THE ASCENSION OF THE
LORD

The Ascension of Jesus Christ
marks the definitive entrance of Jesus'
humanity into God's heavenly domain
where he will return (cf. Acts 1: 11).
Although, in the meantime, He hides
from the eyes of men (cf. Col 3, 3). (CEC
665), says the Catechism of the Catholic
Church, explaining this moment in which
He, being God, became man to save
mankind, returns to heaven where he
came from.
He has not left to exclude Himself from this world, but
rather to precede us, so that we, members of His body, live
with the fervent hope to follow Him to His kingdom. The
Ascension of the Lord’s Mass preface states: “Regardless of
how we treat Jesus, He does not leave because He has had
enough of us, nor because He cannot stand us. His ascension
to the Heavens is not an escape or vacation. We can not say
that Jesus, after completing his mission, suggests to the Holy
Spirit to deal with us as best He can. Jesus is still the head of
the Body of Christ which formed our church and is still present
and responsible, within it.
“ In the Creed we say that Jesus is seated at the
right hand of God, but we do not mean that He is resting,
watching what happens to His Church via television. We
mean that Jesus has been glorified and made king, that
His reign has begun and He still has much to do with us.
Jesus promises us, before leaving, that he will be with
us until the end of the world (Mt 28, 20), and although we
don't see Him physically, we do feel His presence among us. He
remains for us, His disciples, the way that leads us to the
Father. He is who comforts us in His absence, promising a
place that He has prepared for us.
He promises to return for us to take us to live with Him
in His kingdom. The promise of Jesus' return aroused much
excitement among early Christians that, from the time of the
apostles, it became a custom to leave a greeting in Aramaic:
Mara natha!, Meaning “Lord, come!”. We Christians still use,
especially in Advent when we sing, “Come, come, Lord, do not
delay!”
We are the Church of Jesus. We are His Mystical
Body who long to meet its’ head which is in heaven. We
are the holy assembly which meet
the day that Christ rose, Sunday, to meet the heavenly
Father and offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass presided
by a priest acting in the name of Christ. We are the
disciples who celebrate Mass in memory of Jesus and
take communion devoutly, His Body and Blood, in a living
encounter with Christ.

La ascensión de Jesucristo marca la
entrada definitiva de la humanidad de Jesús
en el dominio celeste de Dios de donde ha de
volver (Cf. Hch 1, 11), aunque mientras tanto
lo esconde a los ojos de los hombres (Cf. Col
3, 3). (CEC 665), nos dice el Catecismo de la
Iglesia Católica para explicar este momento
en el que aquel que siendo Dios se hizo
hombre para salvar al hombre, regresa al
cielo de donde había venido.
No se ha ido para desentenderse de este
mundo, sino que ha querido precedernos como
cabeza nuestra para que nosotros, miembros de
su Cuerpo, vivamos con la ardiente esperanza de seguirlo en su
reino. Nos dice el Prefacio de la misa de la Ascensión del Señor,
como dándonos a entender que, a pesar de cómo lo tratamos,
Jesús no se va harto de nosotros, no se va porque ya no nos
aguanta, que su regreso al cielo no es una fuga, ni unas
vacaciones, ni un descanso. No podemos decir que Jesús al
terminar su misión le pasa el encargo al Espíritu Santo para que
él se las arregle con nosotros como mejor pueda. Jesús sigue
siendo la cabeza de ese Cuerpo de Cristo que constituyó como
nuestra Iglesia y sigue estando presente, y responsable, dentro
de ella.
En el Credo decimos que Jesús está sentado a la
derecha del Padre, pero no queremos decir que está
descansando como si viera qué sucede con su Iglesia en un
canal divino de televisión. Queremos decir que Jesús ha
sido glorificado y hecho rey, que su reinado ha comenzado
y que todavía tiene mucho qué hacer entre nosotros.
Jesús nos promete, antes de partir, que él estará con nosotros
hasta el fin del mundo (Mt 28, 20), y aunque no lo vemos
físicamente, sí sentimos su presencia entre nosotros. Él sigue
siendo para nosotros sus discípulos el camino que nos lleva al
Padre, él es quien nos consuela de su ausencia sensible
prometiéndonos un lugarcito que nos ha ido a preparar en la
casa paterna. Él nos promete regresar por nosotros para
llevarnos a vivir junto con él en su Reino.
Tanta ilusión despertaba entre los primeros cristianos
esta promesa del regreso de Jesús que ya desde el tiempo de los
apóstoles se acostumbró despedirse con un saludo en lengua
aramea: ¡Maran atha!, que significa ¡Señor, ven!, que nosotros
los cristianos seguimos usando sobre todo en el Adviento
cuando cantamos ¡Ven, ven Señor, no tardes!
Somos la Iglesia de Jesús, somos su Cuerpo
místico que anhela reunirse con su cabeza que está en el
cielo, somos la asamblea santa que se reúne el día en que
Cristo resucitó, el domingo, para encontrarnos con el
Padre del cielo y ofrecerle el sacrificio santo de la santa
misa presidida por un sacerdote que actúa en la persona de
Cristo. Somos los discípulos que celebramos la misa en
memoria de Jesús y que comulgamos devotamente su
Cuerpo y su Sangre en un encuentro vivo con Cristo.

