Operation Rice Bowl – Be sure to return your Rice Bowl this
Thursday, April 1 at the Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper! Two baskets will be placed in the sanctuary, one marked
Operation Rice Bowl and the other marked Braes Interfaith Ministries. During the offertory procession, all are invited to come
forward with their donations for the poor and place it in the appropriate basket.

invite you to come back often. During Holy Week and the Easter
Season, many feel called to participate in the religious celebrations of Christ’s passion, death and resurrection. If you are interested in knowing more about the Catholic faith or returning to

Council of Catholic Women – Donations are being accepted
for a Baby Shower for Catholic Charities. Small and large NEW
gifts are needed…disposable diapers, baby formula, blankets,
onesies, bottles, bibs, bath items, baby food, car seats…
anything an infant might need. Help demonstrate respect for life
by supporting new mothers and their infants. Please drop off
items at the Eymard Center – Parish Office before April 6,
or…..Join us for our monthly meeting/baby shower on Tuesday,
April 6. We will start with a social at 9:30 am, the meeting will
begin at 10:00 am. All women of the parish are invited!
Adoration Schedule – On Good Friday and Easter Monday,
there will be no regularly scheduled adoration. Adoration in the
Blessed Sacrament Chapel will resume on Wednesday, April 7.
Fund for the Poor – April 11, 2nd Collection – Your April
packet of Offertory envelopes does not include the blue collection envelope for Fund for the Poor on Sunday, April 11. We will
take up the 2nd collection so if you would like to prepare a check
in advance, please do so. All donations to Fund for the Poor
support the poor, needy and homeless who come to the church
for assistance. In addition, a portion of your contributions is
given to Braes Interfaith Ministries Food Pantry each month.
“FOLLOW ME …” 2010 DIOCESAN SERVICES FUND
Have you made your pledge to the Diocesan Services Fund?
Our parish goal is $62,000. To date, $36,021 has been pledged
by 135 parishioners. We are still in need of pledges or contributions totaling nearly $26,000. Please do your part to support the
programs of our archdiocese. You may complete a DSF pledge
card from the vestibule or pledge online at www.archgh.org.

Easter Flower Donations! We are accepting donations for Easter flowers for the church throughout the Easter season. Make a donation in the
name of a loved one, living or deceased. Envelopes
for donations are available in the vestibule Please bring envelopes to the church office by Wed., March 31.
Being present at school each and every day that school is in
session is very important to a child’s education. Some family
customs and trips have been known to severely interfere with
school attendance, and therefore interrupt the children’s education, which leads to low achievement – and which in turn may
lead to failing a subject or a class, drop out, or failure to graduate. Attendance at each and every one of the scheduled school
days is essential to our young people’s education.
Easter Holiday Office Schedule – The Parish Office will be
closed from April 2 – April 5, Good Friday through Easter Monday. In the event of an emergency, please call 832 264 2205,
and ask to speak to a priest. The office will re-open on Tuesday, April 6 at 8:30 am.
We ask parents and families to be very attentive and responsive
to this matter to ensure the future success of their children and
the joy of reaching their full potential.

Health - Mental Retardation Authority of Harris County
(MHMRA). The Purpose of the IKE Counseling Program is to

We are kindly asking for candy and plastic eggs
donations for the Easter Egg Hunt that will be held
on April 4th at 10:15 am. Filled Easter baskets are
also ideal donations. Donations for the Egg Hunt can be
dropped off in the Parish Office or the School Office.
YOUTH GROUP NEWS
REGULAR YOUTH NIGHTS are held in the gym after 5:00
Mass on Saturday nights. Make plans to join us and get to
know the other youth in our parish!
ATTENTION ALL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS — (Incoming
Freshmen – Outgoing Seniors) - Don't miss out on the Archdiocesan Youth Conference to be held July 30 - August 1. The
Corpus Christi Youth Group is making plans now to take as
many of our High School students as possible to represent our
parish at this gathering of over 2,000 high schoolers from
across the diocese.
Information and registration packets can be picked up from the
church office, or downloaded from the archdiocesan website
www.archgh.org. If you are interested in attending, please fill
out the form, and turn it in to the parish office by Monday,

