Email: [email protected] Parochial Vicars Father Juan Ruiz PARISH MISSION STATEMENT We are a Catholic faith community who believes in God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – and who follows Christ’s teaching of love and service. As a parish founded by immigrants, we recognize that we continue to be a multi-ethnic parish. We welcome everyone by ministering to their various needs and provide all with the opportunity to grow intellectually in Christ. Through our sacramental life, we are empowered to build up the Body of Christ and to become a more vibrant and faith-filled community. JOSEPH CHAPEL UNVEILS SOMETHING NEW Many people who have admired the beauty and tranquility of St. Joseph Chapel have lamented the fact that they cannot be part of it because they already bought a grave in a cemetery somewhere else. Others have sadly said that their relative died in 9/11 and the body was never recovered. Others have family buried in other countries. Other people do not wish to be cremated when they pass, but would have liked to be part of the new chapel so their family will be able to pray for them here. Now we are happy to announce the solution to these situations. They are officially called "cenotaphs" but are really memorial plaques made of beautiful solid bronze which carry the names of our loved ones "...who are resting elsewhere". They are made by a company in Germany called Strassacker. These memorials bring whole families together forever in our beautiful chapel so that future family members can come to one place to pray for all their deceased relatives. Remember that unlike other cemeteries, ours is a Chapel where the Blessed Sacrament is always present in the Tabernacle and where Holy Mass is celebrated. All this in the beautiful and historic Basilica of Regina Pacis. We have placed some sample remembrance plaques in the special area of our chapel for you to see. Why not go down to the Chapel and see for yourself while you pray for those resting there? Arrangements can be made to order plaques in the Chapel Office. Msgr. Ronald T. Marino PAGE THREE MAY 15, 2016 MEMORIAL DAY MASS We will be celebrating a special Mass in St. Joseph Chapel on Memorial Day, May 30th at 10 AM. At this Mass we will be praying for ALL our deceased relatives and friends ESPECIALLY VETERANS. You are welcome to write the names of your intentions on a piece of paper and place them on the Altar before Mass. On Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 11:00 am, NYPD Patrol Borough Brooklyn South will remember all police officers who have died in the line of duty at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 7201 15th Ave. Brooklyn at a Memorial Mass with the members of the families of the police officers.
