Queridos amigos, bienvenidos a Montenmedio donde estamos a un año de celebrar nuestro 20 aniversario. Dejaremos de ser “ teen agers “ , pero con más ilusión, si cabe,
que cuando empezamos. Claro que hoy, la nueva savia
representada por Teresa mi hija, portadora de la experiencia de una amazona que ha participado en competiciones
internacionales y conocedora desde dentro, del mundo
de la competición.
Este año también hemos mejorado nuestras instalaciones, hemos puesto suelo antideslizante alrededor de las
cuadras, el Giardinetto ha sido redecorado dándole un
ambiente más moderno y acogedor, donde celebraremos
las fiestas nocturnas (sólo para acreditados) La oferta gastronómica será gerenciada por Circuito Hípico del Sol de
nuevo y a precios que os ayudarán a sortear la crisis que
atravesamos.
Y por fin hablamos de lo más importante, las Pistas, las
cuadras, los suministros, los aparcamientos de vehículos y
los caminos de paseos.
- Las pistas de flujo y reflujo que fueron desarrolladas para
el Circuito Hípico del Sol y que gracias a la construcción
de las mismas en Montenmedio, pudieron al fin consolidarse como la mejor tecnología a nivel mundial. Hemos
realizado sobre ellas mejoras con tratamientos y trabajos
que las han convertido en un suelo más elástico y/o flexible y ayudan a una más rápida evacuación de aguas en
caso de fuertes aguaceros.
- Las pistas verdes con las resiembras y tratamientos bajo
la dirección de Green Consultant ofrece un aspecto impresionante, siendo en opinión de muchos el mejor césped para la hípica mundial.
-Las cuadras han sido reparadas, mejoradas y pintadas
manteniendo toda la zona de boxes.
- Hemos instalado suelo antideslizante en la zona de duchas.

- Mantenemos los precios competitivos en los suministros
y servicios, aunque estamos sufriendo una subida en los
impuestos en España.
-Seguimos disponiendo de más de 20kms de caminos de
paseos en los alrededores de la finca con piso firme de
tierra.
Hemos seguido adquiriendo nuevos obstáculos con innovadores diseños, al igual que hemos elegido a los que
consideramos como los mejores jefes de pista del mundo
capaces de hacer de un recorrido una obra de arte, diseñando unos recorridos para nuestros jinetes, amazonas,
potros y caballos que, aparte de velar por su seguridad
establezcan unos trazados armoniosos y flexibles donde
el equilibrio y la buena monta sean premiados.
Seguimos aumentando la dotación de premios ,alcanzando una cifra récord, al igual que se celebrarán más pruebas
que nunca, contando con 5 grandes premios clasificativos para el campeonato de Europa que se celebrara en
Dinamarca y con 12 pruebas puntuables para el Rolex
Ranking.
Visto nuestro éxito en las pruebas de doma desarrolladas
en las pistas 5/6 hemos trasladado dicha disciplina definitivamente a estas instalaciones.
Agradeceros a todos que hayaís confiado un año más, en
nuestra organización formado por el mismo equipo del
año pasado y desearos que paséis unos días inolvidables
en nuestra región, “al sur del sur”, pero una de las más
privilegiadas de Europa, donde podréis disfrutar del sol, la
playa, gastronomía y fiestas.

Dear friends,
Welcome to Montenmedio just one year before our XX
anniversary. We are no “teenagers” anymore, but if it is
possible we are even more excited than at the beginning.
Today, the new spirit is represented by my daughter Teresa,
who has the experience of a rider who has participated in
international competitions and knows this world deeply.
This year, our facilities have been improved, we put non-slip
floor around the stables, the restaurant Il Giardinetto have
been re-decorated, bringing an atmosphere more modern
and cozy, where we will celebrate the night parties (just
for people with accreditation.) The gastronomy offer will
be all managed by the Sunshine Tour again and the prices
are going to be appropriated to the economic crisis.
And finally let me talk about the most relevant; the arenas, the stables, the supplies, the parking and the walking
paths.
The ebb and flow arenas were developed for the Sunshine Tour and made possible that this high technology could
be consolidated thanks to all the improvements made at
Montenmedio.
The grass arena, with the reseeding and the treatment
processes under the management of Green Consultant,
Michel Poncelet, shows a great aspect and the general opinion is that our grass arenas are probably one of the best
in the world.
The stables have been repaired, improved and painted
maintaining all of the stable area.
We have installed non-slippery floor in all of the showers.