FIRST COMMUNION INTERVIEWS are scheduled for April 11
& 12. Rehearsal will begin in the cafeteria at 7:00 pm Thursday,
April 15. First Communion will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April
17. Please pray for all our First Communicants and their families as they prepare to receive Our Lord in the Eucharist. May
this be the first Eucharist on a wonderful journey growing ever
closer to the Heart of God in Holy Communion.
INFANT BAPTISM classes for parents begin at 7:00 pm Monday, April 12. Please call the office to register. The Baptism will
be celebrated at the 5:00 Mass on Saturday, May 15. This is for
Baptism of children who are newborns, up to age 7.

VIRTUS TRAINING PROGRAM—APRIL 18
The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston promotes safe environment training and practices through the institution of the VIRTUS training workshops. All adults volunteering or working with
children in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston are required
to have VIRTUS training.
Corpus Christi Catholic Parish will sponsor its next VIRTUS
workshop on Sunday, April 18, 2010 in English only. Doors will
open for check-in at 5:00 pm and the presentation will begin
promptly at 5:30pm at which time the doors will be closed.
Please enter through the school cafeteria from the south side
parking lot for check-in. Please bring a pen for registration paperwork and workbook activities.
All participants are asked to pre-register online by going to
www.virtus.org and clicking on registration. For participants who
do not have internet access, call Stella Rivera in the church

CELEBRACIONES DEL VIERNES SANTO- En este
Viernes Santo, 2 de abril, en que conmemoramos la
pasión y muerte de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, nuestra
parroquia nos invita y exhorta a tomar parte en las celebraciones de este Día Santo que van a empezar a las 3:00 pm.
• Vía crucis en la iglesia – Acompañamos a Jesús en su
camino al Calvario.
• Procesión del Silencio – Procesamos en silencio llevando
con reverencia la Cruz de nuestra redención.
• Rosario de Pésame, iglesia – Rezamos el Rosario acompañando a María en su dolor por la muerte de su Hijo.
Contamos con el Padre José para guiarnos en estas celebraciones especiales. Nuestra presencia en este día nos invita a
vivir con Jesús la historia de nuestra salvación para continuar
nuestro peregrinar como sus fieles discípulos.
Jueves Santo – Cena Ágape – Todos estamos
invitados a compartir una Cena comunitaria el
Jueves Santo 1º de abril a las 6:00 pm en el
Salón Parroquial. Vengamos con nuestra familia, trayendo nuestro platillo favorito (para 12 personas) para
ser compartido con los demás. Vengamos a tiempo para después participar en la Misa de la Ultima Cena del Jueves Santo
a las 7:30 pm.
Operación Plato de Arroz – Por favor, estemos seguros de
regresar nuestras cajitas de Operación Arroz el jueves 1 de
abril, Jueves Santo. Dos canastas se van a colocar en el santuario, una marcada con Operation Rice Bowl y la otra con
Braes Interfaith Ministries. Durante la procesión del ofertorio,
se nos invita a todos a pasar adelante con nuestras donaciones
para los pobres y ponerlas en la canasta apropiada.
Donaciones de Flores de Pascua – Donaciones para las flores de Pascua se están aceptando durante este tiempo de Cuaresma. Usted puede hacer una donación en nombre de un ser
querido, ya sea vivo o difunto. Los sobres para las donaciones
se encuentran en el vestíbulo de la iglesia. Los sobres deben
entregarse en la oficina para el miércoles 31 de marzo.
GRUPO DE JOVENES - Recuerden también que los jóvenes ahora se siguen reuniendo regularmente en el gimnasio a
las 6:00 pm todos los sábados. Le animamos a que vengan a conocer a otros jóvenes de nuestra comunidad parroquial.
Atención estudiante de preparatoria (High School) no se pierdan la oportunidad de atender la Conferencia Arquidiocesana
de Jóvenes del 30 de julio - 1 de agosto. El grupo de Jóvenes de Corpus Christi está haciendo planes de participar con el mayor
número de jóvenes posible. El paquete de información y registro se puede recoger en la oficina. Los interesadotes en asistir, favor

