Vehicles must be parked in marked spaces. At no time is parking in the upper (southwest) lot permitted. A safe speed of 10 m.p.h. is the maximum for access roads on the GHS campus; 5 m.p.h. and less will be used while driving within the parking lanes. Access roads have the right of way over the parking lanes. Vehicle access is restricted to the roadways and parking spaces; driving or parking on other areas (i.e. grass, rocks, sidewalk…) is prohibited. PARKING PASS AND INSTRUCTIONS Read and understand the GHS Parking Policies information sheet. Print the Request for Parking Privilege form. Click on the “register your vehicle online” tab at the top of the Request for Parking Privilege form. Complete all driver and vehicle information on the registration form, and click the “SUBMIT” button at the bottom of the form. Using the Request for Parking Privilege form (signed by parent/guardian and student) as the cover sheet, include photo copies of student’s driver’s license (paper or plastic), current vehicle registration (can be 30 days past expiration date in upper right corner), valid vehicle insurance form, and receipt from bookkeeper. Bring completed packet to Security Check-in table. Sophomores will NOT be allowed to purchase a Parking Pass until the first week of the school year and then only with their dean’s signature on the signed Request for Parking Privilege form. TICKETS Ticketing policies are covered in the GHS Parking Policies form. Tickets written to vehicles with no valid parking pass displayed will be checked through Aurora Police Department and could be subject to additional fines, including being towed from the premises at the owner’s expense. Repeated parking lot infractions will be directed to the Dean’s office for disciplinary action. Grandview High School Request for Parking Privilege This application must be completed and signed by students and their parents AND your vehicle registered using the link below BEFORE a parking pass can be issued. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER YOUR VEHICLE ONLINE (You must register your vehicle online prior to Check-in in August.) The safety of all persons and property on the Grandview campus is our priority. Parents and students must understand and agree to the following guidelines in this application before acceptance: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. This application must be accompanied by a copy of the student’s driver’s license, insurance, and current vehicle registration. Student vehicles must be parked between the lines and in the designated student lot. Loitering in the parking lot or socializing in and around vehicles is not permitted. Grandview High School is a closed campus for all freshmen and sophomores. Leaving or attempting to leave campus without prior permission could result in revocation of the parking permit. Taking or attempting to take underclassmen off campus who do not have permission to leave could also be cause for revoking the parking permit. Revoked permits are not eligible for a refund of any kind; towing for any reason will constitute revocation of the parking permit. Reckless or careless driving will not be tolerated. Failure to observe the 10 m.p.h. speed limit or breaking other posted regulations will result in a revoked permit and a citation issued by the Aurora Police Department. Students on a waiting list for a permit will be removed from the list if they park illegally. Likewise, students parking illegally will not be placed on the waiting list. The GHS parking tag must be displayed at all times. Cars without tags will be ticketed and possibly towed at the owner’s expense. A replacement tag costs $35, and lost or stolen tags must be reported to Security. If lost or stolen tags are found in a vehicle, the Aurora Police Department will be notified, and the students responsible will not be issued a parking permit for the remainder of the school year. Grandview is NOT responsible for damage to or items missing from student vehicles while parked on school property. Student parking on campus is a privilege. This privilege is extended in exchange for granting consent to the school administration to search the vehicle without warning when there is reason to believe that the safety of students is threatened and to seize items which are potentially dangerous to students, staff, and property. As a student, I understand that my privilege to drive and park at GHS could be revoked if I fail to abide by these regulations. Student Parking Privilege Application What is the PSAT? The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a program co-sponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). It's a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT. It also gives you a chance to enter NMSC programs and to gain access to college and career planning tools on the College Board website. The PSAT/NMSQT measures: critical reading skills, math problems-solving skills and writing skills. What is the ACT? The ACT is a national college admissions examination that consists of subject area test in English, Mathematic, Reading, Science and an optional Writing section. ACT results are accepted by all 4-year colleges and universities in the U.S. The ACT is not an aptitude or an IQ test. Instead, the questions on the ACT are directly related to what you have learned in your high school courses in English, Mathematics, Reading and Science. The ACT includes 215 multiple-choice questions and takes approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete, including a short break(or just over four hours if you are taking the ACT plus Writing). What is the SAT? The SAT is an entrance exam used by colleges and universities to make admissions decisions. The current SAT, introduced in 2016, takes 3 hours to finish plus 50 minutes for the SAT with essay. SAT consists of three major sections: Critical Reading, Mathematics, and Writing. The mathematics portion of the SAT is divided into two sections: Math Test with Calculator and Math Test with No Calculator. The Critical Reading section of the SAT is made up of three scored sections: two 25-minute sections and one 20-minute section, with varying types of questions, including sentence completions and questions about short and long reading passages.
