LATINO CITIZEN POLICE ACADEMY
“UNDERSTANDING THROUGH EDUCATION”
We strongly believe that a positive relationship between police and the community is essential to
achieve our common goals. The Latino Citizen Police Academy helps build that relationship.
The Latino Citizen Police academy is a ten-week program designed to provide a unique glimpse “behind
the badge”. The Mundelein Police Department’s Latino Citizen Police Academy provides an excellent
opportunity for citizens, who live and /or work in or near the Village of Mundelein, to become familiar
with the day-to-day operations of the Police Department, as well as gain a greater awareness of the
daily challenges faced by its officers.
Attendees will learn about departmental resources and programs and, more importantly, the men and
women who comprise the Mundelein Police Department. Classes will be a combination of lectures and
interactive activities led by many police department divisions, with topics such as special operations,
911 communications, firearm use and safety, crime prevention, crime scene investigations, and selfdefense.
Upon successful completion of the Latino Citizens Police Academy, participants attend a graduation
ceremony and are awarded a certificate of attendance. The safety and security of our community
depends on the active cooperation and participation of all its citizens. It is hoped that graduates of this
program will be motivated to continue as active partners and join the Citizen Police Academy Alumni
Association to continue their relationship with the Mundelein Police Department.
The program is open to the residents, ages 18 – 55, of the Village of Mundelein and neighboring towns.
There is no cost to attend the Latino Citizen Police Academy.
Classes are held for 10 weeks on Thursday evenings from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Classes are held at the
Mundelein Police Department, 221 North Lake Street, Mundelein. Please be advised that this program
will be predominately in Spanish.

ACADEMIA POLICIACA PARA LATINOS
“ENTENDIENDO ATRAVEZ DE LA EDUCACION”
Creemos firmemente que una relación positiva entre la policía y la comunidad es esencial para lograr nuestros
objetivos comunes. La Academia Policiaca para Latinos ayuda a construir esa relación.
La Academia Para Latinos es un programa de diez semanas diseñado para ver que hay “detrás de una placa de
un oficial”. Las academias del Departamento de Policía de Mundelein ofrecen una excelente oportunidad para
los ciudadanos, que viven o trabajan en o cerca del Pueblo de Mundelein, para familiarizarse con las operaciones
del día a día del departamento de policía y también para tener el mayor conocimiento de los desafíos que
enfrentan los oficiales.
Los participantes aprenderán acerca de los programas y recursos departamentales y lo más importante de los
hombres y mujeres que componen el Departamento de Policía de Mundelein. Las clases serán un combinación
de conferencias y actividades interactivas dirigidas por diferentes divisiones del Departamento de Policía de
Mundelein, con temas como operaciones especiales, comunicaciones del 911, uso de armas de fuego y
seguridad, prevención de crimen, investigación de escenas de crimen y defensa personal.
Una vez que exitosamente completen la Academia de Policía los participantes participaran en una ceremonia de
graduación y se les entregara un certificado de asistencia. La seguridad de nuestra comunidad depende de la
cooperación y participación de todos los ciudadanos. Esperamos que los graduados de este programa estén
motivados a continuar y participar con la Asociación de Antiguos Alumnos para continuar la relación con el
Departamento de Policía de Mundelein.
El programa esta abierto para residentes entre las edades 18-55 años del Pueblo de Mundelein y pueblos
vecinos. No hay ningún cobro para asistir a la Academia de Policía.

We will be holding the next Latino Citizen Police Academy, beginning Thursday’s, March 3, 2016
through May 5, 2016. This 10 week program will consist of one class each Thursday from 7:00 PM to
9:00 PM at the Mundelein Police Department, 221 North Lake Street, Mundelein.
There is no cost to attend. Class size is limited and will be filled on a first-come basis.
