aventura AL ESTILO ALPINO
Del Monte Everest se ha dicho: “el reto está todavía allí, pero la aventura ha desaparecido”.
La aventura, como la vida, los negocios o la montaña, requiere factores desconocidos, y en el Everest ya
no queda ninguno. Disfrutar de una aventura significa abrazar lo desconocido y aceptar que sólo se podrá
controlar la situación en el mismo momento y en el mejor de los casos sólo parcialmente.
Montañismo en el siglo XXI significa escalar al estilo alpino: en solitario, con un pequeño equipo, sin
apoyos externos y al modo más ligero posible, respetando el medio ambiente y la montaña y desafiando
sus propios términos.
Para este tipo de aventuras alpinas, China es un lugar completamente único ya que detrás del Himalaya
se encuentran cordilleras de picos de 6.000 metros completamente vírgenes y desconocidos.
En los últimos cinco años he tenido el privilegio de explorar estas montañas chinas, descubriendo la aventura en esta zona, pasando continuamente por sensaciones contrapuestas; éxitos y fracasos, excitación y
aburrimiento, satisfacción y frustración, belleza y peligro, decepción y descubrimiento.
El punto culminante hasta ahora ha sido nuestra primera ascensión al Xuelian West (6.422m) en el Tien
Shan, donde abrimos una estética pero difícil ruta que fue premiada con un Piolet d’Or. Otras recompensas
más duraderas son grandes amistades con personas de diferentes culturas y orígenes, especialmente con
el pequeño pero creciente grupo de alpinistas chinos.
Aquí me gustaría hacer una mención especial al infatigable aventurero Dongdong Yan, también miembro
del Equipo Internacional de Probadores de Bestard, y que ha realizado numerosas primeras ascensiones
en las montañas de su tierra natal. Además de realizar varias expediciones conjuntamente con él, compartimos también la preocupación por el medio ambiente de las montañas de China, ahora bajo amenaza
extrema, cuando la época del usar y tirar choca con una cultura nómada no acostumbrada a ningún tipo
de tratamiento ecológico de la basura. Trabajamos juntos para sensibilizar a los excursionistas y escaladores chinos, así como a la gente local (jinetes y ganaderos) sobre la necesidad de mantener nuestras
montañas y valles limpios.
Me gustaría expresar el generoso apoyo de Bestard tanto al desarrollo del alpinismo y las actividades de
outdoor en China, como a mí personalmente.
Cuando ya hay incógnitas suficientes, un escalador realmente quiere no tener que preocuparse por algo
tan fundamental como las botas.

PURE ADVENTURE - ALPINE style
Of Mount Everest is has been said ``the challenge is still there but the adventure has gone.’’
Adventure, whether in life, business or the mountains, requires unknown factors, and on Everest
there are none any more. Enjoying adventure means embracing unknowns and accepting that they
can be controlled only when met and at best only partially.
Mountaineering in the 21st century means alpine-style climbing: a single, small team, climbing
unsupported and in the lightest possible style, respecting the mountain environment and challenging it on its own terms.
For this type of alpine adventure, China is quite unique: behind the Himalaya lie ranges upon
ranges of unclimbed, unknown 6000m peaks.
In the last five years I have had the privilege of exploring China’s mountains, living at these
frontiers of adventure. I have experienced success and failure, excitement and boredom, satisfaction and frustration, beauty and danger and disappointment and discovery. The high point was
our first ascent of Xuelian West (6422m) in the Tien Shan, made by an aesthetic but difficult
route and honoured with a Piolet d’Or. Lasting rewards include firm friendships established with
people of many cultures and backgrounds, most notably the small but growing cadre of Chinese
alpinists.
Here I would like to make special mention of the indefatigably adventurous Yan Dongdong. Also
a member of the Bestard International Test Team, he has made numerous first ascents in the
mountains of his homeland. In addition to sharing several expeditions, we also share a concern
for the environment of the Chinese mountains -- now under extreme threat as the disposable age
collides with a nomadic culture unused to any form of eco-friendly rubbish treatment. Together
we are working to raise awareness among Chinese trekkers, climbers and locals (horsemen and
herdsmen) of the need to keep our mountains and valleys clean.
I would like to acknowledge the unstinting support of Bestard boots, both for the development of
alpinism and outdoor recreation in China and for me personally. When there are already enough
unknowns, a climber really does want to rely without thinking on something as fundamental as
his boots.
To me, Bestard is synonymous with this kind of reliability.

