Next Saturday, November 14th at the 5PM Sunday Vigil
Mass our new Parish of St. Peter and St. Mary will have the
installation of its first pastor, Fr. Madden. Although Fr. Madden
had served as pastor of St. Peter’s Parish, the formation of the
new Parish of St. Peter and St. Mary requires the appointment
of its first (and new) pastor. Msgr. Emmet Nevin, who is the
Dean of Rockland County, will perform the installation ritual as
part of the 5PM Mass. (The Archdiocese of New York is
divided into 19 regions or deaneries. Rockland is one of these
deaneries. Cardinal Dolan appointed Msgr. Nevin to be the
Dean of Rockland in 2012.) Following the Mass and
installation there will be a reception in our school gym. All of
our parishioners are welcome to come to this Mass and
reception. Please call our rectory office if you plan to attend.

El sábado próximo, día 14 de noviembre, en la Misa
Vigilia Dominical, nuestra nueva parroquia de San Pedro y
Santa María, vamos a tener la toma de posesión de su primer
pastor, el Padre Madden. Aunque el Padre Madden ha servido
como pastor de la Parroquia San Pedro, la formación de la
nueva parroquia de San Pedro y Santa María, requiere el
nombramiento de su primer (y nuevo) pastor. Monseñor
Emmet Nevin, quien es el Decano del Condado de Rockland,
celebrará el ritual de toma de posesión como parte de la Misa
de 5PM. (La Arquidiócesis de Nueva York está dividida en 19
regiones o decanatos. Rockland es uno de esos decanatos. El
Cardenal Dolan nombró a Monseñor Nevin para ser el Decano
de Rockland a partir del año 2012) Después de la Misa y la
toma de posesión habrá una recepción en el gimnasio de la
escuela. Todos nuestros feligreses son bienvenidos a asistir a

HELPING HANDS DINNER
For the last ten years Helping Hands has sponsored a
shelter program for people who are homeless in Rockland
County. Last winter 186 men and women were provided hot
meals and a place to sleep. St. Peter and St. Mary Church
together with 25 other communities of faith offered space for
this program. This Tuesday, November 10th, from 6PM to
9:30PM, Helping Hands will have its Annual Gala Dinner and
Auction at the Pearl River Hilton. Please call 357-3025 for
more information.
GENTLEMEN GOURMETS
Congratulations to the gentlemen of our parish who
worked on the dinner which took place on Saturday, October
24th. 27 men prepared food. Men decorated the gym; served
the food and beverages; helped with dessert; washed the
dishes and pans, and cleared the tables and chairs. The
music, provided by Tito Remigio, was very good. Three extra
tables were set up to accommodate of our guests. Our
Gentlemen Gourmets are looking forward to their eighth annual
dinner and dance in October, 2016.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS
The Religious Education Program is open from 9:30AM to
2:00PM Monday thru Thursday and Monday thru Wednesday
nights 6:00PM – 8:30PM. Please call 429-8824 for more
information.
We had our first Confirmation meeting in English for
parents and the candidate was in October. An important packet
was given out with dated information which is due by January
th
11 . If you did not attend the meeting, you will have to make a
separate appointment to meet Mrs. Cobb with her child after
class or on a Tuesday night. No packet will be given to a
student. There will be a Confirmation meeting in Spanish for
the parent and candidate on Tuesday, November 17th at
6:45PM in the school gym. This is a mandatory meeting. All
candidates for Confirmation were given their Saint report in
class. This report is due on December 7th, 2015.
Please pray for our Confirmation candidates as they
prepare this year for their confirmation. They will be going on
their first retreat this weekend.
There was a First Communion for parents in English in
October. If you did not attend this meeting, you need to go to
the office to pick up an important packet that is due January

5 , 2016. There will be a First Communion meeting in Spanish
this Tuesday, November 10th at 6:45PM also in the school
th
gym. There will be no class on Wednesday, November 11
due to Veteran’s Day. Remember to say, “Thank you to our
men and women who are in the arm forces or have served.”
Please continue praying for our students. We all need to
pray for each other.
CABALLEROS GOURMET
Felicitaciones a todos los caballeros de nuestra parroquia
que trabajaron en la cena que tuvo lugar el sábado 24 de
octubre. 27 caballeros prepararon la comida. Los hombres
decoraron el gimnasio; sirvieron los alimentos y las bebidas;
ayudaron con los postres, lavaron los platos y las pailas y
recogieron las mesas y las sillas. La música, provista por Tito
Remigio, fue muy buena. Fueron colocadas tres mesas extras
con el fin de acomodar a nuestros invitados. Nuestros
Caballeros Gourmets están a la espera de su 8va cena
bailable anual en el 2016.
CENA DE MANOS QUE AYUDAN (Helping Hands)
Por los últimos 10 años Manos que ayudan ha
apadrinado un Programa de refugio para personas
desamparadas en el condado de Rockland. El pasado invierno
186 hombres y mujeres recibieron alimentos calientes y un
lugar para dormir. La Iglesia San Pedro-Santa María junto a
otras 25 comunidades de fe ofrecieron espacio para este
programa. Este martes 10 de Noviembre de 6PM a 9:30PM.
Manos que Ayudan tendrá su Cena de Gala anual y Subasta
en el Pearl River Hilton. Para más información, favor de llamar

