Obstacles to Surrender
Available
“God is less concerned with your ability than
he is with your availability.” Last week our
main theme was Crossroads. This week I
came across the preaching of Pastor James
Brown, of Crossroads Church in Minnesota. “The pastor
calls on members of Crossroads Church to have a ‘childlike
faith in action’ by having excitement, fearlessness and courage about their faith. Fearlessly following God’s plan allows
Him to use you as an instrument for His will, Brown explains, saying that all Christians, especially those who are
feeling ‘bored’ in their faith, need to embrace the
‘courageous [and] fearless […] prayer of availability.’”
“Brown says that every
time we acknowledge God’s plan for us and refuse to do it,
we ‘miss out on an opportunity of a lifetime.’” He notes the
response of Isaiah “here I am […] send me.” “Isaiah wasn’t concerned with the details of God’s plan, but rather he
fully gave himself to God without reservation.” My experience is most of us are afraid of what God may ask and also
afraid to let Him change our path. We prefer the predictable
path of earthly success to the saintly path of Godly greatness.
We often don’t even want to know what His plans are. People are becoming less available to God and less available for
service. Imagine what could be done here at St. Clement’s if
we had a fully available parish? Simply asking “What can I
do, I’m available!”?

“Heaven Forbid that God would ask me
to do something”
One day someone actually said this to me.
They felt they were being called and they did
not want God to interfere with their plans.
God had become a nuisance for them. An
obstacle. God wanted something different. And they were saying “How dare He.” That is how most people think and behave.
Including the majority of professed Catholics and other Christians. They don’t want a radical commitment. They want a cozy
faith that gets them thru the hard times with no demands in return. That is not faith! Faith is a relationship which requires an
active response. God gives me everything and then asks for a
little time and a little help in return. A God-centered, heavenly
reward belief system leads to gratitude and putting my life in
His hands. It leads to unselfish service where God receives all
the credit and all the glory and I get peace and joy. It requires
learning His ways, how to hear His voice, and asking for help
to have the courage to say “Yes”!
How to Surrender

A Powerful Study on the Blessed
Mother Begins April 12th

drawing us ever closer to her divine Son.
Seeing Mary in this way will change you

daily life and help you to become more like
Christ. Join us for Mary: A biblical Walk
with the Blessed Mother at St. Clement’s
in the Church Hall beginning April 12 at
6:30 p.m. and continuing every Tuesday
through May 31st. An optional student
workbook can be purchased for $25.
Please order in advance by calling the Parish Office at 706-629-2345.
For 1st Communion students:
Girl dresses: white communion dresses and white shoes.
Boys dress: all white; or black slacks and white shirt/white or black tie. Suit jacket is recommended but not required. Dress shoes
Practices: For May 1st Mass, practice is set for 4/27/16 at 5:00pm
For May 7th 11am Mass, practice is set for 5/4/16 at 5:00pm
For May 7th 2pm Mass, practice is set for 5/4/16 at 6:30pm
For May 21th Mass, practice is set for 5/18/16 at 6:30 pm

For Confirmation students:
Confirmation Practice is on 4/27/16 at 6:30 pm in the church; please assure that your sponsors are present with you that day.
Confirmation Day: 5/1/16 – students need to be at the church by 3:30pm in the hall.
Remember:
Young Ladies: This is Confirmation and dresses need to be knee length and modest covering the shoulders and chest. Your
hair can not be a weird color (for example: pink, purple or blue). Shoes: low heels or no heels and closed heel and / or
shoes that you can walk well in.
Young Gentlemen: This is Confirmation and no jeans will be permitted. Dress slacks and dress shirt with tie. No Khakis.
Shoes: dress shoes. No sneakers.
Registration:
Registration for returning students for 2016-2017 will begin the second week of April. Registration will occur week during school hours
Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday until the end of April; each new and returning student is required to register.
Those families who have not registered their family in the church please register your family so that we better assist you in the future.
