INFANT BAPTISMS
For children under 7 years of age, the sacrament is celebrated the
FIRST Sunday of the month at 2:00 pm. The par ents must r egister in the parish office at least 4 weeks prior to the baptism. Both
parents and godparents are expected to attend one catechetical session
in advance, on the Wednesday before the baptism, at 7:00 pm.
SACRAMENTS OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION
Before being fully initiated into the sacramental life of the Church,
children over the age of 7 will need catechetical pr epar ation
through the RCIC process. Teenagers and adults will participate in
separate RCIA pr ocesses.
CONFIRMATION and COMMUNION
For those already baptized, preparation for these Sacraments will take
place according to the person’s age and knowledge of the Catholic
Faith. For further information contact the Office of Faith Formation
Program.
MARRIAGES
Couples should contact the parish office at least six months in
advance to make the pr oper ar r angements for the Sacr ament of
Matrimony.
ANOINTING OF THE SICK
Please contact the parish office.
RECONCILIATION
A priest is available for Confessions on Saturday afternoon from
3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. You can also make an individual appointment.

EL BAUTISMO DE NIÑOS
Solamente para los niños menores de los 7 años de edad, se celebra
el sacramento el SEGUNDO y el CUARTO domingo del mes a las
2:00 pm. Es preciso que los padres se inscriban en la parroquia por
lo menos 4 semanas antes del bautismo. Ambos padres y padrinos
deberán asistir a una instrucción catequética, la noche del Miercoles
anterior al bautizo a las 7:00 pm.
SACRAMENTOS DE LA INICIACIÓN CRISTIANA
Con el propósito de participar plenamente en la vida sacramental de
la Iglesia, los niños mayores de los 7 años de edad, necesitarán
prepararse en el proceso de Iniciación Cristiana Para Niños. Los
jóvenes y los adultos se preparán separadamente en el proceso del
RICA.
CONFIRMACIÓN Y COMUNIÓN
Para los que ya están bautizados, la preparación para estos Sacramentos se llevará a cabo de acuerdo con la edad de la persona y su
conocimiento de la Fe Católica. Para más información comunicarse
con la Oficina de Formación de la Fe.
MATRIMONIOS
La pareja deberá de comunicarse con el despacho pastoral y hacer
su solicitud por los menos seis meses antes de la fecha de la boda,
para entrevistarse con el sacerdote e iniciar la preparación matrimonial.
UNCIÓN DE LOS ENFERMOS
Favor de comunicarse con el despacho pastoral.
RECONCILIACIÓN
El Sacramento se celebra semanalmente los sábados de 3:30 pm a
4:30 pm. También se puede fijar una cita para la Confesión otro día
de la semana con un sacerdote.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Dear Parishioners,
The city has laid new asphalt on 80th Street and 25th Avenue. Taking care of roads is
necessary maintenance for people to get to where they need to go. It reminds me of the many
things that we need to do for our good and the good of those around us.
It was in the first Sunday of this month that our church began to announce the Generations
of Faith Campaign at the Masses. This is the Capital Campaign of the Diocese that has the
following three goals: 1) help the parish itself, 2) give aide to retired and infirmed priests and
3) help parishes to make greater efforts to reach out to the youth in our congregations. Last
Sunday we held a reception in English to present material on the campaign. This Sunday,
August 21st at 11:45 in Fatima Room below the rectory, is our reception in Spanish. I ask
that all the members of our parish to please pledge what you are able to in the Generations
of Faith Campaign. Its three goals are needs that exist in all Dioceses.
Let us use this road of charitable giving to provide for our parish and the generations that
have helped the church in the past as priests as well as the younger generation that needs
support and guidance to discover and live out its vocation now and in the future. Your help
is important. May you enjoy the rest of the summer.

La ciudad ha colocado nuevo asfalto en la calle 80 y avenida 25. Cuidar de los caminos es
un mantenimiento necesario para que las personas puedan llegar a donde tienen que ir. Me
recuerda a las muchas cosas que tenemos que hacer por nuestro bienestar y el bienestar de
los que nos rodean.
El primer domingo de este mes nuestra iglesia comenzó a anunciar la Campaña de Generaciones de Fe en las misas. Es una campaña capital de la diócesis que tiene los tres objetivos siguientes: 1) ayudar a la parroquia en si, 2) dar ayuda a los sacerdotes retirados y enfermos y 3) ayudar a las parroquias hacer esfuerzos mas grandes para llegar a los jóvenes en
nuestras congregaciones. El domingo pasado se celebró una recepción en inglés para presentar el material de la campaña. Este domingo, 21 de agosto a las 11:45 en el Salón Fátima en
el sotano de la rectoría, será nuestra recepción en español. Pido a todos los miembros de
nuestra parroquia que por favor prometan lo que les es posible en la Campa1a generaciones
de Fe. Los tres objetivos son necesidades que existen en todas las diócesis.
Utilicemos esta vía de donaciones de caridad para proveer para nuestra parroquia y las
generaciones que han ayudado a la iglesia en el pasado como sacerdotes, al igual que las
generaciones más jovenes que necesitan apoyo y guía para descubrir y vivir su vocación,
ahora y en el futuro. Su ayuda es muy importante. Que disfruten todos el resto del verano.

FAITH FORMATION OFFICE
The Faith Formation Program of our parish has begun Registrations for the summer. Please register in the rectory.
We are in need of Substitute Teachers/Catechists to serve our community as well as the program. We urge you to please volunteer
your time to the Sunday school program. We will train and assist you in your journey as a Substitute. If you have any questions or
would like to volunteer, please contact the office directly at 718-457-3457.
All children who attend the Public Schools are urged to attend Sunday school from Grades 1 through 8. High School students who
desire to receive the Sacraments of Holy Eucharist and Confirmation are also welcome to sign up as well and they will be instructed according to their age group.

documents that may have legal or religious purposes, it is required that persons requesting those documents be registered parishioners and be active members of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. We can not give
any of these documents to persons not registered in the parish.