PROGRAMA DE EDUCACION RELIGIOSA
El Programa de Catecismo estará abierto los lunes a
miércoles de 9:30AM hasta las 2:00PM, los lunes hasta jueves
de 9:30AM hasta las 2:00PM y de noche lunes hasta miércoles
de 6PM hasta las 8:30PM. Por favor llame al 429 -8824 para

Tuvimos nuestra primera reunión de confirmación en
inglés para los padres y el candidato en Octubre. Un paquete
importante fue dado que tiene que ser entregado antes o el día
debo que es el11 de enero. Si usted no asistió a la reunión,
tiene que hacer una separado cita con la Sra. Milagros
después de clase o en una noche de martes. Su hijo tiene que
también asistir la cita. Habrá una reunión de confirmación en
español para los padres y el candidato el martes, 17 de noviembre a
6:45PM en el gimnasio de la escuela. Esta es una reunión imperativa.
Todos los candidatos de confirmación recibieron su informe de Santo
en clase. Este informe es debo el 7 de diciembre de 2015. Por favor
oren por nuestros candidatos de Confirmación mientras se preparan
este año para su Confirmación. Van a tener su primer retiro este fin de
semana. Tuvimos una reunión para los padres en Ingles, en Octubre.
Si usted no asistió a esta reunión, usted necesita ir a la oficina a
recoger un paquete de información que es importante. El paquete es
debido antes o el 5 de enero. Habrá una reunión en español el 10 de
Noviembre a las 6:45PM en el gimnasio de la escuela.
No habrá clase el miércoles, 11 de noviembre día de los
veteranos. No olvide decir "Gracias a nuestros hombres y mujeres que
todavía están o sirvieron en la militaría".

PEACE AND JOY CONCERT AND RAFFLE
CONCIERTO DE PAZ Y ALEGRIA Y RIFA
Last year our Peace and Joy Concert was totally new. It
featured presentations from the music ministries of our parish.
The performances were Spirit-filled and excellent. That very
night a new tradition was begun in St. Peter and St. Mary
Parish: a true parish Peace and Joy Concert. This year our

concert will take place on Friday, December 4 . Following the
concert our celebration will continue in the school gym with
refreshments and our concert raffle. Please mark the date on
your calendars.
El año pasado nuestro Concierto de Paz y Alegría era totalmente
nuevo. El concierto ofreció presentaciones de los ministerios
musicales de nuestra iglesia. Las presentaciones eran excelentes y
llenas del Espíritu. Esa misma noche se comenzó una nueva tradición
en nuestra parroquia: una verdadera tradición parroquial. Este ano
nuestro concierto se presenta el viernes, 4 de diciembre. Después del
concierto nuestra celebración continuara en el gimnasio de la escuela
con un refrigerio y nuestra rifa del tiempo de Navidad. Favor de
marcar la fecha en su calendario.
THANKSGIVING TURKEY DONATIONS
On Saturday, November 21st, our Food Pantry will be
giving out bags of food for Thanksgiving. We welcome
donations of turkeys, but our storage space for them is limited.
If you plan to donate a frozen turkey please call our rectory
office before you bring it in order to make sure that we have
space to store it in our freezer. St. Peter – St. Mary
parishioners, who qualify at Shop Rite for a free turkey
($400.00 in purchases), should get the turkey and bring it to
the register. The cashier will process the transaction and give
the parishioner a receipt indicating that they received a free
turkey. The parishioner should then take the turkey along with
their receipt and bring it to the courtesy counter. ShopRite will
store the turkeys for pickup by food pantry staff early Saturday
morning on 11/21/15. Thank you for your generous support.
FEAST OF OUR LADY OF PROVIDENCE
Our Blessed Mother is celebrated under this title at the
Patroness of Puerto Rico. November 19th is the date of this
feast; this is the same date on which Puerto Rico was
discovered in 1493 by Christopher Columbus on his second
voyage. The date for the feast was set by Pope Paul VI in
1969, almost five centuries after this expedition of Columbus.