We maintain the good prices for the supplies and services,
although we have an increase of the tax in Spain.
We still have more than 20kms of walking paths around the
facilities.
We have many new obstacles and we have chosen the best
course designers, who will be able to make an art work of
every course, making them safe and beautiful.
We have increased the prize money, reaching a record
amount, we will held more classes every week, having five
classes qualifiers for the Children, Juniors and Young Riders
European Championships in Denmark and twelve FEI Rolex
Ranking qualifiers.
After our success in the dressage event last year on arenas
5 and 6, we have definitely settled the dressage competition
in this facilities.
We would like to thank all the riders and people who trust
on us and on our team another year, and to wish you a
wonderful stay in our region “the south of the south”, but
one of the most privileged in Europe, where you can enjoy
the sun, the beach, the gastronomy and the parties.

Nuestras pistas verdes de Bermuda y Ray-Grass con tratamiento
preventivo, fertilización especializada, pinchado, recebado, escarificado, y control de malas hierbas, gracias a Michel Poncelet y a
un equipo especializado de expertos, las han convertido en las
mejores del Mundo. Gracias a estas innovaciones, hemos podido
realizar un nuevo sistema de pistas verdes que hemos patentado
y denominado “Green Revolution”, que esperamos, tras las pruebas y análisis necesarios, comercializar internacionalmente.
Thanks to Michel Poncelet and a team of experts, our Bermuda and
Ray-Grass grass arenas have become the best in the world. They
have been given preventive treatments and specialised fertilization,
been spiked, sliced and top-dressed, and undergone weed control.
Thanks to these innovations, we have been able to create a new
system of grass arenas that we have patented with the name Green
Revolution. Once the necessary tests and analyses have been carried out, we hope to market them worldwide.

Our facilities include the largest and most attractive eventing course
in Spain. Throughout the year we organize two international eventing competitions as well as the Spanish National Championship.
We have achieved a record number of competitors and, thanks to
these competitions, Spanish riders are able to qualify for international competitions such as the European Championship and the
Olympic Games.

From the 29th January to the10th February, the 15th edition of the
Sunshine Tour Dressage Competition
will be held at Dehesa Montenmedio,
in which a large number of Spanish
and Portuguese competitors will take
part. There will be riders from16 different nationalities, proving the major international importance of this
event.

19º Circuito Hípico del Sol
El Circuito Hípico del Sol es la competición hípica invernal más importante de Europa. Comprende las disciplinas de
Salto de Obstáculos y de Doma Clásica. Durante el presente año
2013 se va a celebrar la XIX edición del Circuito Hípico del Sol
de Saltos y la XV edición del Circuito del Sol de Doma. El Circuito
Hípico del Sol es conocido a nivel internacional como Sunshine
Tour.
The Sunshine Tour is Europe’s most important winter equestrian
competition, and it comprises both jumping and dressage.This year,
we will be holding the 19th edition of the Sunshine Tour Jumping
event and the 15th edition of the Sunshine Tour Dressage event.
The original name of the competition in Spanish is Circuito Hípico
del Sol, although it is known internationally by its English name, the
Sunshine Tour.
Conviene destacar que este circuito es utilizado como preparación para el resto de competiciones de la temporada, ya que la
climatología favorable de la provincia de Cádiz propicia esta situación. A diferencia de ello, durante los meses de Febrero y Marzo,
en el Centro y Norte de Europa, el frío y la nieve obligan a los
jinetes a entrenar en picadero cubierto. Por ello, durante estas fechas, la Dehesa Montenmedio con sus magníficas instalaciones, se
convierte en el principal destino para los jinetes internacionales.
Due to the fine winter weather in Cadiz province, the tour
is used to train for the rest of the season’s competitions. In
Northern and Central Europe, the cold weather and snow
means that in February and March riders have to train in indoor arenas. So at this time of year the magnificent facilities
at Dehesa Montenmedio become the top destination for
international riders.
En cuanto a los datos de participación tenemos un total de 1.350
caballos y 360 jinetes en Saltos, y 110 caballos y 54 jinetes en
Doma Clásica, representantes de 48 países diferentes.
A total of 1,350 horses and 360 riders are registered in the
jumping events, and 110 horses and 54 riders in dressage,
riders from 46 different countries will be competing in the
Sunshine Tour this year.
En cuanto a las pruebas, el programa del Circuito Hípico del Sol
de Saltos incluye 177 pruebas repartidas a lo largo de 5 semanas.
Desde la primera a la cuarta semana de concurso se suceden 36
pruebas semanales celebradas de martes a domingo. En la quinta
semana, tienen lugar 35 pruebas ya que se suceden diferentes
finales y se incluye el lunes como día de competición.
Los Martes, Miércoles y Jueves se suceden las pruebas de caballos
jóvenes de 5,6 y 7 años para culminar durante el fin de semana
con la celebración de las pruebas internacionales.
Muchas de las pruebas del Circuito del Sol de Saltos serán calificativas para los Campeonatos de Europa, de adultos que se celebrará en Dinamarca en Agosto, y contamos con 5 pruebas calificativas
para el Campeonato de Europa de Menores que tendrá lugar en
nuestras instalaciones en julio 2013.
The Sunshine Tour Jumping competition comprise 177 classes, spread over five weeks. From the first to the fourth
week of the competition, 36 classes will be held every week,
running from Tuesday to Sunday. During the fifth week, 35
trials will take place, including on Monday, as several consecutive finals will be held.
On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, the classes for 5,
6 and 7-year-old young horses will be held, culminating with
the international classes on the weekend.
Many of the Sunshine Tour jumping classes will serve for
horses and riders to qualify for the Adults European Championships that will be held in Denmark in August 2013, and
5 qualifying classes for the Juniors European Championships
that will be held in our facilities in July 2013.

Dehesa Montenmendio ha tenido el honor de ser
designado por La Federación Ecuestre Internacional (FEI) como sede del próximo Campeonato de
Europa de Menores 2013. Estamos muy contentos de poder dar la bienvenida a Montenemedio a
más de 250 jóvenes competidores, procedentes de
28 países con edades comprendidas entre los 12 y
los 21 años.
La amplias instalaciones de Dehesa Montenmedio son el sitio idóneo para la celebración de una
competición de esta envergadura. Las pruebas de
Children se celebrarán en la pista de arena número 5 Milton, y las pruebas de Juveniles y Jóvenes
Jinetes se disputarán en la pista verde número 3
David Broome.
Dehesa Montenmedio has been assigned to conjointly organise in 2013 the FEI European Jumping
Championships. We are happy to welcome in our
facilities this important competition with more than
250 young competitors coming from 28 different
nations aged from 12 to 21 years.
The outstanding equestrian facilities of Montenmedio is the ideal venue for the celebration of
such an important international competition. The
Children competitions will be held in the sand
arena number 5 Milton and the Junior and Young
Riders competitions will be held in the grass arena
number 3 David Broome.