A very good
friend of mine, who
married very young,
said she realized when
she had her first child,
that she did not really
want a daughter, but
rather a doll, since no
one had given her one during her childhood.
There have been very basic dolls, dating back
thousands of years. Since prehistoric times, the maternal
instinct is manifested in all girls who play with dolls, who
they can lull to sleep, change clothes, comb and pamper,
training to be a Mom. Not like the Barbie's, who create in
a girl, a longing to be a model or an independent woman.
The Blessed Mary is the best mother figure , who
wisely knew how to love, care for and educate her Divine
Son, and become His most faithful follower.
My respect and appreciation goes out to all
mothers, who in modern times have to be providers of
home, workers, and relentless Mothers, which means
they have to be doctors, teachers, psychologists,
detectives, artists , singers, cooks, superheroes and many
other things, to ensure that their children are good men
and women.
Congratulations to the Mothers who know how
to educate their children, raise them to be responsible
and teach them to make the right decisions in life. To the
mothers who are educated, who care to attend family/
parenting meetings, who are close to their children and,
despite the many chores they have, spend time with
their children to help them with their homework, to play
with them and talk with them. My praise and admiration
for single mothers who have to act as both father and
mother.
The calendar shouldn't be our reminder
once a year that we should love our mother, we
should show our love and respect for her
everyday. One shouldn't talk back, nor ignore or
disobey them. They deserve more than flowers
or
gifts.

Una muy buena
amiga que se casó muy
joven, decía que se dio
cuenta cuando tuvo a su
primera hija, que ella en
realidad no quería una
hija, sino una muñeca,
ya que nadie le había
regalado una durante su
infancia.
Se han encontrado muñecas muy rudimentarias
que datan de miles de años. Desde la prehistoria, el
instinto maternal se manifiesta en toda niña, que juega
con muñecas a las que puede arrullar, cambiar de ropa,
peinar y mimar, entrenándose para ser Mamá. No como
las Barbéis que crean en la niña un anhelo de ser una
modelo de mujer independiente.
María Santísima es el mejor modelo de Madre,
que supo sabiamente amar, cuidar y educar a su Hijo
Divino, para luego convertirse en su más fiel seguidora.
Mis respetos y reconocimiento para todas las
Madres que en los tiempos modernos, tienen que ser
proveedoras del hogar, trabajadoras y a la vez,
incansables Madres, lo cual significa que tienen que ser
doctoras, maestras, psicólogas, generalas, inspectoras
aduanales, detectives, artistas, cantantes, cocineras,
súper héroes y muchas otras cosas más para lograr que
sus creaturas sean mujeres y hombres de bien.
Felicidades a las Madres que saben educar a sus
hijos para que sean responsables y que sepan tomar las
decisiones correctas en la vida. A las Madres que se
preparan y se educan, las que se preocupan por asistir a
las juntas de Padres de Familia, las que están cercanas a
sus hijos y pese a los muchos quehaceres que tienen de
por sí, dedican tiempo a sus hijos para ayudarles con su
tarea, para jugar y para platicar con ellos.
Mi reconocimiento y admiración a las Madres
solteras que tienen que fungir como Padre y Madre a la
vez.
Que no sea el calendario el que nos recuerde un
día al año que debemos amar a nuestra Madre, sino que
todos los días, le mostremos nuestro amor y respeto. No
se vale contestarle mal, ni ignorarle , ni desobedecerle.
Más que flores o regalos. Amor y respeto diario.
