How the program works:
Children, depending on their grade level, need to read, or be read to, a set number
of books. After each book has been read, the title and author of each book needs to
be written down on their reading log located inside their folder. Every child who
returns their reading log will receive a book bag at the end even if they do not
attend or participate in every program listed inside the folder.
Children Birth through 2nd grade are asked to read, or be read to, 30 picture books
of their choice.
Children 3rd through 5th grade are asked to read 5 chapter books of their choice.
We ask you to return your reading log to us only on the days and times indicated
on the Calendar of Events page inside your booklet.
You may return your reading log early only if you will be out of town a prize will
be given to you upon your return. Those who are able to return their reading log on
time will be given a chance to receive additional prizes on the last two days of the
program only.
Library policy directs that all children under the age of nine (9) be directly
supervised at all library activities by a parent, l egal guardian, or sibling at least 16
years old. We will gladly show you the policy if y ou wish.
Instrucciones para el programa:
Niños, dependiendo de su grado y nivel, necesitan leer o que les sea leido cierto número
de libros.
Niños desde recién nacidos hasta segundo grado se les requiere que lean o que se les sea
leido 30 libros de ilustraciones de su preferencia.
Niños de tercero a quinto grado necesitan leer cinco (5) libros de capítulos de su
preferencia.
Después de que cada libro ha sido leido, el título y el autor de cada libro se anotará en su
lista de lectura que se localiza dentro del cuaderno de registro.
Cuando se completa la lista se les pide que la regresen cualquiera de los últimos dos días
del programa. Habrá un premio sorpresa y actividades adicionales para los niños que
regresan su lista a tiempo. Revise el Calendario de Eventos para las fechas y horarios.
Puede regresar su registro de lectura temprano solamente si no va a estar disponible en
cualquiera de los dos últimos días del programa. Recibirán solamente una bolsa para
libros a su regreso.
Nota: No es necesario que asista o participe en cada programa anotado en el calendario
de eventos. Solamente se necesita leer la cantidad de libros que son requeridos para
terminar el programa satisfactoriamente.
De acuerdo a la póliza de la Biblioteca Pública de Hermiston, niños de nueve años
y menores necesitan ser acompañados por alguien may or de 16 años en cada
evento.

Event Guide
Beaver Search: Each Wednesday the library’s READER BEAVER will be hiding somewhere around
the town. Use the weekly clues in your folder, on our Facebook page, or online at
www.hermistonlibrary.us to discover the READER BEAVER’s hiding place and win a prize for your
efforts! Be sure to take along a parent or guardian to help you search.
I SPY: This search ac1vity is at the library every Tuesday. There will be a different puzzle to solve
at each event. This event is scheduled as a two hour drop-in from 1 pm to 3 pm, but we es1mate
it should take about 20 mins.
Cra Time: Each Thursday will be cra4 1me at the library. Each week will be a different cra4 for
you to make in the library and take home with you. This event is scheduled as a drop in program
from 2 pm to 3 pm.
Kitchen Science Camp: This event is for those in 4 & 5th grade and will take place on June 13th
from 2-4 pm. There will be 5 different hands on sta1ons to experiment with. Ac1vity is limited
to the first 20 to register.
Chalk Art: There will be two separate sessions for chalk art, June 9th, from 11am-1 pm and July
12th from 1 –3 pm.

Búsqueda del Castor: Adivina la localidad asignada cada miércoles, ir a ese lugar a recoger un
premio. El lugar será en Hermiston en la fecha y horario que se proveerá después de cada
pista. Pueden encontrar las pistas de cada miércoles dentro su cuaderno , en nuestra página de
Facebook o en nuestra página web www.hermistonlibrary.com . Los padres deben permanecer
con sus niños.
Yo espío: Esta actividad se llevará a cabo los Martes. Este programa dura dos horas
empezando a la 1:00 hasta las 3:00 de la tarde. Habrá un rompecabezas diferente cada semana
y se puede llegar sin avisar durante este horario. Se llevará aproximadamente un tiempo de 20
minutos.
Tiempo de arte: Esta actividad se llevará acabo los Jueves. Este programa empieza a las 2:00
y termina a las 3:00 de la tarde. Habrá un arte diferente cada semana para hacer y llevar a su
casa. Se puede llegar sin avisar durante este horario.
Campamento de Ciencias de cocina: Este evento es para estudiantes que hayan terminado los
grados cuarto (4) y quinto (5). Se llevará acabo el viernes, 13 de Junio a las 2:00 de la tarde y
terminará al las 4:00 de la tarde. Habrá cinco (5) diferentes estaciones al alcance de la mano.
Solamente los primeros 20 niños que se registren serán eligibles para asistir.
Arte de gis: Habra dos sesiónes diferentes para asistir a esta actividad. El 9 de Junio de 11:00
a 1:00 de la tarde y el 12 de Julio de 1:00 a 3:00 de la tarde. Proveeremos varios colores de gis
para que los niños puedan crear sus propios dibujos afuera en la banqueta.
Nota: De acuerdo a la póliza de la Biblioteca Pública de Hermiston, niños de nueve años y
menores necesitan ser acompañados por alguien mayor de 16 años en cada evento.
