vivimos nuestra vida refleja nuestro amor
por Dios. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

TRUE STEWARDSHIP
The gospel message proclaimed throughout the New
Testament invites us to live in harmony with the world.
This is a challenge to care for the world and be stewards
of all that God has given us. Like generations before us,
we are entrusted with the care of the earth so that generations to follow may enjoy the same gifts. Sometimes,
however, we are absorbed into the ways of the world.
When we are of the world, we rely
heavily on the power of wealth,
beauty, fame, and accumulation of
material possessions. We want earthly
possessions and carelessly turn our
hearts from the responsibilities of
stewardship and conservation.
The readings today challenge
us to walk away from the world so
that we might inherit our share of
God’s kingdom. How we live our
lives directly reflects our love for
God. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe
Advent is upon us - beginning next Sunday! As your pastor, I invite
you to stay close to your faith community during this special season
of deep grace. Come regularly; bring your family! Take one of the
meditation booklets made available today; you’ll find them in the
church entrances. A full calendar of Advent activities will be found
in next week’s bulletin.
An excellent Advent opportunity: We have Eucharistic Adoration
each Friday, beginning with 6:30 am mass and ending at 10 pm.
Come before work or school; or pop in at noontime - whatever works
for you! But do it regularly. When you come, use the little meditation booklets; or reflect on the Sunday scriptures; or use your own
prayer. “Waste some time” with the Lord, as your gift to Him! This
Friday, adoration will be at St. James.
Some “Black Friday” Suggestions:
Why not begin your season of giving (whether this Friday or another
day) with the “Prayer of Giving” from the Catholic Relief Services
Website (crs.org)? Then visit the CRS gift catalog, and do your first
shopping there before hitting the outlet mall. A beautiful custom
adopted by some is to separate 10% of your Christmas budget for a
gift for someone whom you don’t know, and will never meet - a baby
goat, some bags of fertilizer, vaccinations for infants to save them
from childhood diseases. You’ll find these at gifts.crs.org. There’s
an easy link on our parish website, ccgaw.org.
Community Thanksgiving Service: This evening (Sunday), 6:30
pm at First Lutheran Church. All are invited to this ecumenical service of Thanksgiving. You are invited to stay for a simple reception
afterward.
Thanksgiving Day Mass… will be Thursday, Nov. 26, 9 am, Sacred
Heart.
Family Retreat: Our Family Retreat is scheduled for the first weekend of February, 2016. All are invited to our first planning meeting,
to be held Sunday, Dec. 13, in the Conference Room at St. James.
I will be out of town on retreat this week through Thursday evening. Please pray for me! -- Fr. Paul
Friday Morning Gatherings: Because of the Thanksgiving holiday,
we will not meet this week for “Advent and Christmas: Our Sacred
Journey”. Our next gathering will be Dec. 4. All are invited!
Eucharistic Adoration this Friday: St. James - 6:30 am - 10 pm.
2nd Collection This Weekend: CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT. The CCHD is dedicated to breaking the cycle of
poverty by funding community programs that encourage independence. Your generous donations will give those in poverty the support
they need to make lasting changes. Thank you!
Please remember in prayer Fr. Antonio Gioppato, OMI, former
pastor of St. Joseph Church in Nixon and St. Philip in Smiley. Services for Fr. Antonio were held last week at Oblate in San Antonio.
Prayer Of Giving: “Loving and gracious God,
I have given gold, but there is only so much gold.
I have given blood, but there is only so much blood to give.
I have given my time, but days have only so many hours.
I have given my strength, but even that has its limits.
So I give my love.
Because love is gold, and love is blood.
And love is time, and love is strength.
But love is also so much more.
Because love is God. And God is love.
And only you, God, have no limits. Amen.
habrá reunión este viernes para “Advent and Christmas: Our Sacred
Journey”. La próximo reunión será dic. 4.
Y solo Tú, Señor, no tienes límites. Amen.