Enganches
La Copa Ibérica es la competición internacional de Enganches más importante
que se celebra anualmente en España, es una competición ya clásica en el calendario de la disciplina de Enganches, tanto de España como de Portugal, países que
se alternan en el tiempo para albergar la Final.
Las categorías participantes van desde las Limoneras (un caballo) hasta las Cuartas (cuatro caballos) pasando por los Troncos (dos caballos).
Además contamos con la presencia de ponis en las tres categorías anteriormente
citadas.
En esta competición se inscribieron en el año 2012, 33 cocheros y 97 caballos.
Participaron cocheros de 5 nacionalidades diferentes; dos cocheros belgas, dieciséis cocheros españoles, una estadounidense, cinco franceses y nueve portugueses.
La competición de enganches se desarrolla durante tres días en los que se suceden las pruebas de doma el primer día, maratón el segundo y la manejabilidad el
tercero para finalizar la competición.
También organizamos el Campeonato de España y el de Andalucía.
The Copa Ibérica is the most important international horse driving competition
to be held every year in Spain.
It is a classic competition on the driving calendar in both Spain and Portugal,
which take turns to host the Final.
The classes are Limoneras (singles), Troncos (pairs) and Cuartas (four-in-hand).
Ponies will also be competing in the same three categories.
In last year’s competition, 33 drivers and 97 horses registered to compete, with
drivers of 5 different nationalities: two Belgian, sixteen Spanish, one American,
five French and 9 Portuguese.
The driving competition will be held over three days, with dressage on the first
day, marathon on the second and obstacle cone driving on the third, ending
the competition. We will also be organizing the Spanish and Andalusian Driving
Championships.

Las pistas de hierba de Montenmedio
están entre las mejores del mundo
Michel Poncelet es ingeniero agrónomo de
origen belga dedicado a la investigación y la
aplicación de mejoras en las pistas de hierba. Desde el año 2008 ha trabajado en la
modernización y adecuación de las instalaciones de la Dehesa Montenmedio, posibilitando unas notables mejoras en las pistas
que favorecen la seguridad y la calidad de
la competición. Su pasión por el mundo del
caballo ha hecho que se implique al 100%
en conseguir que Montenmedio tenga unas
de las mejores pistas verdes del mundo.
1. - Desde el año 2009 ha desarrollado
labores de asesoramiento junto al equipo
técnico y directivo de Montenmedio, con
unos resultados espectaculares y una evolución radical de las pistas verdes. ¿Cuáles
han sido los principales avances obtenidos?
Todo se ha replanteado en Montenmedio
desde que comenzamos a trabajar aquí. No
hace falta más que observar las fotos de
las pistas en aquel momento para percibir-

lo. Nosotros nos basamos en análisis del
tamaño de las partículas para cambiar, en
parte, la composición física del suelo y el
análisis químico para determinar las reservas o deficiencias de los nutrientes de la
hierba. La composición botánica de la base
era catastrófica. Tuvimos que replantearnos
qué tipo de hierbas podríamos usar para
que estuvieran adaptadas al clima local en
el periodo de invierno, cuando se celebra el
Sunshine Tour aunque no fueran muy resistentes al verano andaluz.
Fue algo completamente
novedoso, muchos han intentado copiar nuestra técnica aunque sin éxito. Ese es
precisamente nuestro trabajo. Nada es traspasable

Blázquez la confianza que han tenido en
nosotros. En aquel momento fuimos realmente innovadores. Tanto que muchos han

tipo de suelo, del uso que y del mantenimiento.

