by coach and on foot
TNG001
Tetouan is picturesquely situated on the nothern
slopes of the Djebel Dersa mountain and
overhangs the fertile and green orchard filled
valley of the Oued Martil.
Tetouanis affectionately call their city ‘The
Daughter of Granada’ as it is dominated
architecturally by the Hispanic influence. You’ll
see the odd mix of Spanish and Moorish
architecture, white walled houses and green tiled
roofs. Tetouan was built by Muslim refugees from
Spain in the 15 th century, and was expanded by
the Spanish government in the 20th century.
Explore enchanting Tetouan, a city which
holds all the fascination you would expect
from Morocco.
Begin your tour at the Souk el Hots, followed by
the Guersa El Kebira Square, with its traditional
fabric shops, and make a stop at the Place de
l’Usàa, where you will see some impressive
architecture.

labyrinth of alleyways of the Médina. Due to its
relatively small size, it offers visitors a chance to
explore without getting hopelessly lost. There are
3 distinct sections of the Médina, the Andalucian,
Jewish, and Berber sections, which now form a
part of UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
A welcoming refreshment of mint tea and a
pastry will be served at a local restaurant to give
you time for peaceful contemplation.
Finally you’ll view the exterior of the impressive
King’s Palace before heading back to the ship.
