Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults and Children
Come, learn about the Catholic Faith.
You are invited to come and attend RCIA sessions to
hear the teachings of the Catholic Faith. For those who
choose to do so, this process leads to the celebration of
the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and
Eucharist in whatever combination your situation calls
for. We have a year round process and work with each
individual’s background. Come try a session! Our next
gathering is THIS Tuesday, October 13th. We will meet
in St. Michael Hall from 7pm until 8:30pm.

Laudato Si: On Care for Our Common Home
Join Seminarian John Baab in a four-week course on Pope
Francis' recent encyclical, Laudato Si: On Care for Our Common Home. Come and explore the teachings of Pope Francis
on the environment and begin a dialogue on how we are
called to respond as Catholics. The course will begin on
Wednesday, October 21st, from 7-830 PM and run for four
Wednesdays in St. Michael Hall. All are welcome!
Lectio Divina for Women: Two opportunities
Morning Group: Every other Friday, 10 am - 11 am
Evening Group: Every other Wednesday, 7pm to 8:30pm
All women of the parish are welcome to join a Lectio Divina
prayer group. Groups meet alternate weeks, evenings or
mornings. All sessions are held in the Gathering Room of the
Church. Our Next Meetings are:

This is a wonderful way to prepare for the weekend readings
and to share a prayer experience with other women of the

Fr. James Martin Tickets Available
We have a block of tickets available for Jesuit priest and author Fr. James Martin, SJ, who will present his talk on Friday,
November 6th, at 7:30 pm. Doors open at 6:30 pm at the
Lecture site: Bethel Church, Todds Lane in Hampton. Tickets

Catholic Book Study Our book discussion continues this
THURSDAY, October 15th. We are reading: The Way of Serenity: Finding Peace and Happiness in the Serenity Prayer authored by Father Jonathan Morris. We meet at St. Michael
Hall from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and you are welcome to
join in! At this session we will discuss Part II: Part2 Intro and
Chapters 16 – 22, pages 91-126.
Diocese of Richmond Conferences
The Catholic Women’s Conference: “Women on the Way”
will be held at the Richmond Convention Center on Saturday,
November 21. Guest Speakers are Pat Gohn and Rachel Sherburne. Registration is 8-9 am and the conference concludes
with a Vigil Mass for Sunday at 3:15 pm. General Admission is
$45 and is open to all women over 18. Register directly with

send a parish bus if there is enough interest.

The Catholic Men’s Conference: “Lions to Lambs” will be
held at the Richmond Convention Center on Saturday, January 16, 2016. Speakers are Mark Hart and Fr. Dan Beeman.

is the central mystery of our Christian faith and life. As children grow in understanding, parents, too, will be invited to
deepen their own faith and strengthen the Catholic identity
of their family.

Upcoming VIRTUS TRAINING
The Diocese mandates that all those who minister with children or youth must take this training prior to volunteering.
All parents using the Cooperative Nursery at OLMC must be
trained as well.

Youth Ministry
Senior Youth Group
The next Senior Youth Group meeting will be next Sunday, October 18,
in St. Michael Hall. It will start after
the 5pm Mass and wrap up at 8pm.
All high schoolers are invited to
attend!

SYG meeting should reach out to Patrick Walsh directly or

Middle School Youth Rally
For the sixth year, the Diocese of Richmond will be hosting a Middle School
Youth Rally, which is intended to be a high
-energy day that will integrate fun and
community building with the richness of
the Catholic faith. The event is open to all youth in 6th-8th
grade. This year’s Rally will include fun events, keynote addresses, Catholic Olympics, Lunch, and Mass!
When: Sunday, October 25, 10:00am-5:00pm
Where: Bishop Sullivan High School, Virginia Beach
Cost: $35 to cover admission, lunch, a give-away item,
and a t-shirt featuring the theme logo

Kingdom Kids Nursery (1-3 yrs) meets for the duration of
Mass, every Sunday.

for the duration of the Mass. (Starts again in January)

Kingdom Kids Worship (1st – 5th grades) Children process
out at Mass & return before the Eucharist.
Kingdom Kids Worship meets the first, second and third
Sundays most months.

First Sacrament Preparation:

Please bring travel size toiletries:
toothpaste, individually packaged
toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, lotion, mouthwash, deodorant and hand sanitizer. The children will assemble personal care kits at the workshop. Parent and child should attend together.
Children must be registered before attending the
session. The at home study materials were handed out at the
Parent Orientation as well as the Sacrament Booklet with
dates and home assignments. Contact Christa in the parish
office for more information or to register.
Baptism at OLMC are celebrated on scheduled times throughout the year. Whether
you are parents-to-be, parents of an infant,
or parents of a young child, we invite you to
consider having your child baptized into the
Catholic faith at Our Lady of Mount Carmel
Church. Parents are encouraged to register
early to accommodate family and godparents schedules.

affects not nameless, faceless people, but other human beings:
people with families, hopes, and dreams for a better future.
Allow us to work hard to bring about a positive change in the
lives of these people.

Circle of Hope - Next Saturday
The Circle of Hope is a group of cancer
survivors and those dealing with cancer
or chronic illness. We welcome you to
join us. Our sessions include prayer,
DVD, sharing and even laughs. This is an

Twice a year the men of the parish
get together for some fellowship,
fun and food. All Men of the Parish
are invited to come out on FRIDAY,

cookout, play some corn hole and
enjoy each other’s company during
this event. We especially reach out to those who are new
to the parish. This is a great way to meet other guys and
get to know what the Parish has to offer. Please make a

Outback Dinner Fundraiser
Come and enjoy a delicious dinner from Outback Steak

sold after all Masses this weekend and at the Parish Office.
OLMC School Cornerstone Dinner Our Lady of Mount
Carmel School invites you to our annual Cornerstone Dinner

games or really for any reason! We will also continue
the collection of clean, gently used coats, sweatshirts,

aquellas personas que no han recibido su carta o no han tenido tiempo para responder, les queremos comunicar que durante las misas del 3 al 4 y del 10 al 11 de octubre realizaremos la Colecta de sus donativos para esta colecta. Es muy
importante que todos nosotros contribuyamos con nuestra
donación en la Colecta 2015.
Dar de comer al hambriento, apoyar a nuestro clero, evangelizar a las personas en la diócesis, enseñar y pasar la fe de las
ricas tradiciones católicas a nuestros hijos, son los componentes del gran trabajo que tenemos que llevar adelante
para alcanzar la misión de la iglesia Católica. Todos estos
ministerios son componentes vitales en la Colecta Anual.
Además, todas las parroquias recibirán una porción de los
fondos recaudados, para ser usados en sus prioridades locales. Esta año, los fondos que se devolverán a nuestra parroquia serán usados en apoyar nuestros ministerios ya existentes, incluyendo la ayuda a los necesitados, formación de fe,
ministerio de inclusión de los feligreses con necesidades especiales y más. Los fondos también nos permitirán, desarrollar nuevas iniciativas para continuar con nuestra misión de
encontrar a Jesucristo en OLMC y llevarlo al mundo.
Si usted desea, podrá hacer su donación en 10 cuotas mensuales, lo cual hace que con facilidad apoyemos a los ministerios de nuestra iglesia diocesana, mientras cubrimos las necesidades de nuestras parroquias. Agradecemos de antemano su generosa colaboración en esta Colecta 2015.
