El contexto global en el que vivimos cambia constantemente. Se han
erigido grandes desarrollos tecnológicos, políticos y sociales que han
legitimado una mejora en la calidad de vida de la sociedad, en donde
nuevas tecnologías decretan el tenor de la actualidad: tecnologías
de la información y la comunicación, logística, nanotecnología,
microelectrónica y nanoelectrónica, mecatrónica, fotónica, ciencia de
los materiales, biotecnología, bioingeniería y energías renovables,
electrónica y automatización, aeronáutica, la ingeniería eléctrica y la
mecánica, por mencionar algunos; tecnologías que se retroalimentan
entre si ofreciendo eternas posibilidades de desarrollo. Una época
donde se han abierto las puertas del conocimiento y nuevas
convergencias, y en el que la Facultad de Ingeniería Mecánica y
Eléctrica de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León ha destacado
por su espíritu innovador como actor relevante en la formación de
una sociedad más y mejor educada, con mayores capacidades que
las actuales para participar activamente en los procesos globales
y los impactos que éstos producen en el desarrollo, el acceso al
conocimiento y el mejoramiento de capacidades para generarlo.
FIME se caracteriza por ser una comunidad de aprendizaje
abierta al cambio, a la colaboración y al intercambio académico,
con una perspectiva global y comprometida con la Misión y Visión
institucionales, que promueve y practica de manera responsable y
cotidiana los valores universitarios, así como principios y buenos
hábitos para el desarrollo de la persona y del nivel de bienestar
de su comunidad. Se ofrecen Programas Educativos pertinentes,
reconocidos por su calidad por parte de organismos nacionales
e internacionales para la formación de ciudadanos planetarios
socialmente responsables.
En FIME somos una comunidad universitaria con arraigo y gran
fortaleza. Estamos comprometidos con la sociedad y hemos
afrontado exitosamente grandes retos a lo largo de nuestra historia.
La vinculación con la sociedad y la industria ha sido la clave para
mantenernos actualizados. Es por eso que hoy más que nunca,
estamos comprometidos a trabajar en conjunto con la sociedad en
la formación de ingenieros integrales, con conocimiento técnico para
innovar, y con pensamiento crítico para apuntalar a la solución de
problemas de alta complejidad como los que se presentan en la
actualidad. Formamos ingenieros que sean creativos, capaces de
trabajar en equipo, líderes sensibles y observadores que quieran
escuchar y comunicarse adecuadamente, con espíritu de servicio
que ayuden a desplegar un mundo que garantice que la sociedad
prospere con un nivel de calidad de vida sostenible. Ese es nuestro
compromiso y por ello trabajamos.
The global context where we live is changing constantly. There are
many technological, political and social developments that have
improved life quality. The new technologies that play an important
role in this development are: the information and communication
technologies, logistics, nanotechnology, microelectronics and
nanoelectronics, mechatronics, photonics, materials science,
biotechnology, bioengineering and renewable energies, electronics
and automotive, aeronautics, electrical and mechanical engineering,
among others. The interaction between these technologies offer
many opportunities for development. We are living an era where
knowledge is available for everyone. That is why the School of
Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Universidad Autonoma de
Nuevo Leon has been played an important role in the educational
background of society. We encourage the society to participate
actively in the global processes and in the impact these processes
have on the development, on the knowledge access and abilities to
improve it.
FIME has been traditionally distinguished as an eager learning
community and open to changes, collaboration, and academic
exchange. Having a global perspective and committed to the
Institutional Values, Mission and Vision, promoting and practicing
them in a responsible and daily manner, as well as the principles and
good habits for the well-being of the community. We offer nationally
and internationally recognized academic programs in order to
educate socially responsible citizens.
As a university community, FIME Is highly committed to society, and
we have successfully faced great challenges throughout our history.
The link we have with society and the industry has been the key to
keep us updated. That is why we are committed to work with them
in the formation of engineers with technical knowledge to innovate,

