Last weekend was Commitment Weekend, and we are grateful for all of our parishioners
who participated. In total, we have exceeded our goal with over $618,259 raised from 200
families! Because we have gone over our goal, we will now receive 100% of every dollar
raised over our $410,000 target!
We want to say thank you to those parishioners who have made a sacrificial gift to our
campaign and for those of you who are praying for Generations of Faith.
If you recently made your pledge, you should receive an initial reminder statement within
the next month. Please keep in mind that reminder statements, with return envelopes, are
sent out at the end of each month. If you would still like to make a pledge, you can drop
your pledge form off at the Parish Office.
Our commitments to date are a wonderful testament of the generosity and faithfulness of
our parish family!

FRIENDLY REMINDERS
The purpose of the World Day of Prayer for Vocations is to
publically fulfill the Lord's instruction to, "Pray the Lord of the
harvest to send laborers into his harvest" (Mt 9:38; Lk 10:2).
As a climax to a prayer that is continually offered throughout
the Church, it affirms the primacy of faith and grace in all that
concerns vocations to the priesthood and to the consecrated
life. While appreciating all vocations, the Church concentrates
its attention this day on vocations to the ordained ministries
(priesthood and diaconate), to the Religious life in all its forms
(male and female, contemplative and apostolic), to societies of
apostolic life, to secular institutes in their diversity of services
and membership, and to the missionary life, in the particular
sense of mission "ad gentes".
2016 marks the 53rd Anniversary of the World Day of Prayer
for Vocations

Bishop James Massa
TODAY we welcome Bishop James Massa, Moderator of the
Curia, who will celebrate the 10AM Mass and bless the new
Saint John Paul II shrine. Bishop Massa will also meet with
the parish pastoral council, the parish finance council and
some parishioners after the Mass. Since the diocese has 187
parishes, it is not possible for Bishop DiMarzio to get to each
parish on Sundays. He has asked Bishop Massa to assist him
in pastoral visits to the parishes. All parishioners are invited to
the Mass. It is also our family Mass, we will have refreshments afterwards in the parish room.
Altar Server Trip
On Wednesday, April 27, 2016 Fr. Evans will lead a trip
for altar servers and other young volunteers beginning at
3:00pm in the upper church. Fr. Evans will lead the
group to the AMF 34th Avenue Lanes Bowling Alley
located 69-10 34th Avenue in Woodside. We will travel
to the bowling alley in cars. We will have unlimited
bowling for 2 ½ hours. We will return to the parish at
7:00pm (enough time to find the right shoes, balls, and
eat a meal). The cost of the bowling trip is $10. Pizza,
snacks and drinks are available at the bowling alley. It is
recommended that youths bring either a bagged dinner
or money to buy a meal. Permission slips must be returned by Sunday, April 24th. Chaperones are needed and

Mass of Hope and Healing
Survivors of Sexual abuse by members of the Clergy and the Diocese of Brooklyn
will be sponsoring a Mass of Hope and Healing, Thursday April 21, 2016,
7:00PM, at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church (located on 110-06 Queens Blvd.,
in Forest Hills). The main celebrant will be Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio.
All are invited to gather on this day, to pray for healing for all those who have
been impacted by childhood sexual abuse.
Pieta House
Please support Pieta House in its mission of preventing suicide & self
harm by participating in their annual 5k walk/run- Darkness into Light
which will take place on May 7th, 2016 at Flushing Meadows Corona
Park. The walk begins at 4:15 am in darkness and you cross the finish line

Obispo James Massa
Hoy le damos la bienvenida a el Obispo James
Massa, Moderador de la Curia, celebrará la Misa
de las 10AM y bendecirá el nuevo Santuario del
Santo Juan Pablo II. El Obispo Massa también conocerá el concejo pastoral parroquial, el concejo
parroquial financiero y algunos feligreses después
de la Misa. Como la diócesis tiene 187 parroquias,
no es posible para el Obispo DiMarzio llegar a
cada parroquia los domingos. Le pidió al Obispo
Massa asistirlo con visitas pastorales a las parroquias. Todos los feligreses son invitados a esta
Misa. También es nuestra Misa familiar, después
tendremos refrigerios en el salón parroquial.
Los fines de la Jornada Mundial de Oración por las
Vocaciones son los que han sido establecidos y comentados en
los Mensajes Pontificios dirigidos cada año a toda la Iglesia:
dicha Jornada constituye un testimonio público de la
comunidad en oración para obedecer el mandato del Señor:
“Rogad al Dueño de la mies que envíe operarios a su mies” (Mt
9, 38; Lc 10, 2). Es el momento fuerte de una oración incesante; reafirma, además, la primacía de la fe y de la gracia en
lo relativo a las vocaciones consagradas.
Aun expresando su estima por todas las vocaciones, la Iglesia,
con ocasión de esta Jornada Mundial, centra su atención particularmente en las vocaciones consagradas: a los ministerios
ordenados (presbiterado y diaconado); a la vida consagrada en
todas sus formas (masculina y femenina, contemplativa y
apostólica); a las sociedades de vida apostólica y a los institutos seculares en la variedad de sus funciones y de sus asociados; a la vida misionera, en el sentido concreto de misión
“ad gentes”.

El miércoles, 27 de abril. El Padre Evans llevará los monaguillos y otros jóvenes voluntarios a un paseo comenzando

Misa de Esperanza y Sanación
Sobrevivientes de Abuso Sexual cometido por miembros del Clero y la
Diócesis de Brooklyn, están patrocinando la Misa de Esperanza y Sanación que se realizara el jueves, 21 de abril, 2016 a las 7:00PM en la
Iglesia de Nuestra Señora Reina de Mártires (localizada en el 110-06
Queens Blvd., en Forest Hills). La Misa será celebrada por el Msñr.
Nicholas DiMarzio, Obispo de Brookyln. Todos están invitados a reunirse en este día, para orar por la sanación de todos los que han sido impactados por el abuso sexual de niños.
