GRACE Scholars was founded to award scholarships to students who wish to attend Georgia Catholic Schools. According to the SSO/tax credit legislation, taxpayers may redirect part of their Georgia income taxes to GRACE. GRACE then awards scholarships to students whose families demonstrate financial need. The goal is to secure a quality Pre-K -12 Catholic education. Since the foundation in 2008, more than 3,000 taxpayers have participated in the program. The GRACE board allocates funds to the school designated by the donor. Schools eligible to receive funds include GRACE schools and independent Catholic schools. This includes Pinecrest Academy. A donor may choose up to 3 designations by listing the amount desired for each entity. If a designated school's needs are met, the board may transfer funds to another school. This is in compliance with the state law regarding the annual distribution of funds. If there is no designation, funds will go to the schools with the greatest need.