Reunión de Padres de Familia – El domingo 11 de abril a las 11:45 tendremos nuestra reunión mensual. Muchas gracias por su
participación y la generosidad de ofrecer su tiempo a favor de la formación cristiana de sus hijos.
Catecismo – El próximo domingo 4 de abril celebramos el Domingo de Pascua de Resurrección, con este motivo No tendremos clases de Catecismo en este día. Todos regresamos puntualmente el domingo 11 de abril.
Próximo Bautismo - Los padres de familia de nuestra comunidad interesados en bautizar a sus hijos, favor de llamar a la oficina
antes de venir a anotarse con anterioridad en el próximo bautismo disponible y así poder asistir a la preparación Pre-Bautismal requerida para padres y padrinos.
Alrededor de la Arquidiócesis
Un mensaje de la Arquidiócesis - ATENCION PADRES DE FAMILIA - Actualmente, los ISDS (Distritos Escolares Independientes)
en nuestra área geográfica de Galveston-Houston están haciendo todo esfuerzo para mejorar la asistencia escolar en sus escuelas
públicas.
Estar presente en la escuela cada día en que la escuela se encuentra en período de sesiones es muy importante para la educación
de un niño. Algunas costumbres y viajes de las familias han interferido gravemente con la asistencia escolar, y por lo tanto interrumpen la educación de los niños lo cual resulta en un bajo rendimiento, y a su vez puede conducir a reprobar una materia o una clase; a
abandonar la escuela o a no graduarse. La asistencia a todos y cada uno de los días de clases regulares es esencial para la educación de nuestros jóvenes.
Le pedimos a los padres y a las familias estar muy atentos y receptivos a esta cuestión para garantizar el éxito futuro de sus hijos y la
alegría de alcanzar su pleno potencial.
El Triduo—Parte II
Viernes Santo y la Celebración de la Pasión del Señor
Sábado Santo y la Vigilia Pascual
Como fue mencionado en el articulo de la semana pasada, el Triduo es la temporada litúrgica mas corta del año, consistiendo de
solamente tres días. El segundo día de esta temporada, Viernes Santo, celebramos la Pasión del Señor. Esta celebración es parte
de una liturgia de tres días la cual comienza el Jueves Santo y concluye con la Vigilia Pascual el Sábado Santo. La celebración de la
Pasión del Señor es sosegada. Comenzamos en silencio, el mismo silencio con el cual terminó la Misa de la Cena del Señor el Jueves Santo. Esta es la liturgía en la cual recordamos en una manera especial la Pasión del Señor, y en la cual tomamos tiempo para
contemplar la cruz en la cual murió nuestro Señor. No hay una Misa. Este es el único día en el año de la Iglesia cuando no se celebra la Misa. Si, recibimos comunión pero de las hostias consagradas en la Misa de la noche anterior. La liturgia del Viernes Santo
termina como comenzó: en silencio.
En el Sábado Santo, participamos en la vigilia más grande de la Iglesia Católica - la Vigilia Pascual. Nuestra Vigilia comienza en el
silencio del Viernes Santo. También, tenemos el elemento de la oscuridad. No hay luz en la iglesia y el servicio comienza afuera. La
Vigilia tiene cuatro partes:
•
Un servicio de luz cuando bendecimos un fuego nuevo y encendemos el cirio Pascual. Oramos que la luz de Cristo, quien res
citó en gloria, dispersará la oscuridad de nuestros corazones y mentes. Aclamamos a Jesús como nuestra luz. Todos encendemos
nuestras propias velas del cirio Pascual y son esas velitas las que son llevadas adentro de la iglesia para iluminar la iglesia. Es un