Prior to this the feast had been observed on January 2 . In
the image of “La Providencia” the infant Jesus sleeps
peacefully on the lap of Mary: our Lord experienced the
providence and care of our Blessed Mother years before he
proclaimed the loving providence of God in his ministry. Our
parishioners who were born in Puerto Rico or who are
descended from Puerto Rican parents will celebrate this
patronal feast at the 12:45PM Mass on Sunday, November
22nd. They will continue the celebration with a party in the
school gymnasium after Mass. All our parishioners are
welcome to come.
PARISH CENSUS
On Sunday, October 18th, the Archdiocese of New York
directed each parish to count the number of people who came
to Mass on that day. On that day our ushers counted 1878
people who attended Mass in our church. The numbers for
each Mass were: Saturday 5PM Vigil Mass: 222; Sunday 8AM:
120; 9:30AM: 166; 11:15AM: 254; 12:45PM: 809; 5PM: 307.
Our total was 1878. This total is slightly higher than last year’s
total. We will have a more complete report in a few weeks.
This report will contain the numbers of those who received
Sacraments in the past year, e.g. the number of baptisms, first
communions, confirmations and more.
DONACIONES DE PAVOS PARA EL DÍA DE ACCIÓN DE GRACIAS
El sábado 21º de noviembre, nuestra Despensa de
Alimentos estará distribuyendo fundas de comida para el Día
de Acción de Gracias. Estaremos muy agradecidos de las
donaciones de pavos, pero el espacio con que contamos para
guardarlos es limitado. Si está planeando donar un pavo congelado,
favor de llamar a la oficina de la rectoría antes de traerlo, para así
asegurarnos, que tendremos el espacio para guardarlo en el
congelador. Los feligreses que califican para recibir un pavo gratis de
Shop Rite ($400.00 en compras), deben buscar su pavo y llevarlo a la
registradora. La registradora procesará la transacción y dará al feligrés
un recibo indicando que recibió un pavo gratis. El feligrés deberá
tomar el pavo, junto al recibo que le han dado, y llevarlo al mostrador
de cortesía. Shop Rite guardara los pavos para ser recogidos por la
Despensa de Alimentos, el sábado temprano en la mañana, del 21º de
noviembre. Gracias por su apoyo generoso.
FIESTA DE NUESTRA SEÑORA DE LA PROVIDENCIA
Nuestra Santísima Madre es celebrada bajo este título
como la Patrona de Puerto Rico. El 19 de Noviembre es el día
de su festividad. Esta es también la fecha en la cual fue
descubierta Puerto Rico por Cristóbal Colon, en el 1493, el su
segundo viaje. La fecha de esta celebración fue fijada por el
Papa Paulo VI en el 1969, casi cinco siglos después de la
expedición de Cristóbal Colon. Antes de tal acontecer dicha
fiesta era observada el 2 de enero. En la imagen de “La
Providencia”, el infante Jesús duerme en paz en las piernas de María:
Nuestro Señor experimentó la providencia y cuidado de nuestra
Santísima Madre, años antes de proclamar la providencia amorosa de
Dios en su ministerio. Nuestros feligreses que nacieron en Puerto
Rico, o que descienden de padres puertorriqueños, celebraran esta
fiesta patronal en la Misa de las 12:45PM, del domingo, día 22º de
Noviembre. Ellos van a presentar una fiesta en el gimnasio de la
escuela, después de la Misa. Todos los feligreses están invitados.
CENSO PARROQUIAL
El domingo 18 de octubre, la Arquidiócesis de Nueva
York ordenó a cada parroquia a que contara el número de
personas que asistieron a Misa ese día. Durante ese día
nuestros ujieres contaron 1878 personas que asistieron a
Misa en nuestra iglesia. Los números de cada Misa fueron:
Sábado 5PM en la Misa Vigilia: 222; Domingo 8AM: 120;
9:30AM: 166; 11:15AM: 254; 12:45PM: 809; 5PM: 307. El total
fue de 1878. Este total es un poco más alto que el total del año
pasado. Vamos a tener un reporte más completo dentro de
unas semanas. Este reporte tendrá también el número de
personas que han recibido los Sacramentos durante el año
pasado; como por ejemplo bautismos, primera comunión,
confirmación y más.