Although many of our boots may look similar on the outside, all of them are uniquely designed and made for the
requirements of each kind of activity and speciality.
To make your search and your choice easier, our range is divided into different families, depending on each activity and the technical difficulty of the terrain. These families are very broad definitions, and within each group
there is a variety of models to choose from: some are sturdier, some are softer, some are lighter, some are more

The ADVANCED TREKKING family incorporates a full range of differentiated technical mountaineering boots which
shares many characteristics with our High Mountain boots
in terms of support and protection. At the same time they
offer distinctive features in order to make them more versatile and comfortable during demanding and technical
trekking routes in medium- to high-mountain terrain, including semi-rigid soles and the use of lighter, more breathable
materials.
Except for the most technical climbs and extreme winter
ascents, these all-terrain boots will allow you to undertake almost any mountaineering activity. They are designed first of all to perform faultlessly during long, alpine
trekking routes in varying and challenging terrain and
weather conditions, but they are also perfect for activities such as moderately technical alpine climbs, via

thus been developed and the materials selected to satisfy without compromise the most demanding requirements
in the following essential areas:
GRIP: The Vibram® Best Idrogrip outsole offers optimal adhesion on wet and slippery surfaces. It’s also quite environment friendly, as its non marking properties ensures not to leave any prints on the rock.
DURABILITY: Careful selection of materials at the cutting edge of technology in boot manufacture provides maximum resistance to wear and tear both from mechanical abrasion and from permanent contact with water.
COMFORT-PROTECTION-SECURITY: The boot design, its low weight and its special lacing system offer maximum
adaptation to and support of the foot, guaranteeing high levels of comfort, efficiency and freedom of movement.
This translates to optimal performance from the same boot during both the approach and the water-intensive activity itself. Particular design features include efficient evacuation of water from the inside and the cuff-closure option
of the inbuilt gaiter which eliminates the entry of small pebbles or other small debris. Security is enhanced by our
special lacing system, ensuring that the boot stays put on the foot during the complete activity.

The trend towards increasing mobility and a shift in travelling habits toward shorter but more frequent
trips to both rural and urban destinations, as well as the urge for light and easy travel, has increased the
demand for comfortable, functional and lightweight travel clothes and footwear. Ideally, only hand luggage
and one pair of shoes should be enough to manage perfectly a variety of different activities during a short
trip, even if this means using the same shoe for enjoying the surroundings of a rural country hotel during
the day and for strolling in the city centre later in the evening.

