We welcome new parishioners and winter visitors. St. Clement Parish believes in Stewardship the giving to God, a share of our Time, Talent and Treasure. Please register at the office when you first come to the Parish. Page 2 FROM THE PASTOR Dear Friends in Christ, Last weekend in this column I announced that our apprecia on dinner for the volunteers of our Make Your Own Strawberry Shortcake project will be on Sunday March 25th just two weeks a er the fes val and immediately before our parish mission. It is during that weekend that we will be hearing from our mission preacher Saturday night and all of the Sunday morning Masses. I am very happy to announce at this me that our mission preacher for the Annual Parish Mission will be Gus Lloyd. Gus’s story parallels my own to a degree. He went to a Catholic grade school and public high school and dri ed away from the prac ce of the faith un l a conversion experience. He and his wife Michelle, along with their four children moved to FL from Ohio in 1986. In 1992, he was asked to join the staff of WBVM, the Catholic radio sta on in Tampa, FL. He hosted a popular morning show there for nearly 13 years. In 2006, the Archdiocese of New York contacted Gus to host the morning show for The Catholic Channel, a new venture on Sirius Satellite Radio. He has been the host of Seize the Day since then. For the past 20 years, Gus has been a popular speaker at conferences, retreats and parish missions. He speaks on apologe cs, evangelizaon, men's issues, marriage issues and being a Catholic in the world today. In addi on to his speaking engagements, Gus just published his second book MagneƟc ChrisƟanity. Please mark your calendars and plan to be here for our Annual Lenten Parish Mission Monday March 26th Tuesday March 27th and concluding with the Annual Lenten Penance Service on Wednesday March 28th. As this is our Centennial Year, I am hoping to bring both language groups together for one mission. The mission will be given in English but simultaneously translated. Those needing that transla on will have headphones or equipment of that type available to them. In prepara on for the Parish Mission our Respect Life Commi ee is sponsoring a 40 Hours Devo on during the Na onal 40 Days for Life Campaign. Please come and pray before the Blessed Sacrament as it will be placed in the monstrance following the 6pm Mass on Sunday March 18th and remain in the Chapel for adora on for 40 hours concluding with benedic on on Tuesday 3/20 at 11am. On Ash Wednesday I received some sad news from Karen Hurst the Director of Youth Ministry for our Wednesday night group. It seems that she was under doctor’s orders to give her no ce and cut back on any work related ac vity. When I hired Karen, she made me aware of her rare medical condi on known as myosi s which affects one in 200,000 people. She was happy to take the posi on for as long as her health allowed her to do the job. Her heart is s ll very much in the ministry but she realizes and I certainly understand that health has to come first. Karen will help Kim Horwedel in her new role as the interim director and serve on the search commi ee to help me find the right person for this important ministry. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will be with us in our discernment and if you have any sugges ons do not hesitate to share your wisdom. Sincerely yours in Christ, Fr. ¡Bienvenidos a Casa!
