La piel de un edificio es su fachada. Con ella lo protegemos de
cualquier acción de los agentes meteorológicos además de aportarle
un valor estético, decorando de esta manera el interior de nuestras
ciudades. Hoy por hoy el revestimiento de fachadas realizado con
materiales cerámicos es el más óptimo, y combinado con sistemas
adecuados de colocación, el que mejor responde ante las necesidades
que se plantean.
El sistema de Fachada Ventilada Cerámica que presenta Keraben Systems
está compuesto por una estructura portante formada por 3 elementos
principales: ménsula, perfil y anclaje o grapa. El anclaje tiene como
principal objetivo el resistir el peso propio del aplacado cerámico y
los esfuerzos producidos por vientos y sismos. La unión mecánica del
anclaje con la pieza cerámica se realiza mediante grapas o ganchos
que transmiten los esfuerzos cortantes y permiten la libre dilatación
o contracción del revestimiento. Los anclajes van unidos a perfiles
verticales, mediante tornillos autotaladrantes.

La función que desempeñan los perfiles verticales es recoger los
esfuerzos mecánicos provocados por los anclajes y transmitirlos a
la estructura del edificio. Para conseguir soportar estos esfuerzos
se anclan los perfiles utilizando ménsulas de fijación al muro del
edificio.

Keraben Systems’ Ceramic Ventilated Facade system is made
up of a support structure with 3 key elements: bracket, profile
and fastening or staple. The main aim of the fastening system
is to withstand the weight of the ceramic facing and the forces
produced by the wind and earth tremors. The fastening is attached
mechanically to the ceramic tile using staples or hooks that
transmit the shear stress and allow the facing to dilate and contract
freely. The fastening is connected to the vertical profiles by means
of self-tapping screws.

The function of the vertical profiles is to gather the mechanical
forces produced by the fastening system and pass them on to the
structure of the building. In order to withstand these forces, the
profiles are attached to the wall of the building using brackets.
This simple to assemble system provided by Keraben Systems,
together with the movements allowed by the fastening system,
ensures the ceramic tiles are correctly aligned vertically, thereby
preserving the quality of the facade’s appearance.

MEJORA SUSTANCIAL DE LA EFICIENCIA ENERGÉTICA DEL
EDIFICIO
SUBSTANTIAL IMPROVEMENT IN THE BUILDING’S ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Debido al mejor aislamiento térmico que se consigue gracias a la
creación de una cámara de aire entre el exterior y el interior del edificio
combinándolo con la instalación de un aislamiento térmico continuo
sobre la parte exterior del muro y los forjados.
El comportamiento de la fachada ventilada ante los agentes térmicos
produce un ahorro de energía directo. En verano, el sol incide
directamente sobre la baldosa cerámica y no sobre el edificio,
reflectando parte del calor radiante. A su vez el calor absorbido por la
baldosa cerámica produce el calentamiento del aire de la cámara de
ventilación, disminuyendo su densidad y provocando que ascienda
por convección, obteniendo una ventilación continua del aire a menor
temperatura.
En invierno, el aislamiento térmico continuo instalado en la fachada
impide la transmisión de calor al exterior del edificio. La estabilización
térmica del edificio también se ve favorecida por la circulación de aire
dentro de la cámara ventilada.
De este modo el ahorro energético de un edificio llega a ser de un 30%
respecto a otros sistemas tradicionales de colocación.
Due to the increased thermal insulation provided via the creation
of an air chamber between the inside and outside of the building,
combined with the installation of continual thermal insulation on the
outer part of the wall and floors.
The ventilated facade reacts to thermal agents in such a way that it
directly saves energy. In summer, the sun directly hits the ceramic tiles
and not the building, reflecting part of the radiant heat. In turn, any
heat absorbed by the ceramic tiles heats up the air in the ventilation
chamber, reducing its density and making it rise through convection,
ensuring a continual ventilation of air at a lower temperature.
In winter, the continual thermal insulation installed in the facade
stops heat from being transferred to the exterior of the building. The
building’s thermal stability is also helped by the circulation of air
inside the ventilated chamber.
Up to 30% of the energy consumed by the building can therefore be
saved compared with other traditional facade systems.

PROTECCIÓN CONTRA AGENTES ATMOSFÉRICOS
El sistema impide el deterioro y la aparición de humedades en la
obra de albañilería provocado por el agua de lluvia. Por un lado, el
aislante térmico continuo que permite instalar la fachada ventilada
evita las filtraciones de agua. Por otro, el bajo nivel de absorción de
la cerámica junto con la cámara de aire y las juntas abiertas, evita la
condensación de la misma.
El espesor de 13 milímetros con el que Keraben fabrica sus piezas
destinadas a fachadas ventiladas dota a las mismas de la resistencia
suficiente para soportar los esfuerzos mecánicos provocados por el
viento.