Con un uso, mantenimiento y cuidado adecuados, podrás prolongar
considerablemente la vida útil de tus botas y aumentar la eficacia
y el disfrute durante la ruta. Por otra parte, un mal uso y mantenimiento generalmente tienen como consecuencia molestias y un
desgaste más rápido de tus botas.
ANTES DE CADA USO
> Comprueba que el forro GORE-TEX® está libre de restos de suciedad. Se recomienda sacudir o cepillar el interior, ya que las
pequeñas piedras etc. pueden dañar el forro, perjudicando la
impermeabilidad.
> Comprueba que llevas las uñas bien cortadas. Unas uñas largas
pueden causar daños en los dedos durante la ruta y también
pueden llegar a perforar la membrana GORE-TEX®
> Muy importante para la comodidad y para un aprovechamiento
óptimo de las características técnicas de la bota, es la selección
de un calcetín adecuado. Éste debe tener un buen ajuste al pie y
costuras planas para evitar rozamientos con la piel.
Es preferible que estén hechos de materiales que ayuden a expulsar la humedad, que sean de gran resistencia y que dispongan de un cierto nivel de acolchado. Muy importante es también
su capacidad termo-reguladora.
> A la hora de atar los cordones, procura encontrar el nivel adecuado; el pie debe estar firmemente ajustado dentro de la bota,
pero sin una presión demasiado fuerte, lo cual puede causar
dolor y / o restringir la circulación. Procura siempre tener una
buena holgura para los dedos (min. 1 cm. entre los dedos y punta de la bota) y una buena sujeción del talón.
> Los cordones están tratados para tener una alta resistencia a la
abrasión y para no absorber humedad, lo cual puede provocar
que sean algo más resbaladizas que unos cordones normales.
Para evitar que el nudo se desate, recomendamos nudos seguros, como por ejemplo el “nudo zapatero” o el “doble nudo”.
DURANTE EL USO
> La mayoría de nuestras botas llevan un sistema de bloqueo
de cordones. Esto puede ser útil, por ejemplo, para atar más
fuertemente la caña durante pasos complicados sobre terrenos
rocosos y luego volver a aflojarla durante rutas más fáciles, sin
que cambie en ningún momento la sujeción del pie.
> Para facilitar la evacuación del sudor, sobre todo durante rutas
largas y en climas cálidos, es conveniente llevar calcetines y
plantillas de repuesto y cambiarlos regularmente durante la
ruta.
> Evita un contacto prolongado con excrementos de animales, ya
que estos pueden dañar considerablemente la piel, la suela, los
ganchos etc.
LIMPIEZA Y CUIDADO DESPUÉS DE CADA USO
> Quitar la plantilla y dejar secar el calzado de forma natural, sin
exponerlo directamente a ninguna fuente de calor como fuego,
radiador, al sol, etc.
> Una vez que se haya evaporado toda la humedad, cepillar la suciedad de todos los materiales, sin olvidar la suela y el interior de la
bota.
> Si la bota ha estado expuesta a suciedad extrema, excrementos
de animales o a otras sustancias que puedan perjudicar los materiales, recomendamos lavarla con un cepillo bajo un chorro
de agua tibia, quitando antes la plantilla y los cordones si es
necesario. Es necesario volver a aplicar productos impermeabilizantes después de cada lavado.
> Para limpiar ocasionalmente la bota más ‘a fondo’ existen productos especiales.
> Por razones de higiene puede ser aconsejable lavar ocasionalmente el interior de la bota y el forro GORE-TEX®. Quita la plantilla (lavable) y lava con un cepillo bajo un chorro de agua tibia
(nunca usar jabón, detergentes o similar).
> Nunca lavar nuestros productos en ningún tipo de máquina lavadora.
> Una vez secas, guardar las botas en un lugar seco y ventilado.
No guardar la bota dentro de su caja.
MANTENIMIENTO E HIDROFUGACIÓN
> La piel es un producto natural que requiere mantenimiento para
no secarse y cuartearse. Es necesario aplicarle periódicamente
crema nutritiva para pieles.
> Para un correcto funcionamiento de la impermeabilidad de la
membrana GORE-TEX®, todos los materiales exteriores de
nuestros productos han sido sometidos a un profundo proceso
de hidrofugación. Para su mantenimiento, es necesario aplicar
periódicamente (y siempre después de cada lavado de la bota)
productos impermeabilizantes.
> Aplícale periódicamente vaselina a los ganchos metálicos como
protección contra la corrosión.

USO, CUIDADO Y MANTENIMIENTO
IMPORTANTE: Cualquier producto que se aplica sobre la piel de nuestras
botas debe ser apto para calzado con GORE-TEX®, como por ejemplo los
productos Bestard Boot Protection. La utilización de otros productos, sobre todo aquellos basados en grasas, aceites o silicona, podrían dañar la
capacidad de transpiración de la piel. Al mismo tiempo, un uso excesivo
de grasas podría tener un efecto negativo en la estructura de la piel.

