Our customers have proven that they’ve got what it takes to meet
California’s historic drought head on. You saved an impressive
20.5% between June 2015 and March 2016, compared with 2013
levels. Fortunately, California’s water picture improved this
winter, but in no way was there enough precipitation to end
the drought. So even as EVMWD moves to the less restrictive
Stage 3a of our water shortage contingency plan and
removes the drought surcharge for that stage, we all must
continue to do our part to use water wisely. Because after all,

EVMWD’s Stage 3a Regulations
PROHIBITED:
Watering down sidewalks, driveways or patios
Runoff or overspray while irrigating
Using a hose without an automatic shutoff nozzle
to wash a vehicle
Using a fountain or water feature without
recirculating the water
Watering during or within 48 hours after rain
Filling, refilling or adding water to uncovered
pools or spas
Watering on windy days
Watering with sprinklers between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Watering more than three times per week
EVMWD adopted a Water Shortage Contingency Plan in 2015.

Required for Businesses:
Hotels and motels must provide guests with an
option to not have towels and linens laundered daily
Restaurants and other food service establishments
can only serve water to customers on request
FINES
Fines are for violations noted by EVMWD staff for water
waste during a Stage 3a-5c water shortage. Fines for any
customer in violation of the above prohibitions includes a
warning of non-compliance for the first and second offense.
For the third and subsequent violations, a monetary fine
will be assessed outlined in the chart to the right. On the
sixth violation, EVMWD will install a flow restrictor at the
customer’s meter to reduce water use or turn off service.

Penalty
Drought penalties are imposed on customers
who do not stay within their water budget
during a Stage 3, 4 or 5 water shortage.
Customers are given an indoor and outdoor
water budget.
Once a customer exceeds their outdoor
budget, they are in the “Inefficient” tier and
must pay a penalty.

EVMWD: Doing Our Part During The Drought
EVMWD is exploring several local water supply options. We are using creative means to stretch
our water supplies and innovative thinking to ensure we are water secure for the future.
EVMWD is embarking on several well conversions and replacements over the next few years
that will help alleviate some of our region’s dependence on expensive imported water. In
addition, EVMWD is utilizing its recycled water supply to use for irrigation purposes in and
around our community. Using less water is always the best way to help reduce our need to
purchase imported water.
EVMWD is on the forefront of the water use efficiency, having developed a landscape ordinance
which requires new development to meet landscaping and irrigation criteria, including the
prohibition of grass in front yards. Along with the outdoor reduction of water use, EVMWD
is working with developers to ensure they understand the need for more water efficient
appliances and fixtures inside the home.

MULTAS
Multas son por violaciones señaladas por el personal de
EVMWD por el desperdicio de agua durante la escasez
de agua Etapa 3a-5c. Las multas por cualquier cliente en
violación de las prohibiciones anteriores incluye un aviso
de incumplimiento para la primera y segunda ofensa. Para
la tercera y siguientes violaciones, se evaluará una multa
monetaria indicada en el gráfico a la derecha. En la sexta
violación, EVMWD instalará un limitador de flujo en el
medidor del cliente para reducir el consumo de agua o
desactivar el servicio.

Penalización
Penalizaciones de sequía son imponibles

presupuesto de agua durante Etapa 3, 4 o 5

EVMWD: Haciendo Nuestra Parte Durante la Sequía
EVMWD está explorando varias opciones de suministro de agua locales. Estamos utilizando medios

asegurados de agua para el futuro. EVMWD está embarcado en varias conversiones de pozos y reemplazos
