Reflexiones del Padre Don…
It's sacrament season at the church. We had Confirmation on
Thursday, a First Communion Mass Saturday morning and
another 1st Communion Mass next Saturday.
Seeing the young members of our parish receive these
sacraments is inspiring. We have lots of vibrant young Catholics
in our church.
Bishop Peter Smith Confirmed 24 of our high schoolers or
young adults. Most of these candidates were preparing for the last
several months for this sacrament. The sacrament is about being
filled with the Holy Spirit and becoming Jesus' disciples.
Eleven of our younger children received their 1st Holy
Communion at Saturday morning's Mass, and 24 more children
will receive the Eucharist for the first time next Saturday at the 1st
Communion Mass in Spanish. All these kids have been preparing
for two years to receive Confession and Eucharist.
Special thanks to all the parents who are teaching their children
the Catholic faith, and also, thanks to the caring catechists who
teach them them each Wednesday evening.

RCIA
May is the month of Mary, our Blessed Mother. Who
is she? What traits would God give a woman to be the
mother of His only Son? The Scriptures may paint the
portrait but the brush belongs to God. He created her
a woman, a woman set apart. She stands as a model of chastity,
of inner beauty, of humility and of purity; the golden vessel,
chosen to carry the most important life the world will ever
know. Did she not model openness to God the Father in every
conceivable way? Did she leave any doubt that God’s will was
more important than her own? Did she run when it was difficult? Did she flee from discomfort? Did she trust in God even
when the future was uncertain? There is still so much for us to
learn on so many topics that one year is not enough time. The
23 of May is our last class for this year. We will meet again in
September.

Adult Faith Formation
The spirit of God is a wild thing. Either the Spirit of God is
with us still, or the God of Creation has never been with us at
all. God’s spirit does not abandon us, cannot abandon us for He
is God. The signs of new awareness of the human relationship
to God are everywhere, in all nations, in all peoples. The Holy
Spirit has spoken through married couples and professional
personnel, through women, theologians, and Scripture scholars
as well. The Holy Spirit has spoken through laity and bishops.
But no one listens. The Holy Spirit is rejected, ignored, and
reviled. One element of the Church determines the voice of the
Spirit and does so, it seems, by refusing to listen to its other
manifestations. We are equally adult, equally full members,
equally responsible for the Church. Nor does any one
dimension of the Church, have a monopoly on insight, on grace,
on the promptings of God in this place at this time. The Spirit of
God is a wild thing, breathing where it will, moving as it
pleases, and settling on women and men alike. —from In

Es la temporada de los Sacramentos en la iglesia. Tuvimos la
confirmación el jueves y el sábado por la mañana hubo Misa Primera
Comunión y habrá otra Misa de Primera Comunión el próximo
sábado.
Es una gran inspiración ver a los jóvenes de nuestra parroquia
recibir los sacramentos. Tenemos muchos vibrantes jóvenes católicos
en nuestra iglesia.
Obispo Peter Smith administro la Confirmación a 24 de nuestros
estudiantes de secundaria y jóvenes adultos. La mayoría de estos
candidatos se prepararon por meses para recibir este sacramento. El
sacramento se trata de estar lleno del Espíritu Santo y convertirse en
un discípulo de Jesús.
Once de nuestros niños más pequeños recibieron su 1ª Comunión
en la Misa de la mañana del sábado, y 24 niños más recibirán la
Eucaristía por primera vez el próximo sábado durante una Misa en
español. Todos estos niños han estado preparándose durante dos años
para celebrar el Sacramento de Reconciliación y la Eucaristía.
Un agradecimiento especial a todos los padres que enseñan a sus
hijos la fe católica, y también, gracias a los catequistas dedicados a
enseñar cada miércoles por la tarde.

Mayo es el mes de María, nuestra Madre. ¿Quién es ella? ¿Qué rasgos
daría Dios a una mujer para ser la madre de su único Hijo? Las
Escrituras puede pintar el retrato, pero el brocha es de Dios. Él la creó
una mujer, una mujer aparte. Ella se presenta como un modelo de la
castidad, de la belleza interior, de la humildad y de la pureza; la vasija
de oro, elegida para llevar la vida más importante del mundo. ¿No
modela ella la apertura a Dios Padre en todas las formas imaginables?

El Espíritu de Dios es una cosa salvaje. O bien el Espíritu de Dios

con nosotros en absoluto. El espíritu de Dios no nos abandona, no nos
puede abandonar porque Él es Dios. Los síntomas de una nueva
conciencia de la relación humana con Dios están en todas partes, en
todas las naciones, en todos los pueblos. El Espíritu Santo ha hablado
a través de las parejas casadas y gente profesional, a través de las
mujeres, teólogos y estudiosos de las Escrituras también. El Espíritu
Santo ha hablado a través de los laicos y obispos. Pero nadie escucha.
Se rechaza el Espíritu Santo, es ignorado y vilipendiado. Un elemento
de la Iglesia determina la voz del Espíritu y lo hace, al parecer, al

Little Angels
All Pre K-aged children are welcome and encouraged to
attend our weekly Children’s Liturgy of the Word at
our 10:30am Mass. Kids are invited up to the front of
church, after the Gloria, for Fr. Don’s blessing. Teacher
Molly and HS assistants lead them to the classroom
wing (where parents pick up/after mass). Little Angels
is a special time designed to engage our youngest disciples in our
Catholic faith at their level. Lessons include prayers, songs, puppet
play, crafts, and the Word of the Lord. Parents are always welcome.

Installation Mass will be on Wed. June 15th at St. Peter’s with
the Tigard Court joining us. Plans are underway for the

Pre-School Corner
This past week the preschool started their
unit on the ocean. The wall is covered with “water and sand”.
There are painted rainbow fish and jelly fish. It looks like a fun
place to go swimming! They will be studying other sea creatures
during the next couple of weeks. The preschool class for next
year has only 2 spots left. If you wish to register your child please
pick up a registration form at the office.

We thank the 27 volunteers who worked a total of 66
hours at 8 locations on May 7th. Our Next N2N event is
scheduled for Saturday June 18th. Please sign on the July

Rincón de los Pre-EscolaresLa semana pasada los niños pre-escolares
comenzaron su estudio del océano. La pared está cubierta con "agua
y arena". Están pintados peces color arco iris y medusas. ¡Parece un
lugar divertido para ir a nadar! Ellos van a estudiar otras criaturas
marinas durante el próximo par de semanas. La clase de preescolar
para el próximo año está casi llena y solo tiene 2 lugares para niños.

St Peter's Relay for Life Team will participate in the June 25,
2016 Relay for Life. We will have a meeting on May 17, 2016
at 7:00 pm at Linda Vondrachek to discuss the event, walking
schedule and camp decorations. We are looking for more