Proper care and maintenance will extend the normal life of
your boot and will also improve efficiency and enjoyment during its use. On the other hand: inappropriate use and care
could lead to discomfort and premature ageing of the boot.
BEFORE EACH USE
> Check that the GORE-TEX® lining is free from any dirt.
We recommend that you shake the boot and brush the
lining, as small particles, like small pebbles, might damage the lining, impairing its water-proof capability.
> Check that you have trimmed your toe-nails. Long toenails can cause discomfort especially during descents.
They might also perforate the GORE-TEX® lining, causing water-leakage.
>Good socks are important for comfort and optimal use of
the technical features on our boots. Socks should have
a good tight fit to the foot and have flat seams to avoid
sore feet. The materials should be adequate for effective
moisture-management and expulsion of humidity. They
should be durable, provide protective padding and adequate thermo-regulation.
> When lacing the boot on, try to find the perfect pressure;
not too loose, which might allow foot and heel to move
inside, but not too tight in order to avoid discomfort
and restraint of blood-circulation. Be sure that there is
enough space between your toes and the end of the boot
(min. 1 cm), and that your heel doesn’t move.
> Our laces have been treated to have an excellent resistance to abrasion and to repel humidity. This may also
result in being slightly more slippery than common laces.
In order to avoid the shoelaces from coming undone, we
recommend to use a secure knot, such as the Turquoise
Turtle Knot (or Shoemaker’s Knot), Better Bow Shoelace
Knot, Surgeon’s Shoelace Knot etc.
DURING USE
> Most Bestard-boots are fitted with a system of laceblockers which help to avoid the shoes from coming off
even if the shoelaces come undone. This might be also
useful, when adjusting differentiated pressures of the leg
without changing the lacing over the foot.
>In order to help the evacuation of humidity considerably,
especially during longer routes in warm climates, it’s advisable to have a pair of easily accessible spare socks and
footbeds, and to change them regularly during use.
> Avoid prolonged contact with animal faeces, as these
might damage leather, sole, hardwear etc.
CLEANING AND CARE AFTER EACH USE
> Let your footwear dry naturally and don’t expose it to
direct heat like fire, radiators, the sun, etc. Take out the
footbeds for quicker drying.
> Once the different components are no longer damp,
brush off any dirt that might be left on any part of the
boot. Don’t forget the inner parts and lining!
>If your boots have been exposed to salt, extreme dirt, animal faeces or other substances which might damage the
materials, the boot should be cleaned with luke-warm
water and a brush before drying. NOTE: After having
cleaned with water and brush, it’s necessary to give the
boot a waterproofing treatment.
> To clean the boot more thoroughly, there are several special products available.
> For hygienic reasons it’s also advisable to occasionally
clean the inner parts and the GORE-TEX® lining. Remove the footbed (also washable) and clean with luke-warm
water and a brush (never use soap or other detergents).
>Never wash Bestard footwear in any kind of washingmachine.
> Once completely dry, store your footwear in a dry and
ventilated place. Don’t keep them inside the shoe-box!
LEATHER-CARE AND WATER-REPELLENCE MAINTENANCE
> Leather is a natural product which, exactly like human
skin, needs occasional treatment in order not to dry out
and crack. It’s therefore extremely important to give it a
regular treatment with a good shoe-cream.
>In order for the GORE-TEX® membrane to work correctly
and to keep the footwear waterproof, all leather and textiles on our products have all been given a thorough process of water-repelling treatment. In order to maintain
the water-repellence of the materials, we advise you to
treat them regularly (and always after each cleaning with
water and brush) with waterproofing products.
> Apply Vaseline occasionally to the metal hard-wear in
order to protect it from corrosion.
NOTE: Any product applied to our boots and shoes should
be appropriate for GORE-TEX® footwear. We recommend
the use of the specially developed Bestard Boot Protection
line. Other products, especially those based on greases,
oil and silicone, might damage the breathing capacity of
the leather. Excessive use of greases and similar might also
adversely affect the structure and sturdiness of the leather
and damage the parts made of natural rubber (outsole, toeprotecion, rand etc).

Para nosotros, hacer una bota técnica de alta calidad tiene dos aspectos muy distintos pero igual de importantes:

1.Una bota técnica ha sido individualmente y conceptualmente diseñada y fabricada, sólo usando materiales técnicos de primera calidad, para así poder
ofrecer a los usuarios una bota que responda completamente a sus necesidades, independientemente de la actividad.
2.Como calidad entendemos la suma de todos estos pequeños, pero tan importantes detalles que supone una fabricación semi-artesanal de botas, combinada con una selección cuidadosa de materiales y maneras de fabricar, que finalmente define el acabado de la bota, el confort y la duración.
Para asegurarnos que cumplimos con estas dos metas, trabajamos con una serie de controles de calidad externos e internos tanto de los productos, como
de la fabricación de los mismos.
DESARROLLO Y CONTROL DE CALIDAD DE NUEVOS PRODUCTOS
PRUEBAS DE MATERIALES NUEVOS: Antes de incorporar nuevos materiales, se encarga a laboratorios independientes, como p. ej. INESCOP, la tarea de realizar

