Breakfast is served from 8:10 until 8:30. Students should enter through the playground
entrance and must remain in the building after breakfast.

Drop-off and Pick-up
We ask that you do not park in the bus lane when dropping off or picking up students.
The lane must be kept open for buses. The building owner requests that you please not
park in the lot on 8th and Water Street. Thank you for your cooperation!
Attendance Policy
Attendance is required by law. Students
are required to return a properly
completed pupil excuse form or note to
the office on the first day they return
from an absence. A parent or guardian
must complete and sign the form or note.
Notes not turned in to the office within
three days of the absence may become
unlawful absences. The principal has the
right to grant an exception when there
are extenuating circumstances.
When requesting days missed for family
educational experiences or an
emergency, a written notice to the
building principal is required one week
prior to the trip. Forms are available in
the office.
We will be notifying parents/guardians
by phone if a student is absent from
school, reminding the parent/guardian of
the requirement for an excuse note. In
order to help parents, our voice message
will be in English and Spanish.
Note: K4 and K5 students are now
required by law to follow the same
compulsory attendance laws as all
other students.

for additional information regarding
attendance.
Dress Code
All students shall be subject to this Dress
Policy. All students must report to
school on a daily basis attired in
compliance with the provisions of this
Dress Policy. There is to be no changing
of clothes in school or on any school
property prior to the beginning of the
school day, or at the end of the school
day, unless it is for sports teams or extra
curricular activities. Students who move
into the district will have a 3-day grace
period to transition into dress code
requirements.
Acceptable items in compliance with the District Dress Code can be found in the
student handbook as well as the district calendar.

Address Change
Your support is always appreciated in
helping us to maintain accurate
information regarding address changes,
new telephone numbers, etc.
It is a recommended procedure by the
Pennsylvania Department of Education
that, in the event of a change of address,
confirmation of the new address is
required before information can be
updated/changed. Confirmation of
address may include a utility bill or a
copy of the lease. If you are residing
with someone else, we will provide you
with a Residency Affidavit that will need
to be signed and notarized. Please
submit all information regarding address
changes to the Northwest Office.
Accurate information on your child is
vital in the event of an emergency!
Office personnel will be happy to assist
with any questions you may have.
Student Paperwork
Each student received a student packet the first day of school. Please return all paperwork
by September 4th so that we can accurately service your children.

3RD Annual Northwest Roadrunner
Join us for the 3rd Annual Northwest Roadrunner 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run on Saturday,
October 31, 2015 at Coleman's Park. The 5K begins at 9:00am and the Fun Run begins at
10:00am. Costumes are optional but encouraged! There will be trick or treating along the
Fun Run Course. Registration forms can be found on the district’s website or you can
pick one up in the office. You can also register at www.active.com. 5K: $25.00 – 1 MILE
FUN RUN: $10.00 All proceeds benefit Northwest PATT, which supports Northwest’s
students and programs.

10 Tips for Kick-Starting the New
School Year
1. Sleep for school. Setting up a
regular bedtime and wake-up
routine before school starts is a
crucial step to prepare your child for
class and a practical way to cut
down on first-day stress.
2. Look up to learning. If your child is
feeling a bit anxious about going
back to school, keep a positive
attitude. Recall the fun and exciting
events, field trips, projects, and so
on from years past, and show
excitement about the opportunities
for learning new things in the
upcoming year.
3. Walk through it. Escorting younger
children to school can help with the
transition. Familiarize your child
with where they enter and exit each
school day. Let them know who will
be picking them up.
4. Suit 'em up. Shopping for school
supplies with your child can be a
fun way to give him some
responsibility. Provide parameters,
but allow him to pick out a
backpack, lunch box, nap mat, water
bottle, new clothes, and some basic
school supplies (pencils, crayons,
etc).
5. Talk it out. Asking your child about
school is important. It shows her
that you value her education. Try to
avoid general questions, like "How
was your day?" These will most
likely produce one-word answers.
Instead, be specific.
6. Bring it home. Helping your child
with his homework is an effective
way to show concern for what he
learns at school. Displaying your
child's projects around the house
also helps to keep learning
excitement high.
7. Go farther. Getting involved in
school events is a critical aspect of
showing support and enthusiasm for
your child's learning experience.
Participating in school activities is
also a valuable way of connecting to
the school community. You can
learn a lot about the school just by
talking to fellow parents.
8. Keep your eyes (and ears) open. If
your child's eating or sleeping habits
have changed drastically, it may be
a sign that she's having difficulty
adjusting to her new grade.
9. Read, read, read. Reading with your
child is an invaluable way to spend
quality time together on a daily
basis. In addition to other long-term
benefits, reading together can also
be a practical way to discern his
reading level.
10. Connect. Communicating with your
child's teacher on a regular basis is
an essential part of caring for her
education. Teachers can alert you to
any emotional, social, or academic
difficulties they perceive in your
child at school. The same works in
reverse: notify teachers about
changes that might affect your
child's behavior in school. Some
examples are illness, divorce, the
death of a family member, a recent
move, or a parent getting a new job.

Le pedimos que no se estacione en el carril bus cuando dejar o recoger a los estudiantes.
El carril se debe mantener abierta para los autobuses. Las solicitudes dueño del edificio
que por favor no aparcar en el aparcamiento los días 8 y la calle de Water Street. ¡Gracias

Política de Asistencia
La asistencia es obligatoria por ley. Los
estudiantes están obligados a devolver
un formulario excusa alumno
debidamente cumplimentado o una nota
a la oficina el primer día que regresen de
una ausencia. Un padre o tutor debe
completar y firmar el formulario o nota.
Las notas no se volvió a la oficina dentro
de los tres días de la ausencia puede
llegar a ser ausencias ilegales. El
director tiene el derecho de conceder una
excepción cuando hay circunstancias
atenuantes.
Al día solicitan perdidas para las
experiencias educativas de la familia o
una emergencia, se requiere un aviso por
escrito al director de la escuela una
semana antes del viaje. Los formularios
están disponibles en la oficina.
Vamos a notificar a los padres / tutores

Cambio de domicilio

Es un procedimiento recomendado por el Departamento de Educación de Pennsylvania
que, en el caso de un cambio de dirección, se requiere la confirmación de la nueva
dirección antes de la información se puede actualizar / cambiar. La confirmación de la
dirección puede incluir una factura de servicios públicos o una copia del contrato de
arrendamiento. Si usted reside con otra persona, le proporcionará una declaración jurada
de residencia que tendrá que ser firmado y notariado. Por favor, envíe toda la información

ayudar en casa
10 consejos para poner en marcha el
nuevo año escolar
1 . Sueño de la escuela. La creación de un
horario regular para dormir y la rutina de
despertar antes de que comience la escuela
es un paso crucial para preparar a su hijo
