YEAR OF MERCY
THE PERSONAL LOVE OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD
“I Know My Sheep and Mine Know Me.”
No one knows you like Jesus Christ. As God He knew you before He formed you in your mother’s womb (cf Jer
1:4). He has always thought about you. He knit you together in your mother’s womb. Every one of your days was
written in His book before any day ever came to be (cf Ps 139).
Never been Unloved – No matter what you think you may have done to cancel His love, He knew what you would
do. And still He made you. Do not doubt His love for you, or that He knows you better than you know your very
self.
He also says His sheep know Him. And that is both our invitation and our call. We often like to quote the Psalm
23 “The Lord is my Shepherd.” But this is not a slogan. It is a psalm of confession that I am one of the Lord’s
sheep. But the Lord says “My sheep know me.” He does not say we merely know about Him. So ask yourself, “Do
you know him?” To be in the Lord’s flock is to be in a life changing, transformative relationship with the Lord. To
know the Lord is to see your life change by this special relationship.
Persistent Love. The Lord says, “I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. These also I must lead, and
they will hear my voice, and there will be one flock and one shepherd.” Jesus is not content to shepherd a few
thousand Jewish disciples in the Holy Land. He wants His love to spread to the whole world. He wants to embrace
every one He has ever made. He wants to call every person into a saving relationship. Part of our journey as
disciples, as sheep of the Lord is to experience the call to evangelize. But that call will be answered when the love
of Christ fills our heart. Christ has a persistent love to embrace and hold close everyone. Do you sense that love?
He wants to draw others through you.
Powerful love. Jesus says, “I lay down my life, in order to take it up again. No one takes it from me, I lay it
down on my own. I have the power to lay it down, and I have the power to raise it up again.” Our old self was
crucified and died with Him. We have also risen with Him to a new, transformed life.
He has the power to crucify our old and sinful self, and the power to raise it up again. I am a witness of this, and I
pray you are as well: He has the power! As the King of Love, Jesus, the Risen Lord shepherds us with a love that
is passionate, personal, persistent, and powerful. No one loves you more than Jesus with His Father and the Holy
Spirit. He is the King of Love and He is your Shepherd.
EL AMOR PERSONAL DEL BUEN PASTOR
"Conozco a mis ovejas y ellas me conocen."
Nadie te conoce como Jesucristo. Como Dios, Él te conocía antes de que
te formó
desde el vientre de su madre (cf. Jer 1: 4). Siempre ha pensado en ti. Él te tejió en el vientre de su madre. Cada
uno de tus días fue escrito en su libro antes que existiera uno de ellos. (cf. Sal 139).
Nunca has estado Sin Amor - No importa lo que tú piensas que pudieras haber hecho para cancelar su amor, él
sabía lo que haría. Y aun así Él te hizo. No dudes de su amor por ti, o de que Él te conoce mejor que tú te conoces
a tu propio ser.
También dice que sus ovejas lo conocen. Y esto es nuestra invitación y nuestra llamada. A menudo nos gusta
citar el Salmo 23: "El Señor es mi pastor." Pero esto no es un eslogan. Es un salmo de confesión de que soy una
de las ovejas del Señor. Pero el Señor dice: "Mis ovejas me conocen." No dice simplemente sabemos acerca de él.
Así que pregúntate, "¿Lo conoces?" Estar en el rebaño del Señor es estar en una relación transformadora con el
Señor, es hacer un cambio radical de vida hacia el Señor. Para conocer al Señor es ver cómo tu vida cambia por
esta relación especial.
Amor Persistente. El Señor dice: "También tengo otras ovejas que no son de este redil. A ésas también llevaré;
escucharán mi voz, y habrá un solo rebaño con un solo pastor.” Jesús no se contenta con pastorear a unos pocos
miles de discípulos judíos en la Tierra Santa. Él quiere que su amor se extienda a todo el mundo. Él quiere abrazar
a cada ser que él creó. Quiere llamar a cada persona en una relación de salvadora. Parte de nuestro camino como
discípulos, como ovejas del Señor es experimentar la llamada a evangelizar. Pero responderemos a esta llamada
cuando el amor de Cristo nos llene el corazón. Cristo tiene un amor persistente para abrazar y mantener a todos.
¿Sientes ese amor por ti? El Señor quiere atraer a otros por medio de ti.
Amor Poderoso. Jesús dice: "Yo doy mi vida para retomarla de nuevo. Nadie me la quita, sino que yo mismo la
entrego. En mis manos está el entregarla y el recobrarla". Nuestro ser viejo fue crucificado y murió con él.
También hemos resucitado con Él a una vida nueva y transformada.
Él tiene el poder para crucificar nuestro ser viejo y pecador, y el poder para levantarlo de nuevo. Soy testigo de
esto, y espero que tú también lo eres: ¡Él tiene el poder! El Rey del Amor, Jesús, el Señor Resucitado nos pastorea
con un amor apasionado, personal, persistente y poderoso. Nadie te quiere más que a Jesús con su Padre y el
Espíritu Santo. Él es el Rey de Amor y Él es tu pastor.

The student’s received their Report Cards this week and parents had
an opportunity to meet their teachers.
The 3rd Grade students preparing for their First Holy Communion
received First Penance this week.
Next week our Confirmation students will be going on retreat with
Fr. James. The students are going to Sparkill, NY to the Motherhouse of
the Dominican Sisters. We are sure they will have a prayerful
experience.
