These words of scripture reminded us that it is only while we are alive that
we can determine who will receive our worldly possessions when we are
gone. When we plan our Will, we first think of caring for those we are
closest to. Consider how much your parish has been a part of your life.
By including the parish endowment fund in your Will, you can leave a legacy of your
faith: a percent of your estate, a dollar amount or specific assets to the parish
endowment fund or you can make arrangements to leave the remainder of your estate
after all other bequests have been made.

a Librarian

preferred, but not required) for one hour
per week to keep our Parish Library
organized and functioning. We are
planning to have the library up and
running again by the fall, if not sooner,
and we need someone to assist with the
check-out and return process.

What is PSR? Our Parish School of Religion.
Who can attend? K through 9th-grade students who attend public school.
When are the classes? September of 2012 through April of 2013. Each child
attends a one-hour class per week held on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday or
Thursday.
How can I register my child? Registration forms will be made available beginning
on Monday, July 2nd to all new students.
Where are the forms? In the Religious Education Office.

The 22 nd annual mission trip to our sister parish in Kingston, Jamaica to care
for the poorest of the poor, alongside of the Missionaries of the Poor, will
take place this year from October 12 th to October 17 th . The cost is $750.

our St. Thomas Habitat Ministry will join with people of other faiths and
the family destined to be the new owners in this important project.

Make a donation of $30, (or whatever you can) for building materials.
Volunteer your time as a worker on the project. (No prior experience
necessary.)

"Fortnight for Freedom" is a national campaign designated by the U.S. Catholic
Bishops for teaching and witnessing in support of religious liberty throughout a
period of 14 days, from June 21st through July 4th.
Our liturgical calendar celebrates a series of great martyrs who remained faithful
in the face of persecution by political power: St. John Fisher and St. Thomas
More, St. John the Baptist, SS. Peter and Paul, and the First Martyrs of the
Church of Rome.
These specific 14 days have been chosen for two reasons: first, June 21st, the
first day of the “Fortnight for Freedom,” is the vigil of the feast of two significant
martyrs for religious liberty: St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More. Then the 14
days conclude on July 4th, Independence Day, the day that commemorates our
nation's costly sacrifice for liberty. The Fortnight for Freedom will become a great
hymn of prayer for our country.
The United States Council of Catholic Bishops invites all Catholics to set aside
this time to utilize the tools of prayer, study and public action to emphasize both
our Christian and American heritage of liberty.

Reflection for Families
The destinies of John and Jesus are closely
linked. John will eventually go about
proclaiming the coming of Jesus, the messiah.
The message John proclaims is the Good
News of Jesus. Like John, we are all called to
tell others about Jesus’ saving power. Help
one another recognize the way each person
shows God’s love to others. It might be
actions, words, prayers.
Bringing the Gospel into Your Family
Using photos or other memorabilia, recall the
birth or adoption of each member of your
family. Talk about the events of the day, who
was there, what people said or did. Tell one
another what is the good news of each
person’s arrival and why each member of the
family is valued.