REDUCCIÓN DE LA CONTAMINACIÓN ACÚSTICA EN EL
INTERIOR DEL EDIFICIO
Debido a la aplicación de una capa continua de aislante y a la
creación de una cámara de aire en el exterior. De este modo se ayuda
al aislamiento acústico de los edificios contra el ruido aéreo.
Como consecuencia de la utilización de sistemas mecánicos de
rápido montaje, que evitan tiempos de espera provocados por el
fraguado de elementos de fijación, abaratando de este modo los
costes en la realización de la fachada.
Además, la facilidad de ensamblaje de los elementos que forman
el sistema, permite la sustitución de la pieza cerámica de forma
individual y sencilla.

The system stops deterioration and the appearance of damp in the
masonry due to rainwater. On the one hand, the continual thermal
insulation that can be installed with the ventilated facade stops water
from leaking in. On the other hand, the low absorption levels of the
ceramic material, together with the air chamber and the open joins,
avoid condensation.
Keraben provides its ventilated facade tiles with a thickness of 13
millimetres, making them strong enough to withstand mechanical
forces produced by wind.
REDUCTION OF NOISE POLLUTION INSIDE THE BUILDING
Thanks to the application of a continual layer of insulation and the
creation of an air chamber on the outside of the building. This helps
to insulate buildings against aircraft noise.

SEGURIDAD
Frente a desprendimientos gracias a la malla compuesta por materiales
poliméricos de gran ductilidad que se le adhiere al dorso de la baldosa
cerámica mediante resinas, evitando en caso de un impacto considerable
en la pieza cerámica, que al fragmentarse esta, se desprenda de los
anclajes que la unen a la estructura garantizando la integridad de la
pieza.
SAFETY
Against falling tiles thanks to netting made up of highly ductile
polymers that are attached to the back of the ceramic tiles with
resin. Consequently, if the ceramic tile is smashed, the netting does
not come away from the fastening attaching it and the tile to the
structure, thereby ensuring the tile remains whole.

Keraben Systems pone a su servicio un
equipo de profesionales coordinado en

En una primera fase, el departamento
técnico de Keraben Systems, estudia la
documentación del proyecto, proponiendo
la solución adecuada a las necesidades del
mismo, presentando documentos gráficos,
cálculo de costes y soluciones técnicas
para la correcta ejecución de los puntos
singulares de la fachada: recercado de
ventanas, esquinas, techos, estructuras
voladas, etc...
Posteriormente se plasma el despiece
realizado sobre plano a la estructura real del
edificio, realizando mediciones a pie de obra
y replanteando aquellas zonas donde fuera
necesario.
Una vez replanteado, equipos profesionales
de la instalación de fachada, comienzan la
instalación de la misma.

In the first phase, Keraben Systems’
technical department studies the project
documentation and proposes the solution
that best meets its requirements. It also
presents diagrams and other documentation,

are executed correctly: e.g. the frames
of windows, corners, roofs, corbelled
structures, etc.
Details designed on plan are then adjusted
to the real structure of the building, taking
measurements on site and altering plans
wherever necessary.
Once any necessary alterations have been
made, the professional teams of facade
installers start their work.

Keraben Systems presenta un sistema de fachada aplacada para dar solución a las fachadas que
requieren un alto valor estético que los sistemas de aplacado tradicionales no pueden ofrecer. La
variedad en formatos, acabados, y colores que proporcionan las baldosas cerámicas permite explorar
infinidad de combinaciones y dotar a la fachada de la expresividad requerida en cada proyecto.
El perfecto conocimiento de los materiales cerámicos junto con la experiencia de los productores de
adhesivos de calidad para la colocación cerámica, hacen de Keraben Systems la mejor solución para
el aplacado cerámico en fachadas. Garantizando la seguridad de la instalación mediante le inclusión
de anclajes de seguridad ocultos en la junta.
Este anclaje está diseñado para absorber los esfuerzos realizados por el peso propio de la pieza
cerámica, para que en el caso de desacoplamiento circunstancial de la baldosa cerámica, esta quede
fijada mecánicamente, pudiendo sanear posteriormente la zona afectada, sin que la baldosa llegue a
desprenderse.
La baldosa cerámica incluye ranuras en los bordes de las esquinas donde se introduce el anclaje de
seguridad, que mediante un taco autoexpansible queda fijado a la pared. Este proceso se realiza antes
de la operación de sellado de las juntas de colocación, ocultando de este modo el anclaje de seguridad,
garantizando el aspecto estético de la fachada.
La utilización de estos anclajes es de carácter obligatorio, según algunas normativas, a partir de
los tres metros de altura, siendo de vital importancia en proyectos donde se busque potenciar las
características estéticas de la cerámica utilizando grandes formatos cerámicos.

