Baptisms Under 5 Years of Age: Parents are
required to attend one baptismal preparation class
prior to scheduling the baptism. This class is held on
the last Sunday of every month at 6:30 p.m.
Registration is not required. Contact the church
office to schedule the baptism. We do not have
Baptisms on Sundays, although exceptions can be
made. Contact Rick Dick, Director of Religious
Education (770-469-0597) for baptisms in other
age groups. English baptisms are celebrated the first
and third Saturday of each month at 10 a.m.
children and their parent(s) must attend special sessions to prepare them for these sacraments. A child
normally receives his/her First Reconciliation and
First Communion in the second grade. For further
information contact our Office of Religious Education.
First Reconciliation/Communion: The
Archdiocese of Atlanta requires two successive
years of religious education in a Parish School of
Religion or a Catholic School. In their second year,
Anointing of the Sick: Parishioners must notify the
Pastoral Care or Church Office to receive a communion
visitation, an in-home or hospital anointing by a priest
or to be placed on the prayer list in the bulletin.
Rite of Confirmation: The Archdiocese requires three
successive years of religious education in a Parish
School of Religion or a Catholic School. In their third
year of preparation, candidates must attend six special
retreat sessions preparing them for this sacrament: a
weekend, peer retreat; and two half-day retreats with
Marriage in English or Spanish: This sacrament
their sponsor. The Rite of Confirmation normally
requires a marriage preparation program (generally takes place in this Archdiocese during the candidate’s
five to six months in length), as well as other

Construction Corner/Rincón de la Construcción
We are on track for Dekalb County to come on site the last
week of May to approve a temporary certificate of occupancy for our return to the sanctuary. If granted, we could be in
the sanctuary the first week of June.
Please continue to pray for this outcome!
 The preparation work on the exterior of the lower
building (gym and preschool) will begin this week. It is
critical that this work begin as soon as possible so that
we can re-open the preschool in August. Most of the
work on the lower building will be to the exterior; however, new grease traps will be installed in both kitchens
and the windows will be replaced. The grease trap installation in the gym kitchen will begin immediately to
avoid any impact of events planned during the summer.
Window replacement takes several weeks as the old
windows must be removed, measurements made, windows ordered, framing built, windows installed and
then water tested. As we know from the sanctuary and
administrative offices, plywood takes the place of the
glass for several weeks. Although the exterior of the
lower building will be in disarray for a few months, the
gym will be available for events.
 The exterior of our buildings will soon have a fresh
look. We would like to also improve our landscaping. If
you are a landscape architect who would like to share
your gift of landscape planning with your parish family,
please contact the front office.

support for this much needed work to our facilities.

Estamos en el camino para el Condado de Dekalb para venir en
el lugar la ultima semana de mayo para aprobar un certificado

 El trabajo de preparacion en el exterior del edificio mas
bajo (gimnasio y preescolares) comenzara esta semana. Es
fundamental que esta obra comience tan pronto como sea
posible para que podamos volver a abrir el preescolar en
agosto. La mayor parte del trabajo en el edificio mas bajo
sera al exterior; Sin embargo, nuevas trampas de grasa se
instalaran en ambas cocinas y seran reemplazadas las ventanas. La instalacion de la trampa de grasa en la cocina
gimnasio comenzara inmediatamente para evitar
cualquier impacto de los actos programados durante el
verano. El reemplazo de ventanas lleva varias semanas que
hay que eliminar las viejas ventanas, las mediciones realizadas, ventanas ordenadas, enmarcando incorporado,
ventanas instaladas y despues se prueba el agua. Como
sabemos por el santuario y oficinas administrativas,
madera contrachapada toma el lugar del vidrio durante
varias semanas. Aunque el exterior del edificio mas bajo
sera en desorden durante unos meses, el gimnasio estara
disponible para eventos.
 El exterior de los edificios pronto tendra una nueva mirada. Nos gustaría tambien mejorar nuestros jardines. Si

Happy 25th Anniversary Fr. Kidane
We’d like to extend warm wishes and congratulations to Father Kidanemariam Gebrehiwot, of the Catholic Archeparchy of
Asmara, Eritrea. He is the vicar for the Catholic Ge’ez Rite community in the Atlanta area,
which is based right here at Corpus Christi!
This active body of believers is able to enjoy
worship in their native language and traditions under his leadership. Fr. Kidane was
ordained April 14, 1991. He served in his
native Ethiopia and in Vatican City. He
founded Our Lady of Perpetual Succor
Church in Ethiopia. Fr. Kidane was recognized by the Archbishop of Atlanta at this
year’s Chrism Mass during the Holy Week
festivities and subsequently featured in the Georgia Bulletin. He will have
a celebration here at Corpus Christi on Sunday, May 22nd after the regular Eritrean Mass at 2:30 p.m. We’d be remiss not to recognize him on this
very special occasion of his Silver Jubilee!


Thank you, Rick and Beedee for a Job Well Done
After a lifetime of service to the church, two pillars of the Corpus Christi community have decided to retire. Richard Dick, the
coordinator of our Parish School Religion and Beatrice Soskin, director of Little Ones Preschool will both be leaving us soon.
Dick, better known as Mr. Rick, began his work at Corpus Christi in July of 2009 as the full-time Director of Religious Education. He brought a bundle of passion and years of wisdom from his experience as a Lutheran pastor and DRE. He transitioned to part-time PSR Coordinator in July of 2015 in anticipation of the adoption of his two girls Luisa and Nelly from Columbia. The adoption is now complete and the girls are quickly settling in. He will be retiring on June 1 to enjoy this new
phase of life and become a full-time parent to the girls. He and his family will remain in our prayers and hearts.
Soskin, who we all know as Beedee, began working at this church 37 years ago! She founded the Little Ones Preschool and
has been at the helm since its inception. It began as a part-time program that operated 2 days a week from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
in one classroom. Now, it’s a year round program with approximately 50 students! She brings energy and a love of Christ to
all that she does. Her vibrancy, love of life and positive outlook will be missed. She retires on May 31. May God continue to
bless her in her new season. She assures us she will keep herself busy with things she loves to do.
We are thankful for their service, to know them as friends and to share in their journeys. Join us on Saturday, July 23rd for
a Thanksgiving mass in their honor during the 5 p.m. Vigil Mass. It will be followed by a reception in the gym.