To make a technical high quality boot, Bestard focuses on two different criteria of equal importance:

customers a product which efficiently meets their needs whatever their choice of activity
2.The quality lies in the small but so important details in semi-handcrafted boot-making combined with careful selection of materials, which eventually define the final appearance of the boot, its comfort and its durability.
In order to ensure that we keep up with these two quality goals, our processes of design, R&D and manufacturing are linked to a number of quality
controls and filters; both internal as well as external. Our quality-control procedures focus not only on our factory operations but on the material
supply chain as well as our finished products.
QUALITY CONTROL DURING RESEARCH & DEVELOPING PROCESS
Before a new product or model is put into serial production, the prototype has to pass the following filters and quality checks:

TESTS OF NEW MATERIALS: Before incorporating new materials we always send a sample to an independent specialized laboratory in order for
them to undertake severe tests of abrasion resistance, transpiration, water-repellence etc.
BIOMECHANICAL, ORTHOPAEDIC AND OTHER TECHNICAL ASPECTS OF OUR FOOTWEAR: Thanks to a close cooperation with the renowned
Biomechanical Institute of Valencia (IBV), we are able to undertake advanced scientific research, technological development, technical consultation
and training in biomechanics which helps us considerably to take the correct decisions regarding designs and materials.
TEAM OF ADVISING EXPERTS: A number of prototypes of any new model are sent to our international Bestard Test Team; a group of well renowned
and professional mountaineers and adventurers, who try out the boot in different terrains and weather conditions - often extreme ones. If they find
any kind of problem or technical failure on the boot, we will keep on modifying and improving it until we achieve the kind of boot we want to make,
and they want to wear. Because if a boot holds up to the rigorous standards of each Bestard Test Team member, then we can be confident that it
will work for our users as well.
CERTIFICATION BY W.L. GORE: All new models fitted with Gore-Tex-lining have to be tested and certified by the W. L. Gore laboratory in Germany

CONTROL DE CALIDAD DURANTE EL PROCESO DE FABRICACIÓN
Para asegurar que ninguna bota salga defectuosa del proceso de fabricación, realizamos los siguientes controles de calidad:
CONTROL DE MATERIALES: Los niveles de calidad de los materiales recibidos por nuestros proveedores son controlados y testados sistemáticamente para asegurar que cumplen los requerimientos de hidrofugación y transpiración exigidos.
TEST DE IMPERMEABILIDAD: Para controlar cualquier posible anomalía, el 100% de nuestros botines Gore-Tex son inflados
a presión y sumergidos en agua. Unos sensores electrónicos detectan el más mínimo desperfecto en la membrana o en sus
costuras termoselladas.
CONTROL DE ACABADO DURANTE Y DESPUÉS DE LA FABRICACIÓN: En cada estación de trabajo cada bota es sometida a un
rígido control óptico por parte del operario. Finalmente, una vez acabada la bota, revisamos la piel, aspecto y costuras hasta
el último detalle.
CONTROL DE CALIDAD DE PRODUCTOS ACABADOS
Para controlar que la fábricación mantiene siempre la misma calidad en el producto que se definió en su diseño original,
escogemos continuamente productos al azar de la cadena de producción, para realizar las siguientes pruebas:
IMPERMEABILIDAD DEL CONJUNTO DE LA BOTA: Una centrifugadora de alta velocidad se encarga de comprobar la impermeabilidad de la bota.
CONTROL EXTERNO DE CALIDAD TOTAL: El envío periódico al laboratorio de W.L. Gore tanto de materiales como de producto
acabado nos garantiza un control y una completa prestación de la bota acabada en cuanto a resistencia, impermeabilidad,
transpirabilidad, duración etc.
SEGUIMIENTO: La información de cualquier incidencia nos sirve para el trabajo de mejora continua. Aunque nuestro índice de
reclamaciones es muy bajo (menos del 0,5%), cada incidente reportado por nuestros clientes es analizado en profundidad para
poder eliminar posibles fallos en diseños, materiales o fabricación.