Las pistas de hierba de Montenmedio están
consideradas unas de las mejores del mundo. No somos nosotros los que lo decimos
sino que es algo muy comentado entre los
usuarios del más alto nivel. Trabajamos con
material vivo y se necesita tiempo para obtener los mejores resultados. Cada año seguimos trabajando para obtener los mejores
resultados de forma directa con los investigadores que desarrollaron la mejor hierba
del mundo. Por ello creemos que los usuarios tienen conciencia del esfuerzo realizado
en estos años. Estamos muy orgullosos de
los resultados positivos y del reconocimiento
obtenido.
3. Con su investigación como ingeniero
agrónomo ha aportado mucho para que el
Circuito Hípico del Sol esté en las mejores
condiciones para celebrar su XIX edición.
Pero, ¿Qué le ha aportado el Circuito a usted, personal y profesionalmente?
Esta es una de las competiciones más grandes del mundo y también la más larga de
Europa en ambos aspectos: tanto en el número de participantes como en su duración.
Por lo tanto estamos ante un gran reto porque, además, contamos con la participación
de los mejores jinetes en el mundo. Estamos
muy orgullosos de forma parte de la organización de esta magnífica competición. Tan
solo somos una pequeña parte de esta or-
ganización. Todo el mérito es de Teresa y su
equipo. Está claro que desde que nosotros
hemos llevado nuestro soporte técnico a las
pistas de Montenmedio nos han consultado
desde todo el mundo. Nuestros conocimientos demuestran que es posible tener buenas
pistas de hierba durante mucho tiempo.
4. ¿Cuál es el estado actual de las pistas para
las importantes competiciones que se celebrarán en este circuito en 2013? ¿Estarán las
pistas en perfecto estado para el Campeonato de Europa?
Destaca la dificultad e importancia de nuestra misión. No tendremos el mismo tiempo
en febrero y marzo para el Circuito Hípico
del Sol que en junio para el Campeonato
de Europa. Antes de la competición europea,
cambiaremos la hierba existente actualmente e instalaremos hierba resistente a altas
temperaturas. Esto es exactamente lo que
hacemos: ingeniería agrónoma. Hacemos lo

5. Usted ha desarrollado un nuevo sistema
para las pistas de hierba denominado ‘Sport

La hierba es una superficie muy utilizada por
los jinetes de élite pero los errores en su
construcción y mantenimiento decepcionan
a los jinetes y a los dueños de las pistas y organizadores, por lo que a menudo son reemplazadas por superficies de arena. Nuestro
conocimiento sobre el caballo, pistas y avanzadas técnicas agrónomas nos han permitido
desarrollar un producto muy interesante.
Nosotros ofrecemos un sistema en el que el
nivel del agua es automáticamente controlado, permitiendo una distribución uniforme
de la humedad y el desalojo del agua de lluvia
gracias a un sistema de drenaje novedoso y
eficiente, controlado a través de ordenador.
Además, buscamos los mejores sustratos y
fibras. Son pistas que, además, tienen un alto
nivel de seguridad, disminuyendo los riesgos
para los jinetes y caballos. Todo ello nos permite construir pistas en todo el mundo con

in grass surfaces. Thanks to his passion for
horse driving he made possible the construction of possibly the best grass surfaces
for horses in the world. Since 2008 he has
been working together with Dehesa Montenmedio in consultancy for the modernization and improvement of the grass arenas.
1. Since 2009 you have been doing an advisory work with the technical and managing
team of Montenmedio to get this awesome
results of an incredible grass footing. Which
ones have been the principal goals?
When you have used our services ALL had

therefore a terrible challenge because we

world. We are proud to be part of the organization of this magnificent competition. We
are only a small part of this organization. All
credit goes to Teresa and her team. It is clear
that since we bring our technical support for
grass arenas in Montenmedio we are consulted worldwide. Our expertise proves it is
possible to have very good grass arenas for
a long time.
4. How is the current state of the arenas for
the important competitions that are taking
place in 2013? Will the arenas be in perfect
state for the European Championship after
the Sunshine Tour?

5.You have developed a new grass arena system “Sport Graz Evolution” with an automatic drainage system. What are the benefits of
this system?
Building and maintenance errors of such
facilities often discourage managers or owners of grass arenas. We are so often in the
presence of grass arenas with very bad quality and therefore so quickly replaced by sand
arenas.
Our knowledge of horses, of soil and

ZportGraZ R presents a new concept: the GREENEVOLUTION
The general principle of this system is placed in a watertight basin piping system connected to a porous network of pumps
and covered with a special substrate on
which will be located the specific grass. The
base system is already controlled by a computer that regulates the water level.
The advantages of GREENEVOLUTION from ZportGraZ R basic system are:
1. No need to prepare a foundation. The riding area can be set up on natural or existing soil (concrete, rocks,...). You can dispense with the use of compacting material such as chippings.

