ENRIC MIRALLES was born in 1955 in Barcelona, where he studied in the School of Architecture and graduated in 1978. CARME PINÓS was born in Barcelona in 1954. She studied in the School of Architecture,
Barcelona, and graduated in 1979.

In 1990 Enric Miralles and Carme Pinós decided to continue their careers separately. Therefore, most part of
the works presented here were built after that date, and construction was carried out by each independent
office as specified in the credits which accompany each work.

They started their partnership in 1983 and have obtained, amongst others, the following awards: First Prize
in the competition for the Headquarters of Artespaña, Barcelona; First Prize in the competition for an
Administrative Building facing the Lugo Cathedral; First Prize in the competition for the New City Government
Building in Algemesí, Valencia, in 1984; First Prize in the competition for the New Cemetery in Igualada,
Barcelona, in 1985; First Prize in the competition for the Sports Centre in Pollensa, Palma de Mallorca, in
1986; First Prize in the competition for the Parque de las Estaciones, Palma de Mallorca, in 1987; FAD Interior
Design Prize for the Remodelling of the Factory La Llauna in 1987; First Prize in the competition for the Sports
Palace in Huesca in 1988; City of Barcelona Prize for the Archery Range in 1992; FAD Architecture Prize for
the Igualada Cemetery in 1992.
Since 1985, they have been giving lectures on their works in the universities of AA in London, OAF in Oslo,
BAF in Bergen, Columbia in New York, Washington in St. Louis, TAF in Norway, AA in Sienna, TV in Berlin,
Harvard in Boston and Southern California in Los Angeles, amongst others.
The partnership's works have been object of several monograph —Storefront (New York), Weisenhof
(Stuttgart), Haus der Architektur (Graz)— and collective —Overtures (Arc en Reve, Bordeaux), Spanish
Design in the 90's (Centro Pompidou, Paris)— exhibitions.
