heard the soldier's songs
Love hangs over them like a banner
Love within them leads them on
To the ba,le on the journey
And it's never gonna stop
Ever-widening their mercies
And the fury of His love.
O, the love of God.
O, the love of God.
The love of God.
Joy and sorrow are this ocean
In their ev'ry ebb and flow
Now the Lord a door has opened
That all hell could never close
Here I'm tested and made worthy
Tossed about but liEed up
In the reckless raging fury
That they call the love of God

Like the Bread
Refrain
Like the bread, we are taken.
Like the Christ, we are blessed.
On this altar we are broken,
giv'n as food that all might live,
giv'n as food that all might live.
1. How quickly we reject ourselves,
blinded from our call.
We resign to live in fear
of love, of self, of all.
This is not the will of God,
for the chosen must be free.
We are taken by the love of Christ
to live eternally.
The Love of God
“Dios es rico en misericordia . . .” Efesios 2:4
Divine Mercy Parish
2. Broken like the bread of life,
we oEen flee from pain.
We resign to live our lives,
not knowing death's true gain.
This is not the will of God,
for in dying we will live.
The cross, a sign of victory
and of the healing it will give.
Bridge
Some say it is good to have,
but the faithful learn to give.
Like the saints of old
who lived prepared,
we become like Christ
to feed, to share.

We Believe
1. In this me of desperaon
when all we know is doubt and fear,
there is only one foundaon:
We believe, we believe.
In this broken generaon,
when all is dark, You help us see.
There is only one salvaon;
we believe, we believe.
We believe in God the Father.
We believe in Jesus Christ.
We believe in the Holy Spirit,
and He's given us new life.
We believe in the crucifixion.
We believe that He conquered death.
We believe in the resurrecon,
and He's coming back again.
We believe.
2. So,
let our faith be more than anthems,
greater than the songs we sing,
an our weakness and temptaons
we believe, we believe!
Bridge
Let the lost be found,
Page 6
and the dead be raised;
in the here and now let love invade.
Let the church live loud!
Our God, we'll say,
“We believe! We believe!”
And the gates of hell will not prevail,
For the pow'r of God has torn the veil.
Now we know Your love will never fail.
We believe! We believe!
We believe in God the Father.
We believe in Jesus Christ.
We believe in the Holy Spirit,
and He's given us new life.
We believe in the crucifixion.
We believe that He conquered death.
We believe in the resurrecon,
and He's coming back,
He's coming back again!
He's coming back again.

East Jefferson
Serra Club
Are you one of the few more
good men needed to help
men and women answer
God’s call to the priesthood
or religious vocation? The
East Jefferson Serra Club
would like to get to know you. Please pick up a flier in
the back of church for more information.
East Jefferson Serra Club is part of a global organization of lay Catholic men whose objectives are: to encourage and promote vocations to the ministerial
priesthood in the Catholic Church as a particular vocation to service, and to support priests in their sacred
ministry; to encourage and affirm vocations to consecrated religious life in the Catholic Church; and to assist
its members to recognize and respond in their own lives
to God’s call to holiness in Jesus Christ and through the
Holy Spirit.
“The cross forces us to look upon the fact that we
are loved by God.” Pope Benedict XVl
It would seem that this sentence contradicts itself. We ask
ourselves, “How could a loving God allow this pain that I
feel? Did He not suffer and die for us so that we would not
have to suffer?” We look around the world and see such
terrible suffering imposed on innocent children. Surely that
is not fair! And the answer is no, it is not fair. However, we
must remember that there is great evil in the world which
imposes pain, and evil is a consequence of sin. My sin, your
sin, the sin of the world.
Jesus says, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must
deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.”
Luke 9:23 He never said we would have a carefree life, it is
how we bear difficult times that is important. Jesus once
said to St. Catherine of Sienna, “I created you without you,
but I will not save you without you.” It is through pain and

Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are in the
Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all
things, and I long
for You in my
soul. Since I cannot now receive
You sacramentally, come at least
spiritually into
my heart. As
though You have
already come, I
embrace You and unite myself enrely
to You; never permit me to be separated from You.
