Where: Columbia Metropolitan Conven6on Center,

Welcome the Visiting Madonna
While we are encouraged to embrace Jesus’
cross, perhaps the next best thing we can do as
the faithful is to turn to the Blessed Mother for
guidance…”Blessed Mother, please help me.” As
human beings, we can’t do everything. But the
Blessed Mother can go to her Son Jesus and do
wonders.
The Knights of Columbus are offering intimate prayer devotions
in your own homes to all parishioners so that every family may
experience visitation for one week from our Visiting Madonna.
Families will begin to experience a sense of peace, quiet and
reflection while saying the Rosary as a family with Our Lady.
The family that prays together stays together.
If you are
interested in participating in welcoming the Visiting Madonna,
please call Frank Coury at (720) 394-1952 or email him at
[email protected].
This week, The Visiting Madonna will be presented to
Fred & Christine Kleczkowski at the 5:00 PM Mass.

Diocesan Youth Ministry
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As you are aware, the Office of Youth and
Young Adult Ministry in the Diocese of
Charleston exists to draw young people to
responsible participation in the life, mission,
and worship of the Catholic Church. Our team
does this with passion and purpose. Every
day, they seek to achieve the goal of
encouraging, equipping and affirming youth
leaders and the youth to encounter the Risen Jesus. Yet, there is
an underlying belief that there is more work that that can be
done to impact our youth.
I am pleased to report that, beginning in August, our own
Diocesan Missionary Team will begin training in Charleston in
preparation for a September rollout. Through retreats for our
parishes and Catholic Schools, the team will assist our youth and
campus ministers in their evangelization efforts. The DMT will
serve as a dynamic tool that will allow us to fulfill St. John Paul
II’s mandate for a new evangelization in a very powerful and
tangible way. It is my belief that the DMT will radically
challenge and encourage our youth to embrace the life and
mission of the Catholic church.
On August 14, 2016 through second collection efforts, our
parishes will have the opportunity to help fund some of the
excellent programming offered through the Office of Youth
and Young Adult Ministry. 50% of the funds collected will be
used to offset the start-up costs of the DMT program. The other
50% will be used to provide scholarships for youth to attend
programs such as the Diocesan Youth conferences, retreats and
summer camps who otherwise might not have the opportunity
due to financial constraints.
I am immensely proud of the work that has been done by the
Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry. Please prayerfully
consider supporting the second collection effort to allow them to
continue to do the important work that they do.
In the Lord’s Peace,
Most Reverend Robert E. Guglielmone
Bishop of Charleston
Iglesia Católica Nuestra Señora Estrella del Mar
MUCHAS GRACIAS QUERIDAS COMUNIDADES DE:
THANK YOU
NUESTRA SEÑORA ESTRELLA DEL MAR - LORIS - SAN ANDRES Y
DEAR COMMUNITIES OF
SAN CIPRIANO.
OUR LADY STAR OF THE SEA CATHOLIC CHURCH,
Queridos Hermanos:
CATHOLIC CHURCH OF THE RESURRECTION,
AND ST. CYPRIAN CATHOLIC CHURCH.
Dear Brothers and Sisters:
Five years ago, I came to work in this area of the coast of
Myrtle Beach. I arrived with great joy and happiness because
everything was new for me: the scenery, the beach and
most importantly, each of you dear parishioners. Someone
told me “Do not be so happy, because this happiness will be
short-lived”. And it is true. The end of my 6me here has
come. I have to go. The Bishop of Charleston has moved me
to Greenville SC to assist in the parishes of St. Mary, St.
Sebas6an and Our Lady of Lourdes in Greenwood.
First, I want to thank God for allowing me to work with each
of you. In a very special way, I want to thank Father Anthony
Droze for allowing me to work in the parish of Our Lady Star
of the Sea and Catholic Church of the Resurrec6on in Loris.
You, dear Father Tony, have been more than a boss-- you
have been like a father and a great friend who understood
me and helped me to grow spiritually in my ministerial
priesthood. Thank you, Father Tony, for your support and
friendship. I also want to thank Father Morgan, the Knights
of Columbus, and the dear office staff: Linda, Vicki, Rosie,
Nicole, Lucy; Steve and Rich, Sister Glafira and the en6re
team of the beloved parish of Our Lady Star of the Sea and
the Catholic Church of the Resurrec6on.
Secondly, I want to thank Father James LeBlanc and his
en6re team, and Father Ronald and Sister Sandra, for
allowing me to work in the parishes of St. Andrew and St.
Cyprian. Thanks for your support and friendship.
Thank you with love to all of you parishioners at each church.
Thank you for opening the door to my heart. Throughout
these five years, I learned a lot from you--I learned the value
of life and the value of sincere friendship. I learned that by
working together as a team, wonderful things are achieved.
And I feel fortunate to have met people as valuable as all of
you. Most of you parishioners became my friends, my
brothers and my family. There are so many beau6ful and
wonderful things that will remain as an indelible memory in
my heart. You are hardworking people, humble and simple
people, hospitable and welcoming people, people of great
ethical, moral and Chris6an values.
I only ask you to pray for me, for my priestly voca6on, my
new workplace, for the new challenges that I’ll take on. I will
always pray for you and will always carry you in my heart.
God bless and hope to see you in Greenville SC.
Cordially,
Father Orlando
ustedes queridos feligreses. Alguien me dijo: No te pongas tan
Gracias querido
Me pude dar
gente trabajadora, gente humilde y sencilla, gente hospitalaria y
Greenville. Los quiero mucho y los voy a extrañar. Solo me resta,
Cordialmente;
Padre Orlando.
