COMMUNITY WIDE HOLIDAY CARE CHRISTMAS
BASKET PROGRAM
We will be collecting donations here in our parish to be delivered to the Community of Christ
Church where the items will be assembled for each of the families in need. You may bring your
donated item to church beginning the weekend of November 28th/29th through the weekend of
December 12th/13th. Do not wrap the gifts.
The following are just some suggestions for you. (Usual items are needed for all ages as everyone getting a Christmas Basket receives something. There is a greater need for items for teens
and for men.)
Here are some suggestions:
For all: mittens, gloves, hats
socks
For children: toys, books, games
For teens: games, billfolds, gift
certificates, sports
equipment (basketballs, footballs,
soccer balls), CDs, DVDs, jewelry, scarves, hair accessories, perfume)
For women: scar ves, books, jewelr y, per fume, soaps, lotions
For men: handkerchiefs, tools, flashlights, shaving lotion
Stocking Stuffers: laundr y soap, toothpaste, shampoo, bath soap, deodor ant,
brushes/
combs, toothbrushes
***Miscellaneous items: batter ies for toys/flashlights, THEY ARE REALLY IN
NEED of the following non-perishable food items (soup, tuna, canned meat, canned vegetables & fruit, cereal, dry milk, peanut butter, coffee, tea, pastas & sauces, pancake mix,
syrup) HyVee bags are available for bringing your donations to Corpus Christi.
Again, these are suggestions. If you just wish to make a monetary donation, checks may
be made out to Holiday Care.
If you and your family wish to volunteer to help with this project, the following are the dates
(all done at the Community of Christ Church, 140 W Kanesville Blvd.)
Monday, December 14th — sorting donated items
Tuesday, December 15th — wrapping the items
Wednesday, December 16th — delivering the Baskets
Thursday, December 17th — delivering the Baskets
You are welcome to volunteer any of the days, however Thurs., Dec. 14tth is
when Corpus Christi parishioners bring and serve lunch to the volunteers
who are helping with this project. If you wish to donate items for lunch or serve, please conIf your family could use some help this Christmas season or if you know someone needing assistance,
applications are being taken now through November 27th (unless they reach 365 applicants before then). Here
is what you need to do: go in person to the Thrift Store, 17 No. 2nd St., 328-8122.
Applications accepted between 9 — 11 AM & 1 — 3 PM. No Satur days
Requirements — residency proof (current utility/phone bill), Decision Notice or Letter of Denial from Dept.
of Human Services, Photo ID, Social Security Card for each person (no copies), must be Legal Guardian of
any grandchildren applying for (bring papers), apply to only one agency (there is cross checking).

Parish Mission and Advent 40 Hours of Adoration
Sunday, Nov. 29—Tuesday, Dec. 1, starting at 7 pm at Holy Family Church
We continue our annual tradition of offering 40 consecutive hours of Eucharistic adoration, paired with a parish
mission speaker for three evenings. You are invited to adore Jesus in the Eucharist from 7 pm on Sunday through
7 pm on Tuesday. Jon Leonetti, an international Catholic speaker, will be presenting on the theme, “Surge of the
Heart,” each evening from 7-8 pm. All are invited!
Our Lady of Guadalupe Novena
Dec. 3-11, 7-8 pm at Queen of Apostles
A half hour of prayer and reflection will be offered in Spanish each evening, followed by refreshments and
fellowship, to celebrate the nine days leading up to the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Saturday, Dec. 12th.

Blest Art will be visiting your parish on behalf of the Christian families
in Bethlehem, Palestine. Our mission is to support those families in the Holy
Land.
For centuries, the Christians in and around Bethlehem have earned a
living by carving religious olive wood art to sell to visiting pilgrims. Fewer
pilgrims are journeying to the Holy Land today, making it difficult for those
Christians to support their families. As a result, there has been a dramatic rise in
Christian emigration from the Holy Land. Now, less than 1% of the population
in the Holy Land is Christians.
Blest Art Inc helps the struggling Christian families of Bethlehem by marketing their artwork
in the United States. Due to this work we many Christian families to maintain their livelihood and
their ancestral homes in the land of our Lord.
When Blest Art visits your parish, we will have hand-carved nativity sets, statues, crosses,
rosaries, and many other pieces of beautiful olive wood art. We kindly invite you to visit our display
and to consider purchasing a piece of art from the Holy Land. In doing so, you will help support the
many families who depend on this form or art for their living. Your purchase will make a difference
in the lives of many Christian families.
We gladly accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards. Please note that we do not
ask for, nor do we accept, any donations.
