YEAR OF MERCY PRAYER
ORACION DEL AÑO DE JUBILEO DE
LA MISERICORDIA
Lord Jesus Christ,
and have told us that whoever sees you sees Him.
Let the Church be your visible face in the world.
you have taught us to be merciful
like the heavenly Father
Send your spirit so that the Jubilee of Mercy
may be a year of grace from the Lord,
and your Church, with renewed enthusiasm,
bring good news to the poor,
proclaim liberty to captives and the oppressed,
and restore sight to the blind.
We ask this through
the intercession of Mary,
Mother of Mercy,
you who live and reign with the Father
and the Holy Spirit
forever and ever.
Amen.
Adapted from the prayer penned by Pope Francis.
USCCB DOCUMENT TO: THE FAITHFUL CITIZENSHIP
Excerpt from the Summary of the USCCB (U.S. Catholic Conference of Bishops) Document: FAITHFUL
CITIZENSHIP (a guide for Catholics on how to vote)
What Public Policies Should Concern Catholics Most?
As Catholics, we are led to raise questions about political
life other than those that concentrate on individual, material well-being. We focus more broadly on what protects
or threatens the dignity of every human life. Catholic
teaching challenges voters and candidates, citizens and
elected officials, to consider the moral and ethical dimensions of public policy issues. In light of ethical principles,
we bishops offer the following policy goals that we hope
will guide Catholics as they form their consciences and
reflect on the moral dimensions of their public choices:
