Within us we have
something
called
conscience. We are able to
reflect, to enter within
ourselves distinguish
between what is good and
evil. Once we have acted,
if we have done well, our
consciousness gratifies us, if
we have done wrong, it
looms in our conscious. The remorse of the conscience goes
beyond whether others did or did not realize our evil act.
Perhaps others did not see, but we did see ourselves, and
we know that God also saw. So we are aware that we are
sinners and we feel unworthy before God, but others who
live with us would never imagine that we sin.
Catholics’ have been taught since the first
communion that sin separates us from God, we can not eat
and drink unworthily the Body and Blood of Jesus, and
then we have to resort to the Sacrament of Reconciliation
to express our sincere repentance and regain grace in the
forgiveness of Jesus meant by sacramental absolution.
San Pedro was aware of being a sinner (Lk 5: 111) and spontaneously pronounces some words that might
be from each of us: "Depart from me for I am a sinner."
And the answer of Jesus is merciful; not only does He not
depart from Pedro, but He calls him and makes Pedro
fisher of men, He makes him his apostle and makes him the
Rock on which builds his Church. Jesus came for sinners.
We are sinners, every one of us, but if we assume
from our sins and we are happy to them because we are
not only sinners, but corrupt. We put to sleep our
consciousness and we have invented a new moral for us:
what is good for me.
We are all sinners, but if our sins hurt us if we are
repentant, if we can recognize the goodness of our
heavenly Father and His love for us and if we are able to
feel ashamed of our lack of correspondence to his fatherly
love, then we have an advocate in heaven who reconciles
us with the Father, Jesus Christ (cfr. 1 John 2: 1).
Jesus wants our help, he call us, and called us by
our baptism, to be fishers of men, to cast the nets in the
name of Jesus and to pick a good catch. He does not care
that we are sinners until we are cynical and until we have
killed our consciousness. And yet, he knows very well how
to raise the dead.
We hear the voice of Jesus, see his wonderful
signs and let us be drawn to him to perform a miracle and
more friendly to forgive.

Dentro de nosotros
tenemos algo que se llama
conciencia. Somos capaces de
reflexionar, de entrar dentro
de nosotros mismos y de
saber distinguir entre el bien
y el mal. Una vez que hemos
actuado, si lo hemos hecho
bien, la conciencia nos
gratifica, si lo hemos hecho
mal, nos remuerde. El
remordimiento de conciencia
va más allá de si otros se dieron cuenta o no de nuestro mal
actuar; otros no nos vieron, quizá, pero nosotros sí nos
vimos, y sabemos que Dios también. Por eso tenemos
conciencia de que somos pecadores y nos sentimos indignos
ante Dios, aunque los demás que viven con nosotros ni se
imaginen que hayamos pecado.
A los católicos nos enseñan desde nuestra primera
comunión que el pecado nos aparta de Dios, que no
podemos comer y beber indignamente del Cuerpo y la
Sangre de Jesús y que, entonces, tenemos que recurrir al
sacramento de la Reconciliación para manifestar nuestro
sincero arrepentimiento y recobrar la gracia divina con el
perdón de Jesús significado por la absolución sacramental.
San Pedro fue consciente de ser un pecador (Lc 5, 1
-11) y pronuncia espontáneamente unas palabras que
podrían ser de cada uno de nosotros: “Apártate de mí
porque soy un pecador”. Y la respuesta de Jesús es
misericordiosa; no sólo no se aparta de Pedro, sino que lo
llama y lo hace pescador de hombres, lo hace su apóstol y
lo hace la Roca sobre la que edifica su Iglesia. Jesús vino
por los pecadores.
Somos pecadores, todos y cada uno de nosotros,
pero si presumimos de nuestros pecados y nos sentimos
contentos en ellos, ya no sólo somos pecadores, sino
corruptos. Hemos puesto a dormir nuestra conciencia o
hemos inventado una nueva moral para nosotros: es bueno
lo que me conviene.
Todos somos pecadores, pero si nos duele nuestro
pecado, si nos sentimos arrepentidos, si somos capaces de
reconocer la bondad de nuestro Padre del cielo y su amor
hacia nosotros y si somos capaces de sentir vergüenza de
nuestra falta de correspondencia a su amor paternal,
entonces tenemos un abogado en el cielo que nos reconcilia
con su Padre, Cristo Jesús (Cfr. 1 Jn 2, 1).
Jesús quiere tener nuestra ayuda, nos llama, ¡nos
llamó ya por nuestro Bautismo!, a ser pescadores de
hombres, a lanzar las redes en nombre de Jesús y a
recoger una buena pesca. No le importa que seamos
pecadores, mientras no seamos cínicos y mientras no
hayamos asesinado nuestra conciencia. Y, aún así, el sabe
muy bien cómo resucitar a los muertos.
Oigamos la voz de Jesús, veamos sus signos
maravillosos y dejémonos atraer por él para que realice
una vez más el amable milagro de perdonarnos.

Esta visita que hace a México es
esperanzadora, Esperamos que su palabra

los secuestradores y de cada Mexicano que
es fiel a la fe y a la Patria. Que la semilla que
siembre eche raíces, germine y produzca
mucho fruto para el bien de México.
