We offer two different sections of band, with students grouped together by class. Band classes will meet on Tuesday and Friday afternoons from 3:30 - 4:15 and from 4:15 - 5:00 PM. Area-Wide Enrichment Classes Harmony Science Academy Band Members are also members of the entire Music Learning Band Program. This allows your band members to collaborate and perform with band members from area schools for big concerts and events throughout the school year. We host free, optional Saturday Enrichment classes twice a month, open to all students in our program. These free, additional classes reinforce and enhance what the band members learn during the week at their school. Richardson Christmas & Holiday Parade/Concert In December, all band members perform in the Richardson Christmas Parade. This is the first concert for the Beginning Band members. Last year over 630 young musicians performed in the parade! This unique opportunity to play for a huge audience, including TV cameras, newspaper photographers, and other local media, gives the musicians a chance to really shine. Annual Spring Tour One of the most exciting experiences of being in a band is going on tour! Parents and family members are encouraged to attend the annual tour with their young musicians. Our past destinations have included Memphis, TN, Houston, TX, Winter Park, CO, Galveston, TX, and San Antonio, TX. We have performed at Graceland Mansion, the Memphis Zoo, the Bill Clinton Presidential Library, NASA Space Center Houston, Moody Gardens, The Alamo, Natural Bridge Caverns, Sea World, and more! In 2015, the band performed in Keystone, CO for a Spring Concert Tour and Ski Trip! What Does Band Cost? There is no additional fee to join the band, but you will need an instrument if you don’t already have one. Brook Mays Music Company offers an affordable rent-to-own option for $21 per month + tax if you need an instrument. That’s it! Instruction, music, and classroom materials are provided at no additional cost to you. ABOUT US Founded: 1984 Band Directors: 10 Band Directors Schools: Over 30 and growing Students: Over 1400 Experience: For 30 years, Music Learning has taught thousands of young musicians in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex. From beginning elementary school students to high school students preparing for a music career, we foster a positive learning environment for every member of the band. Method: Bands rehearse as an ensemble, where all instruments learn together. We create our own class materials including theory studies, rhythm studies, technical studies, and song arrangements. Classes are performances based with each band ready to perform early in the school year.