2. The water level inside the ring is automatically controled via the shaft and pit with its
connections to a basic computer device. This entirely new system brings many positive points uncontrollable so far:
- No watering on the surface and therefore a decrease in water consumption compared to conventional watering (external
sprinklers) to over 70% in countries excessively hot. Better! The presence of grass limits evaporation and water needs of such a track are less
than on a sand track (to be linked with
the type of grass used).

- No installation of sprinklers located superficially so no risk of damaging them and certainly no risk for the horses.
- This is the only system that allows an uniform and an constant distribution humidity of the ring, whatever the weather.

water may be transferred to a natural outlet or be kept in a holding tank (or pond) for

que viene desarrollando desde 1984 le ha
permitido alcanzar un nivel 4, uno de los
pocos expertos en la materia que lo han
conseguido a nivel nacional. Su brillante papel en el Campeonato de Europa de 2011
lo situó entre uno de los Jefes de Pista más
prestigiosos y mejor valorados internacionalmente. Tras el éxito obtenido el pasado
año en el diseño del Invitational, test de primer nivel para el que posteriormente fue
el Oro Olímpico, Steve Guerdat. Este año
volverá a desarrollar su trabajo en Montenmedio, tanto en el Sunshine Tour como en

A la vista está, se ha convertido año tras
año en una de las mejores rutas de invierno
del mundo y lo que es más importante, se
ha mantenido vivo, mejorando y así sigue
su progresión.
Eso todavía está por ver, falta tiempo y hay
que ir adaptando algunas cosas. En cualquier caso, los recorridos del Sunshine Tour
2013 dependen en parte de lo que hagan
los demás diseñadores los fines de semana
anteriores, por lo que finalmente lo ajustaré
a última hora. En cualquier caso, en esencia
el concepto es parecido al año pasado.
Lo del Campeonato es otra historia y estaría feo que lo descubriera a estas alturas.
¿Cuáles han sido las claves técnicas para
que Montenmedio alcance la calidad y el
prestigio que ostenta?
Sus pistas, que son realmente excepcionales, su buen material y la variedad y calidad
de Diseñadores que ha utilizado y sigue
utilizando, las tres cosas en conjunto han
permitido alcanzar y mantener el prestigio
que ahora ostenta.
- ¿Hay alguna cualidad especial en las pistas
del Sunshine Tour o, especialmente, en la
pista central David Broome?
Es probablemente una de las mejores pistas verdes que he visto en mi vida. En realidad por su elasticidad y firmeza, parece
un trampolín, los caballos no se cansan de
avanzar y van día a día progresando en el
salto. Por otra parte, la pendiente le añade unas posibilidades técnicas relacionadas
con el equilibrio que te permiten graduar
los niveles de dificultad de cada prueba de
forma insospechada.
Es fantástica!
- ¿Cómo consigue adaptar tan magistralmente la dificultad de los recorridos con
la gran diversidad de jinetes que se dan cita
en estos campeonatos gaditanos, llegados
desde una gran variedad de países de todo
el mundo y con niveles muy diferentes?
A ver, esta es una pregunta difícil por que
yo no considero que haga nada magistral.
Uno le pone todo el cariño a su trabajo,
trata de favorecer a los caballos y buscar
el test para los jinetes, que finalmente son
los que deben elegir su opción, pero siempre debe de existir al menos una opción
correcta. El resto lo hace la suerte, pero si
cuando diseñas piensas en favorecer el salto de los caballos, el espectáculo lo ponen
los jinetes.