To ensure that no boot leaves the factory with quality problems, we undertake the following controls during the
manufacturing process:
MATERIAL CHECK: All components which are put into production are carefully checked upon reception from the
supplier. Each shipment of materials which have to fulfil our requirements of water-repellence and breathability are
subject to obligatory testing in a laboratory.
100% WATERPROOF TEST: Before assembling the boots, each and every Gore-Tex bootie is inflated under pressure
and submerged in water. Electronic sensors detect the slightest possible defect or malfunction of the membrane or
its thermo-sealed seams.
FINISHING CONTROL: At each work station each craftsman submits the boot to a rigid optical control. Finally, once
finished, we examine meticulously all the components of each boot down to the last detail: the upper, the seams,
wear and tear, the lining etc.
In order to ensure that the factory always maintains the pre-established quality levels of each product, we randomly
pick finished products for severe tests:
INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL WATER-TIGHTNESS TEST: A high-speed centrifuge tests the water-tightness of the whole
finished boot.
EXTERNAL TESTS FOR TOTAL QUALITY: Boots are sent to the laboratories of W.L. Gore for complete tests of durability
water-proof, breathability, resistance etc.
FOLLOW-UP: We welcome feedback from our customers. Although rare (less than 0,5%), any incidents reported back
to us by our clients are taken very seriously and carefully analyzed in order to track down and eliminate possible
failures in designs, materials and / or manufacturing.

que siempre hemos seleccionado las pieles de los mejores curtidores europeos. Independientemente del tipo de
piel y su uso, todas nuestras pieles han sido sometidas
a un tratamiento de hidrofugación total.
Cow-hide is the traditional material for mountain
boot uppers. It is a breathable natural product
with the softness and toughness to enable it to
withstand the rigours of professional use. If there
is something which has always been a tradition at
Bestard, it has been our strict policy of always choosing only the best European hides from the most
prestigious European tanneries. This results in the
characteristic high finish and quality of our boots
Regardless of type or end-use, all our leathers have
been impregnated thoroughly to ensure their world
renowned excellent Water-repellent qualities.

FULL GRAIN AND NUBUK LEATHER
Nobuk proviene de la piel flor, la piel más natural y original, en la cual se mantiene y trata la parte exterior
del cuero vacuno. En esta parte (epidermis, o flor) las
fibras están unidas fuertemente, haciendo que sea más
consistente, aislante y resistente al agua, frío y desgaste. Para obtener el aspecto de la cara aterciopelada de
la piel nobuk, esta capa superior ha sido ligeramente
lijada en su flor natural para abrir las celdas del pelo.

Nubuk is derived from natural full-grain leather. The
outer epidermal layer of natural leather is maintained because the fibres, or grain, are naturally very
close-bonded. This gives the leather a tough and
water resistant consistency, with natural insulation
against the cold. In order to obtain the characteristic velvety suede effect of Nubuk leather, the
natural grain is given a light sanding. This results
in more breathable, supple leather with a better
response to water-proofing agents but which retains
the desirable characteristics of full-grain leather.

Hide is usually split into several layers. The dermal
layer just below the grain is the layer we cure for
our split suede. We choose only the highest quality split leather, which has undergone sophisticated treatments to impart extra toughness and an
extraordinarily fine finished surface. In its thinner
versions, it is an excellent choice for breathable hiking, outdoor and travel footwear where lightness,
flexibility and softness are a priority.

For all our robust and tough split suede mountaineering, trekking and hunting boots we only use
extremely high quality split leather from the prestigious Perwanger® tannery. Situated in the middle
of the Tyrolean Alps, it has been manufacturing
high quality leather since 1780, and has become a

for mountain boots. Their process still uses artisan
techniques, and each and every leather is submitted to strict quality controls at each working station

A homologated synthetic textile with its natural appearance is famous for being extremely resistant to wear and tear, and for keeping its soft and comfortable look long
after other conventional materials appear worn out and old. The advantages of using
Cordura® in our boots are low weight and a soft and flexible touch. It is breathable
while also offering excellent water repellent qualities.
3: AIR-MESH & MESH
Materiales técnicos entre cuyas prestaciones más destacables hallamos su extraordinaria
transpiración e increíble ligereza. Al contrario que muchos otros materiales parecidos, el mesh
y el air-mesh usados en la parte superior de nuestro calzado son también repelentes al agua
y muy resistentes a la abrasión. La diferencia entre mesh y air-mesh reside en que el mesh
es un tejido muy delgado con un soporte detrás, mientras que el air-mesh por su estructura
acolchada no necesita soporte, por lo que su capacidad de transpiración es todavía mayor.
Highly breathable, lightweight fabrics. Unlike many other, similar materials, the airmesh and mesh we use in our uppers are also water-repellent and very resistant to
abrasion. The diference between the two materials is that mesh is a very thin material
which needs a supporting material attached, whereas the air-mesh due to its spongelike structure does not need any support, making it even more breathable.