La ciudad de Monterrey llegó a una importante expansión
de sus actividades industriales en los años cuarenta. Este
enorme auge industrial creo necesidades tecnológicas y
científicas; por lo que en 1947 se estableció nuestra Facultad
con la finalidad de formar profesionales de un alto nivel para
fortalecer la competitividad de la industria local.
The city of Monterrey reached a major expansion of its
industrial activities in the forties. This industrial boom created
huge scientific and technological needs, so that in 1947
our school was established in order to educate high level
professionals to strengthen the competitiveness of local
Industry.
En enero de 1959 la Facultad de Ingeniería Mecánica y
Eléctrica inició sus actividades académicas dentro de Ciudad
Universitaria, campus principal de nuestra Universidad.
In January 1959 the School of Mechanical and Electrical
Engineerig started its academic activities in the main campus
of our university.
Se caracteriza por su constante superación académica y
por su vinculación con la industria, por lo que ha aumentado
la oferta educativa en aquellas áreas del conocimiento
prioritarias para la región y el país.
Monterrey is characterized for its constant academic
overcoming, and for its linkage with the industry. So it has
increased the educational offerings in the areas that are a
priority for the region and for the whole country.
Acorde a la Visión UANL 2020 formamos profesionales
con ética, capaces de desempeñarse eficientemente en
la sociedad del conocimiento; poseedores de un amplio
sentido de la vida y con plena conciencia de la situación
regional, nacional y mundial; que aplican principios y
valores universitarios y se comprometen con el desarrollo
sustentable, económico, científico, tecnológico y cultural
de la sociedad; son innovadores y competitivos, logran su
desarrollo personal y contribuyen al progreso del País en el

We educate highly qualified professionals to meet the

changing market, as well as the technological improvement.

Para estar a la vanguardia en los procesos educacionales,
FIME ofrece cursos de sus programas para licenciatura,
maestría y educación continua, en la modalidad a distancia
por medio del uso de internet de nuestra plataforma de la

Nexus es una plataforma que responde a las necesidades
de la enseñanza de la UANL, nos permite intercambiar
el saber como, crear, publicar y compartir cursos de una
manera rápida, simple y amigable.
To be a leader on the educational processes, FIME offers

Education, on the Distance Learning Modality through the

nuestra Facultad cuenta con el Centro de Auto-Aprendizaje
de Idiomas (CAADI), el cual prepara a los estudiantes para

Servicio Alemán de Intercambio Académico (DAAD).
As a support to the foreign language learning, our School
counts with the Self-Access Language Learning (CAADI, by
its Spanish acronym), which prepares the students for their
academic interchanges with Foreign Universities. It works
through agreements with the Alliance Française and the
German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD, by its German
acronym).

FIME cuenta con un Consejo Consultivo Externo que
trabaja colaborativamente por comisiones, cuyo objetivo
es analizar, proponer, evaluar y promover estrategias y
proyectos de mejora institucional acorde a las tendencias y
requerimientos de la sociedad.

Los Proyectos Escolares de Práctica Vinculada (PEPV) son
un esquema que conjunta el Programa Educativo de una
Unidad de Aprendizaje y la práctica profesional.
Linking theory with practice by school projects (PEPV,
by its Spanish acronym) are a scheme that combines the
EAcademic Program of a learning unit and the professional
practice. Done through a school project that covers a real
need in a company or organization in which the student
carries out the practice, to acquire work experience.
Esto mediante un proyecto escolar que cubre una necesidad
real de la empresa u organismo en el cual el estudiante
realiza su práctica, permitiendo la generación de mayor
experiencia entre los estudiantes.
Entre las empresas que participan destacan:
PROLEC, NEMAK, GE Lighting y NASA.
Bolsa de Trabajo
Nuestra Facultad cuenta con una Bolsa de Trabajo cuyo
objetivo es crear un enlace directo de diversas empresas
con los estudiantes y egresados de las carreras de la FIMEUANL, para ofrecer alternativas de empleo.
De esta manera contribuir en la formación integral del
estudiante como profesionista y que los egresados cuenten
con una opción más para colocarse en el ámbito laboral.

Our school has an employment exchange office which aims
to create a direct link between companies and graduate
students of the different Engineering undergraduate
programs.
Contributing to the integral formation of the students as

A group of distinguished graduates showing commitment
and availability to correspond to what was received in the
technological, human and administrative aspects of FIME and
its Alma Mater, decided to create the PROFIME Foundation
with the purpose of collaborating with the institution and its
students, with different strategies and services to follow in

A través de la vinculación de la Facultad con los sectores
sociales, los jóvenes colaboran en la solución de problemas
concretos en beneficio de la sociedad.
Through the linking of the Engineering School with social
sectors, the students collaborate to solve problems to benefit
society.
Mediante el Coloquio de Responsabilidad Social “Innovando
tus sentidos” se pretende sensibilizar a los estudiantes en el
tema de capacidades diferentes.
During the social responsibility colloquium “Innovando tus
sentidos” it is intend to make the students aware on the
disability topic.
Dentro del servicio social comunitario que deben realizar los
alumnos de FIME, se logra apoyar a diferentes campañas
como: “Alianza Anticancer”, “Alimenta a un niño”, “Arrópalos
con un Juguete”, “FIME, regalando sonrisas”, “Recolecta
Anual”, etc.
In the community service the students have to support