Santiago Varela is one of the most important course designers in Spain. Thanks to
the good job he has been doing since 1984,
he has achieved a 4 level, a level that not
many experts in his branch get. The success that he got the last year in the design
of the Invitational, a course of first level for
the Olympic gold champion, Steve Guerdat. He had a brilliant role in the European
Championship in 2011 in Madrid becoming
one of the most prestigious and best appreciated international course designers.
This year Santi is going to work in Montenmedio for the Sunshine Tour and for the
European Children, Junior and Young Riders
Championships.
1. You have a close relationship with Montenmedio since the beginning. What does
Montenmedio bring to you personally and
professionally?
Montenmedio is a special place for me. Really, it has been one of the first places where
the competition is designed to take care of
the riders and maintaining the top-quality
of the competition. It is an honour to design the courses and work with the human
team in Montenmedio. If I should say what I
have been doing in Montenmedio all these
years, I would say I have been learning and
enjoying at the same time.
2. What would you stand out on the evolution of Sunshine Tour in almost the twenty
years that is taking place?
It is clear. Year after year it has been able to
become one of the most relevant Winter
Tours in the world. And what is most important, it stays alive, improving and learning at the same time as enjoying.
3. What do you emphasize of the courses
that you are designing for the Sunshine Tour
2013 and the European Championship?
Montenmedio is a special place for me. Really, it has been
one of the first places where
the competition is designed
to take care of the riders and
maintaining the top-quality of
the competition.
We will see. I have to wait a bit and I should
adapt some things. Anyway, I will be designing in the Sunshine Tour the last week, so I
have to wait and see what the rest of court
designers are doing the weekends before,
so at the last moment I will adapt my courses. But anyway, it will be similar to the last
year.

Luis Álvarez Cervera es uno de los jinetes más importantes a nivel nacional y uno
de los deportistas españoles que en más
ocasiones ha participado en los Juegos
Olímpicos, consiguiendo en ellos numerosos diplomas que acreditan su gran calidad.
Además, compagina su actividad deportiva
con la docente, así como con la cría de caballos de deporte y de carreras. Es uno de
los atletas más importantes a nivel internacional que entrará en competición en el
XIX Sunshine Tour y que, además, no suele
fallar a su cita anual con Montenmedio.
1. Usted es un jinete fiel a Montenmedio.
¿Cuántas veces ha participado en el Sunshine Tour y cuáles han sido los hitos más
importantes conseguidos en esta competición?
Desde que se inauguró este gran evento
solo he faltado un año a la cita de Montenmedio. Por lo tanto he sido testigo del
crecimiento y evolución de este torneo hípico tan apreciado en el mundo entero.
3. Una vez completada la participación
prevista del XIX Sunshine Tour, con unos

mundo en competición, ¿qué destacaría de
esta competición, de su nivel y sus estándares de calidad?
El nivel de competición y los medios que
se ofrecen para competir están en unos
estándares difíciles de superar. Las pistas,
tanto las de hierba como las de arena y
fibra, son excelentes. Los directores técnicos son de primera línea. El personal, tanto
de pistas como de oficina y suministros,
hace lo posible porque la estancia de los
jinetes y sus acompañantes sea una experiencia realmente agradable. La restauración ha mejorado mucho en los últimos
años y se ha adecuado a la situación económica actual.
En el aspecto deportivo me remito a un
ejemplo: el conjunto que ganó la medalla
de oro en Londres hizo parte de su puesta
a punto en esta competición, que culmino
ganando el Invitational de Montenmedio.
2. ¿Cuáles son sus objetivos para el 2013 y
cuál es el papel de Montenmedio en esta
temporada para usted?

Since this event was inaugurated I was
just absented one year. So, I have been
present to watch the growth and evolution of this appreciated horse show
worldwide.
3. Now, the expected participation is
completed, with a total of 1.300 horses
and the best riders worldwide. What
would you stand out of this competition,
of its level and its qualities standards?
The level of the competition and the facilities offered to compete are difficult
to surpass. The arenas are great. The technical managers are the best. The staff
working in the office, the arenas and the
supplies try their best to make riders
and family stay in Montenmedio very
pleasant. The restaurant business has
improved the last years, and it has been
adapted to the economic situation.
On the sport aspect I refer only to an
example: the horse-rider who won the
gold in London made part of their setup of the season in this competition and
the ended up winning of the Invitational
GP in Montenmedio.
2. What are your goals for 2013 and
which one is Montenmedio’s role on
this edition for you?
4. What is bringing Montenmedio to the
national riders?
My goals are to be there, to watch my
son Eduardo compete. And, if it is possible, maybe I will compete in some classes.
I think that the contribution of Montenmedio and its courses have made

valuable experience.
