Prayer for Rain....
May God
open the heavens
and let His mercy
rain down upon our
fields and mountains.
Let us especially pray for
those most impacted by water
shortages and for the wisdom
and charity
to be good stewards
of this precious gift.
May our political leaders seek
the common good
as we learn to care and share
God’s gift of water
for the good of all.

The History of the Diocese Monterey
In his article in the May 29th Bulletin, Fr. Russ wrote:
“In recognition of our golden anniversary as an independent
diocese of the central coast, Bishop Garcia has commissioned
a commemorative book titled The History of the Diocese
Monterey. I was able to preview a draft copy of this publication
recently and it will be a beautiful addition to any home library.
The quality of printing and binding is exceptional. The book
contains a full history of the Church in California, our Catholic
schools and religious orders, and an account of the establishment
of every parish our in diocese. The cost of this volume is $35
and it will be available in either English or Spanish. We must preorder, as there will be only one publishing. It would be helpful
to know of your interest. If you notify the parish office that
you wish to receive a copy of The History of the Diocese of
Monterey, we will reserve a copy for you which you may purchase
upon delivery, estimated to be September-October 2016.“
As he stated, we must pre-order, so if you are interested in reserving
a copy, please contact the Parish Office before they are all gone.....

EFLECTION OF THE WEEK
July 17, 2016
16th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Jesus upset a few Jewish norms
in this Gospel about Mary and
Martha. First it was unusual for
a single man to be a guest in the
home of a single woman, and
secondly, it was usually the most
acclaimed male student of a rabbi
who received tutoring such as
Mary. It was not the break in these
norms that disturbed Mary’s sister,
Martha, so much as the fact that
Mary sat listening to Jesus’ teaching
instead of helping her sister with
the responsibilities of hospitality.
Jesus, of course, knew that it was
important to tend to the household
chores, but he also wanted to make
the point that in order to love and
serve God, it was important to hear
the Word of God.

Decimosexto Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario
U
- P. Braulio

A
sentada escuchando (10:39), dejando a Marta
“sola con todo el quehacer” (10:40). ¿Entonces
Si no buscamos a

vaqueros, jinetes, soldados y revolucionarios.