safety of the installation by including a safety fastening hidden in the join.
This fastening is designed to absorb the forces produced by the weight of the ceramic tile itself so
that, should the ceramic tile become loose, it is attached mechanically and the faulty area can be put
right without the tile falling off completely.
The ceramic tile has grooves on the edges of its corners for the safety fastening, which is attached to
the wall using a self-expanding plug. This process is carried out before the joins are sealed, thereby
hiding the safety fastening and preserving the appearance of the facade.
According to some regulations, this kind of safety fastening must be used as from three metres in
height and it is of vital importance in projects whose appearance requires the use of large format
ceramic tiles.

Al igual que en la realización de proyectos de Fachada Ventilada Cerámica, Keraben
Systems pone a sus servicio un equipo de profesionales coordinado en todas las fases
del proyecto con los agentes que intervienen, garantizando la correcta ejecución del
mismo.
Para la ejecución de proyectos, Keraben Systems asesora mediante la realización de
un Informe de Colocación de Fachadas Aplacadas.
En este informe se determinan los procedimientos y materiales adecuados para garantizar
el resultado final del proyecto, siguiendo las directrices marcadas por los fabricantes de
adhesivos, según estas reglas fundamentales:
-Empleo de adhesivos cementosos de clases C2 según UNE EN-12004 y C2 S2 según UNE EN-12002. Para formatos superiores a 1600 cm2 (40x40) es obligatorio
el uso de anclajes mecánicos para asegurar la adhesión.
-Elección del adhesivo adecuado según las condiciones ambientales de ejecución:
-En condiciones de viento, calor y/o sequedad, elegir un adhesivo clase E,
con tiempo abierto prolongado.
-En condiciones de frío, con riesgo de heladas nocturnas, elegir un adhesivo de clase opcional F, de fraguado rápido.
-En períodos de inestabilidad atmosférica, con riesgo de lluvias, elegir un
adhesivo de clase opcional F, de fraguado rápido, o proteger el tajo.
-Colocación de las baldosas con junta de colocación ancha (e > 10 mm), dimensionándola en función de las condiciones climáticas en servicio y de las dimensiones de las baldosas. Rellenar la junta con un mortero CG2 según UNE EN-13888
-Respetar las juntas de movimiento estructurales, tanto en situación como en dimensionado, y sellarlas con un elastómero.
-Disponer de juntas de movimiento que fraccionen el revestimiento y sellarlas con
un elastómero.
-Proteger el revestimiento de la penetración de agua, mediante el sellado elástico
de los encuentros con carpinterías y la disposición de elementos constructivos
específicos, como albardillas, goterones, etc.
As with Ceramic Ventilated Facade projects, Keraben Systems provides a team of
professionals coordinated with the agents involved throughout all the stages of the
project to ensure the project is carried out correctly.
When executing projects, Keraben Systems provides advice through its Installation
Report for Faced Facades.
This report determines the suitable procedures and materials to ensure the project is a
success, following guidelines set by adhesive manufactures and in accordance with the
following standards:
-Use of class C2 cement-based adhesives as per UNE EN-12004 and C2 S2
cement-based adhesives as per UNE EN-12002. Mechanical attachments must
be used to back up adhesion for formats larger than 1,600 cm2 (40x40).
-Choice of suitable adhesive according to the environmental conditions of the
building work:
-In conditions of wind, heat and/or drought, choose a class E adhesive, with
a longer setting time.
-In conditions of cold with risk of night-time frost, choose an optional class
F adhesive that sets quickly.

para la colocación de cerámica en revestimientos

Su alta densidad y baja porosidad, le confieren
excelentes propiedades mecánicas y químicas, que
le hacen ser altamente resistente a los ataques de

products created specifically for using ceramics as
exterior facings, either on ventilated or faced facades,
with large format products of great thickness, high

la norma ISO 10545-12 sin que se raye su
superficie ni se altere.
Estas propiedades, unidas a sus acabados
naturales y estructurados, lo hacen idóneo
para espacios exteriores, de alta montaña
o clima gélido.
Debido a la vitrificación a la que es
sometida la superficie de la pieza, ésta
rechaza los ataques de cualquier agente
externo, incluidos los más agresivos.
El proceso de gresificación de la estructura
de la pieza le proporciona una absorción de
agua prácticamente nula (<0,02%).
Su nula porosidad y gran resistencia a
las manchas lo convierten en un aliado
perfecto para espacios exteriores, donde
se busca un mantenimiento mínimo.