GANCHOS Y FRENOS
En una bota técnica de alta calidad hay muchas piezas que no se pueden
ver, pero cuyo diseño, calidad y modo de aplicación juegan un papel decisivo
en el rendimiento de la bota y el confort del usuario.
Los ganchos son piezas fundamentales para la
seguridad en la montaña. Todos los ganchos utilizados por Bestard son resistentes a la corrosión
por un tratamiento HRT y están colocados en la
bota con gran precisión y control para que no se
suelten. Gracias a la poca fricción que causan
nuestros ganchos, los cordones corren con facilidad por los mismos, y su desgaste es mínimo.
Dos ejemplos de este tipo de materiales son:
> los soportes, los cuales dan cuerpo y robustez a la piel y a los tejidos.
> las esponjas anatómicas que dan comodidad, eliminan puntos de
presión y ayudan a fijar y sujetar el pie dentro de la bota.
Seleccionando aquí únicamente los mejores materiales, logramos dar rendimiento y confort durante toda la vida útil de la bota. Además, y gracias a la
estructura de células abiertas de estos materiales, su repelencia al agua y a
nuestro modo de aplicación por el sistema de encolado multipunto, logramos
que estas capas interiores no obstruyan la evacuación de la humedad creada en el interior de la bota ni que absorban el agua del exterior.
Por supuesto, nuestras esponjas mantienen su suave comfort y su capacidad de recuperar su forma durante toda la vida util de la bota.
La mayoría de nuestras botas de alta montaña y
trekking avanzado llevan un sistema muy sofisticado de ganchos de bola de acero inoxidable que
reduce la fricción sobre el cordón a cero. Así, ya
no es necesario el atado y desatado en cada uno
de los ojetes individuales, sino que basta tirar del
cordón desde arriba y bloquear con el freno para
atar, y desbloquear el freno para desatar.
SUPPORT AND PADDING
El sistema Quick Lock, incorporado en prácticamente todos los modelos, está compuesto por dos
frenos que permiten regular el atado de la caña
sin que cambie el atado del pie.
In a technical, high quality boot, there are many pieces and details
which you cannot see, but whose design, quality and manufacture play
a vital role in the comfort and high standards of the finished boot.
HARDWARE
Two examples of those materials are:
> The inner support of the leather and textiles, which make the boot
more stable and robust.
> The anatomical padding, which, if well and strategically placed, add
comfort, alleviate and soften the stress-points, improve the fit and
hold the foot firmly inside the boot.
Choosing only high-tech, high quality material for these elements, we
can guarantee the maintenance of comfort and stability during the complete lifetime of the boot. Thanks to the open-cell structure and waterrepellence of our materials, and the careful, manual methods of joining
the different layers by multi-point gluing, we manage to avoid these
materials either absorbing humidity from the outside or obstructing the
transfer of humidity towards the exterior of the boot.
Our padding material will of course maintain their perfect density and
its capacity to recover its shape during the complete lifetime of the
boot.
Quality hardware, such as hooks, brakes etc,
is fundamentally important for security in the
mountains. All hardware items used by Bestard are made from corrosion resistant materials and are mounted on to the boots, oneby-one, with great care and precision. Thanks
to the low friction caused by our hooks, the
laces run easily and abrasion is reduced to
a minimum.
Most of our boots for High Mountain and
Advanced Trekking are fitted with the sophisticated “Easy Running Quick Lock System”,
where stainless-steel balls provide a totally
frictionless run for the lace, and two clinchrings easily fasten or unfasten it. In practice, this system allows the user to tighten or
loosen the boot with one single pull, eliminating the need to pull up the lace at each
d-ring pair.
The Quick-Lock clinch-rings, standard in
most of our models, also allow the user to
regulate the tightness of the lacing in the leg
without changing the tightness over the foot.

