XXX Domingo en Tiempo Ordinario

Mientras mas años tengo, me doy cuenta que las cosas se me olvidan mucho más fácil que
antes. En la adolesencia y cuando todavía estaba en los 20, me acuerdo que yo lo sabía todo, o por lo
menos tenía una opinión acerca de todo. ¿Pero dónde se fue todo el conocimiento de mi juventud?
Ahora, a veces, yo tengo dificultades en comprender la pregunta, y encontrar soluciones para ofrecer.
Quizás, la sabiduría de la edad es darse cuenta de lo poco que de verdad sabemos, y de cuánto usted y
yo dependemos de Dios para poder entender el mundo. Una área donde me quedo completamente
perplejo es la experiencia de las personas que son ciegas. Yo no puedo entender lo que significa ser
totalmente dependiente de otros para la vista. Pienso que es maravilloso que la tecnología ha abierto
tantas puertas a los no videntes. Quizás viviré para ver un dispositivo semejante al injerto auricular para
el sordo que le ayude a los ciegos poder ver. Pero yo personalmente no sé lo que ser ciego, de depender
totalmente de otros para que me muevan. En el Evangelio, Bartimeo dependia de otros para la vista.
Pero podía oír bien. Oyó que Jesús de Nazaret pasaba por ahi, así que le llamó. Fue curado. Y entonces,
Bartimeo hizo algo que una persona ciega no puede hacer. Siguió a Jesús, no sólo en sentido figurado,
pero literalmente. Bartimeo se fue detrás de Jesús junto con los otros discípulos del Señor. Pero el
Evangelio tiene un nivel más profundo. Habla de las almas que son ciegas a la Presencia de Dios y no lo
puede seguir. Sólo los que están dispuestos a tomar un paso de fe, un esfuerzo de fe, y buscar al Señor
lo puede seguir. Debemos reflejar la alegría profunda que el Señor ha traído a nuestras vidas. Nos ha
dado la vista. Podemos ver a donde vamos. Lo podemos seguir. Podemos ir a ese lugar donde existe
toda la felicidad. Nuestra alegría es darnos cuenta al igual que Bartimeo nosotros ya no somos ciegos.
Podemos seguir al que da Luz a nuestras vidas. Que nosotros tengamos el valor para vivir en Su
LuzInvite a sus familiares, amigos, vecinos y compañeros de trabajo a participar de la Santa Misa
cada domingo.
As I get older, it seems that I forget things a lot easier than before. In my early teens and
through my 20’s it seems that I knew everything, at least I had an opinion about everything. But where
did all the knowledge of my youth go? Now, sometimes, I have difficulties understanding the question
let alone offer solutions. Perhaps, the wisdom of age is realizing how little I know, and how much you
and I are dependent on God to step into his view of the world. One area where I am completely at a loss
is the experience of the people who are blind. I cannot fathom what it is like to be totally dependent on
others for sight. I think that it is wonderful that technology has opened so many doors for the blind.
Perhaps I will live to see a device similar to the auricular implant for the deaf to give sight to the blind.
But I do not know what it is like to be blind, to be dependent on others to lead me. On the Gospel,
Bartimaeus was dependent on others for sight. But he could hear well. He heard that Jesus of Nazareth
was passing by, so he called out to him. He was healed. And then, Bartimaeus did something a blind
person cannot do. He followed Jesus, not just figuratively, but literally. Bartimaeus walked behind
Jesus along with the other disciples of the Lord. But the Gospel has a deeper level. Those whose souls
are blind to the Presence of God cannot follow him. Only those who are willing to take a step of faith, a
leap of faith, and seek out the Lord can follow Him. We need to reflect on the profound joy the Lord
has brought to all of our lives. He has given us sight. We can see where we need to go. We can follow
Him. We can go to that place where all happiness dwells. Our joy is realizing that like Bartimaeus we
are not blind any more. We can follow the One who gives Light to our lives. May we have the courage
to live in His Light. Invite friends and family to join us for Holy Mass on Sundays.
