“Message from our Pastor”
What does the Word say?
The spirit of grace and mercy, if good, passes through mourning and crying, it is a spring of water that washes away sins
(first reading), it is thirst calms by the grace that helps and creates communion of life (Psalms), it is being re-clothed in
Christ so all will be one in Jesus Christ (second reading), it is participating, by negating oneself in the destiny of the crucified
and resurrected Jesus (Gospel).
A possible actualization of the Word
From a social-cultural perspective, where all type of well-being is promoted, happiness, diversion and leisure, even though
we all know that these propositions hide only the economic interest of a few, we finish by effectively believing that life must
be taken advantage of living all type of the ludicrous experiences. It is as if life is identified with the accumulation of fun and
stimulating experiences, those which the center is “one self” “enriched and satisfied” by it in return. “All experiences are
enriching” they finish by being an expression of a consuming society of “use and toss away” until the next succulent plate.
The only compromise possible is money that in the end, is what will permit me said experiences. Will the affirmation of
Jesus be present to say “the one who wants to save his life will lose it?”
From a personal perspective, the instinct of
self-preservation leads us to avoid pain, that is to say that no one likes to suffer, and there is no reason to like it, even though
some want to sell it as something “pleasurable”. It is also true that it is understood in past times that pain by itself was a cross
that God sent to those he loved. Clarifying this point; there is confusion that the corss that Jesus asks us to carry “for him and
for his cause” with any type of pain, suffering and sickness is overcome in life. Before this pain, Jesus demonstrated to us
that the love of God curing the sick, expelling demons and giving us the commandment of fraternal love. But since many
still continue to want to “live life”, the cross continues to appear in the horizon of those that want to be disciples of Jesus:
“The Son of man has to suffer more, by being thrown out by those that want to continue to “live life” we can say paraphrasing the gospel, why “the center” are them and not the rest”.
What does the Word say
Maybe it is a good way to again plant my availability and freedom: Is the grace, for me, is to feel redressed by Christ to be
able to carry the cross every day? Or in other words: Do I live in such a way “outside of myself”, decentralized, in order to
look and live for Jesus’ cause? It is not enough to ask myself, if I live the pains of life like the cross that I must carry, if not,
am I prepared to follow Jesus in spite of the implication of no longer “living life” so it doesn’t escape.
My response to the Word goes in the measurement of, am I capable to confess to Jesus “the Messiah of God” the center of
my life that for through salvation frees me and makes me capable to decentralize myself.
We await you this Sunday to celebrate together the banquet that makes it capable to satisfy our thirst.

Archbishop Jose Gomez as associate pastor for St. Rose of
Lima church. This means he will no longer be with us as of July.

and above all, we accompany him with our prayers on this new
mission he’s been commissioned on.

Protect kids from bullying while playing online
The pace of online gaming is only growing. There is a small but real chance
that victimization could occur when kids play and interact with others on
phones, tablets, laptops, desktops and gaming consoles. A helpful way to
teach children about handling problems is to encourage them to report issues
when they arise. Internet service providers and gaming networks have systems set up to field complaints of abuse and then investigate them (in conjunction with law enforcement, when necessary). For more tips on how to
help protect young people from vulnerabilities while playing online please

¿Qué dice la Palabra?
El espíritu de gracia y clemencia, si bien pasa por el luto y el llanto, es manantial que lava los pecados (primera lectura), es la
sed calmada por la gracia que auxilia y crea comunión de vida (salmo), es ser revestidos de Cristo para ser todos uno en Cristo
Jesús (segunda lectura), es participar, por la negación de sí mismo, en el destino del crucificado y resucitado (Evangelio).
Una posible actualización de la Palabra
Desde una perspectiva socio-cultural, donde se fomenta todo tipo de bienestar, felicidad, diversión y ocio, aunque todos sabemos que estas propuestas esconden solamente los intereses económicos de unos pocos, acabamos por creernos que efectivamente la vida es aprovecharla al máximo viviendo todo tipo de experiencias lúdicas. Es como si la vida se identificara con la
acumulación de experiencias agradables y estimulantes, en las que el centro es “uno mismo” “enriquecido y satisfecho” por el
entorno. "Toda experiencia enriquece" acaba siendo una expresión de la sociedad consumista del “usar y tirar” hasta el próximo plato suculento. El único compromiso posible es con el dinero, que a fin de cuentas es el que me va a permitir hacer dichas
experiencias. ¿Andará por ahí la afirmación de Jesús al decir que “el que quiera salvar su vida la perderá”?
Desde una perspectiva personal, el instinto de sobrevivencia nos lleva a evitar el dolor, eso por no decir que a nadie le gusta
sufrir, ni tiene por que gustarle, aunque algunos lo quieran vender hasta como algo “placentero”. Es cierto que también se ha
entendido en tiempos pasados que el dolor por sí mismo era la cruz que Dios mandaba a las personas que él amaba. Aclarémonos en este punto. Se confundió la cruz que Jesús nos pide llevar “por él y por su causa” con cualquier tipo de dolor, sufrimiento, enfermedad, que en la vida sobreviene. Ante este dolor Jesús nos mostró el querer de Dios curando a enfermos, expulsando a los demonios y dándonos el mandamiento del amor fraterno. Pero como muchos siguen queriendo “vivir la vida”, la
cruz sigue apareciendo en el horizonte de aquellos que quieren ser discípulos de Jesús: “El Hijo del hombre tiene que padecer
mucho, ser desechado por los que quieren “vivir la vida” podríamos decir parafraseando el evangelio, porque “el centro” son
ellos y nos los demás".
Qué me dice la Palabra
Quizás es una buena manera de volver a plantearme mi disponibilidad y libertad: ¿La gracia es para mí el sentirme revestido
de Cristo para estar dispuesto a cargar la cruz cada día? O, en otras palabras: ¿vivo talmente “fuera de mi”, descentralizado,
como para buscar y vivir por la causa de Jesús? No es tanto preguntarme si vivo los dolores de la vida como la cruz que tengo
que llevar, sino si estoy dispuesto a seguir a Jesús a pesar de que eso implique dejar de “vivir la vida” para que no se me escape.
Mi respuesta a la Palabra va en la medida en que sea capaz de confesar a Jesús como “El Mesías de Dios”, el centro de mi vida, que por la salvación que me libera, me capacita para descentralizarme.
Te esperamos este Domingo para celebrar Juntos el banquete capaz de saciar nuestra sed.
