Pero nuestras comunidades no son franquicias locales de alguna empresa internacional. Somos familia, hermanos y hermanas en un mismo bautismo, no en nombre de una doctrina, sino en nombre de una comunidad de personas: el Padre, el Hijo, y el Espíritu Santo. Recientemente el Papa Francisco dijo que la fe es algo personal y no una idea teórica. Nuestro Dios es, en efecto, todopoderoso y eterno, pero también es íntimo y personal, una comunidad de personas, que vienen personalmente a nuestro encuentro. En el Credo niceno declaramos que Jesús es el “Hijo único . . . nacido del Padre antes de todos los siglos”. Pablo dice que Jesús es “la fuerza y la sabiduría de Dios” (1 Corintios 1:24). Pero hoy los Proverbios comunican la misma verdad menos abstractamente y de una manera mucho más personal: “Yo [la sabiduría] estaba junto a [Dios] como arquitecto de sus obras, yo era su encanto cotidiano; todo el tiempo me recreaba en su presencia, jugando como el orbe de la tierra y mis delicias eran estar con los hijos de los hombres” (Proverbios 8:30–31). Pablo también “personaliza” el Espíritu: “Dios ha infundido su amor en nuestros corazones por medio del Espíritu Santo, que él mismo nos ha dado” (Romanos 5:5). Hoy Jesús promete que “el Espíritu de la verdad . . . los irá guiando hasta la verdad plena” (Juan 16:13). Parte de ese guiar es la promulgación del Año Jubilar de la Misericordia por parte del Papa Francisco, el cual ha escrito que la misericordia revela el misterio de la Santísima Trinidad, puesto que nos muestra que Dios es dador de vida, que comparte el amor personal de su comunidad y llena nuestros corazones con la seguridad de que, a pesar de nuestro pecado, somos amados de una manera personal y para siempre.