• Una Liturgia de la Palabra la cual puede incluir hasta nueve lecturas, y durante la cual escuchamos de la historia de salvación
y del poder y el gran amor de nuestro Dios. Este año, leemos cinco de las siete lecturas del Antiguo Testimento: Génesis 1:1 -- 2:2,
Éxodo 14:15 --15:1, Isaías 55:1-11, Baruc 3:9-15; 32 -- 4:4, Ezequial 36:16-17a, 18-28. Le invitamos a invertir un poco de tiempo
durante Semana Santa para leer estas lecturas y venir preparado a oirlas de nuevo en la Vigilia.

Una liturgia de bautizo cuando acogeremos nuevos miembros en la vida sacramental de Cristo. Después de que los nuevo
miembros son bautizados y confirmados, todos nosotros ya miembros de la Iglesia renovamos nuestros propios votos bautismales.

Una Liturgia de la Eucaristía cuando de nuevo damos gracias y alabanza a Dios, nuestro Padre, por medio del Señor Jesús
Cristo con la ayuda del Espíritu Santo. Un momento de gran significado de esta parte, claro, es la procesión de comunión cuando
todos nosotros, los nuevos miembros incluidos, nos acercamos al altar para recibir al Señor Jesús en la santa Comunión. Piense en

The Triduum - Part II
Good Friday and the Celebration of the Passion of the Lord
Holy Saturday and the Easter Vigil
As mentioned in last week’s article, the Triduum is the shortest liturgical season of the year, comprising just three days. On the second day of this season, Good Friday, we celebrate the Passion of the Lord. This celebration is part of a three day liturgy which begins
on Holy Thursday and concludes with the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday. The celebration of the Lord’s Passion is subdued. We begin
in silence, the same silence with which we ended the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday. This is the liturgy at which we
remember particularly the Passion of our Lord and at which we take time to contemplate the cross on which our Savior died. There is
no Mass. This is the one day in the Church year when Mass is not celebrated anywhere. We do receive communion, but from the
hosts consecrated at the Mass the night before. The liturgy of Good Friday ends as it began: in silence.
On Holy Saturday we participate in the greatest vigil of the Catholic Church - the Easter Vigil. Our Vigil begins in the silence of Good
Friday. And now we also add the element of darkness. There is no light in the Church and the service begins outside. The Vigil has
four major parts:
• A Service of Light when we bless a new fire and light the Easter candle. We pray that the light of Christ, who rose in glory,
will dispel the darkness of our hearts and minds. We acclaim Jesus as “Christ our light.” We all light our individual candles from the
Easter candle and it is these lights then that are carried into the church to light our worship space. It is a powerful symbol of how
Christ’s light, once shared, can illuminate even the darkest places. If you have small children, you may want to bring them to this part
of the Vigil which will surely capture their attention, and then, when they are older, bring them back for the entire service.
•
A Liturgy of the Word which can have up to nine readings, and during which we hear of our salvation history and of God’s great
power and love. This year we will read five of the seven readings from the Old Testament: Genesis 1:1 -- 2:2, Exodus 14:15 -- 15:1,
Isaiah 55:1-11, Baruch 3:9-15, 32 -- 4:4, and Ezekiel 36:16-17a, 18-28. You are encouraged to spend some time during Holy Week
with these readings and come prepared to hear them anew at the Vigil.
•
A Celebration of Baptism when we will welcome several new members into the sacramental life with Christ. After newcomers
are baptized and confirmed, all of us who are already members of the Church renew our own baptismal vows.
• A Liturgy of the Eucharist when we once again give thanks and praise to God our Father through the Lord Jesus Christ with
the help of the Holy Spirit. A highlight of this part is of course the communion procession when all of us, our new members included,
come forward to receive the Lord Jesus in holy Communion. Consider joining us for some or all of our Triduum liturgy this year.
