Holy Family Sunday (Cycle C)
Pastor’s Corner
The readings of this last weekend of the year remind us of the Holy Family. Jesus
and His parents lived for each other. They did not want to live selfishly separated.
Rather they lived to love each other, to help each other, to make each other happy
by serving the Father God. Selfishness kills love. Selfishness brings loneliness and
bitterness to our lives. Do we feel alone? Is it perhaps because we never have a
loving word for anyone? Do we know how to be loving and affectionate? Unless we
do, we will never receive love and affection from others.
The Holy Family was both rich and poor; they were united but had to suffer the
pain of separation; they were happy but they also new sadness. May Jesus remove
selfishness from us. May Mary make us sweet and tender in our dealings with
others. May Joseph teach us to be helpful and kind, so that we may bring peace and
calm to all hearts.

Jesus comes to our hearts today. Let us think that Mary and Joseph come with Him,

Este último fin de semana del año las lecturas nos recuerdan la fiesta de la Sagrada
Familia. Jesús y sus padres vivían el uno para el otro. Ellos no quisieron vivir su vida
separadamente, egoistamente. Vivieron para amarse, para ayudarse, para hacerse felices
sirviendo al Padre Dios. El egoismo es lo que mata el amor. El egoismo pone en nuestras
vidas soledad y amargura. ¿Nos sentimos solos? ¿No será porque nosotros nunca tenemos
una palabra de cariño para nadie? ¿No sabemos dar afecto y amor? Nunca lo recibiremos
de los otros.
Como aquella familia de Nazaret era pobre y rica, era unida pero que tuvo que sufrir la
pena de la separación, era alegre, pero también conoció la tristeza. Que Jesús nos quite el
egoismo, María nos haga ser dulces y tiernos para tratar a los demás, José nos enseñe a
ser serviciales y amables para poner en el corazón de todos paz y tranquilidad.
Hoy vendrá Jesús a nuestro corazón. Pensemos que María y José vienen con él.
Invitemosles a quedarse con nosotros para que nos enseñen a amar, a sufrir y a convivir.
A nombre del P. Damian y un servidor quiero darles las gracias a todos y desearles un año
abundante de bendiciones para ustedes y sus familias. ¡Feliz Año Nuevo!
También queremos felicitar y agradecer a todos los voluntarios de todos los ministerios y
hacerles una invitación especial para nuestra fiesta anual de la Epifanía. Que el Señor los

June and reported on our Grove for Ghana initiative.

Music rings everywhere this holiday season and what
better place to hear those sounds than at the Saint
Hugh School’s annual Christmas concert. This year’s
production was held on December 15th and was
entitled “A Classical Christmas Concert”. Student’s
showcased their musical talent with performances of
classics like “Carol of the Bells”, and excerpts from “A
Christmas Messiah by Handel”. The performance also
included dance numbers from our ballet and flamenco
dancers and concluded with the story of the nativity
with a modern twist. We want to thank our music
teacher/director Vanessa Gentzschein for sharing her
passion of music with the children and Ms. Heydi
Pinero her love for dance.