The level of rigidity of a boot depends mainly on its midsole.
We use six different Bestflex midsoles made from different
materials, giving our boots five different levels of rigidity and
flexibility, each ideal for its intended use. The midsoles marked

additionally lined with PORON® Performance, which gives the
boot a high energy return and excellent impact absorption for
the complete life of the boot.

SUELAS DE GOMA
Una de las piezas más importantes de cualquier bota de montaña
es la suela.
En una bota hay, en principio, tres puntos clave para estudiar
lo referente a su suela: el compuesto de la goma, el cual tiene
que tener una óptima combinación entre agarre y resistencia, el
diseño de la suela y los tacos que tienen que proporcionar seguridad, confort y estabilidad en todas las actividades a realizar y
finalmente la calidad del montado.
Para poder cumplir con los dos primeros puntos mantenemos
desde hace décadas una estrecha colaboración con una de las
empresas más experimentadas en suelas de montaña: Vibram.
Su trabajo diario desde 1936, en una mejora continua en cuanto
a diseño y seguridad, les han convertido en auténticos expertos

One of the most important parts of a mountain boot is the
rubber sole.
A good sole should achieve the following three objectives:
the rubber-compound should have an optimal balance between traction, grip and resistance to wear and tear; the
design of lugs and sole should give comfort, stability and
security for a range of activities, and finally; the quality of
the mounting should avoid any risk of the sole coming off.
In order to achieve the first two objectives, decades ago we
initiated a very close and personal relationship with one of
the world’s most experienced manufacturer of rubber soles
for mountain boots: Vibram. Their dedication since 1936
to continuous improvement of design and safety has made
them true experts in the art of making excellent soles. On
our side, our experience of more than seventy years has
taught us how to fasten a sole on to the shoe so that it

La incorporación de suelas con el sistema BG3 Multifunction permite ofrecer botas que proporcionan un mejor agarre sobre superficies
resbaladizas (p.e. roca mojada, terrenos con musgo, nieve, hielo etc.),
aumentando asi la seguridad sobre todo en ambientes invernales.
Este novedoso sistema, mundialmente patentado por la empresa
italiana Frasson Solemakers, consiste en un avanzado proceso industrial que permite combinar varios materiales, para así poder aprovechar las ventajas de cada uno de éstos en una misma suela:

Todos los productos Bestard ofrecen una garantía que cubre desperfectos ocasionados por fallos en materiales o mano de obra, durante la vida
útil del producto. La vida útil de nuestro calzado no se puede determinar, debido a las múltiples variables que pueden afectar a la misma. Por ello,
esta garantía no cubre fallos causados por:
- desgaste normal por uso;
- un uso y / o cuidado inadecuado;*
- contacto con materiales agresivos, tales como fuego, cantos afilados (crampones etc.), excrementos de animales, materiales de obra etc.;
- decoloración causada por rayos UV;
- y similares.
En caso de que se produzca alguna anomalía, y para determinar si el fallo está cubierto por la garantía, debes limpiar las botas y devolverlas junto con
el ticket de compra al establecimiento donde las compraste para su primera inspección y posible posterior envío a Calzados Bestard, S.A. Deben estar
siempre incluidas en la caja una copia del ticket de compra, una nota con una descripción del desperfecto y los datos de contacto del propietario. Si
la bota no ha sido limpiada antes de su envío a Calzados Bestard SA, ésta será inmediatamente devuelta al propietario.
Tras una examinación realizada por el Departamento Técnico de la empresa, y en el caso de que el fallo esté cubierto por la garantía, Calzados Bestard
S.A. podrá bien repararlo, o bien reemplazarlo sin cargo en el caso de que una reparación resulte imposible.
En caso de que se demuestre que el artículo no lo cubre la garantía, será posible su reparación a cargo del consumidor final, previo consentimiento

of the imperfection and contact details of the owner. Boots which have not been properly cleaned before the shipment to Bestard will
be returned.
After being examined by our Technical Department, and if the imperfection is covered by the warranty, the boot may either be repaired
or - in case repair is not possible - replaced without charge.
Should the warranty be shown not to cover the boot due to reasons given above, the product may instead be repaired at the expense of
the owner; following his or her approval.
