el teatro kabukiza, entre las boutiques de moda del
barrio tokiota de ginza, es un equivalente a los grandes
templos de la ópera de la cultura occidental, pero en
su interior se reproduce una de las formas de arte más
elevadas de la sociedad nipona. Desde hace más de
cuatro siglos, el kabuki hermana las melodías tradicionales del país con la danza y con una escenografía
llena de simbolismo. Sus grandes intérpretes, más que
actores, son instrumentos en movimiento al servicio
del arte; cada milímetro de su cuerpo se articula para
ejecutar coreografías tan primarias como los sonidos
de los instrumentos antiguos que les acompañan, ante
el silencio proverbial del patio de butacas.
Asistir a una de sus representaciones supone admirar algo más que un espectáculo. Es también un ritual,
una ceremonia de elevada carga espiritual que no
renuncia al entretenimiento a través de su sugerente
estética. Su relevancia es tal que la UNESCO lo considera una de las Obras Maestras del Patrimonio de
la Humanidad, que la institución con tanto cuidado
selecciona. En un inevitable signo de los tiempos, el
edificio queda integrado dentro de una gigantesca y
aséptica torre, de altura más similar a la del resto de
rascacielos que lo rodean, a pesar de haber cumplido
120 años de antigüedad. Tras permanecer cerrado
debido a una fase de renovación liderada por el arquitecto Kengo Kuma, el Kabukiza reabrió sus puertas
en el año 2013 con un objetivo claro: acercarse a un
público más global. Su objetivo cobra especial relevancia, teniendo en cuenta que es un espacio casi único
en el mundo, porque en muy pocos lugares en Japón
se representa este género teatral: sólo las ciudades
de Kyoto, Osaka y otros puntos de Tokio cuentan
también con una sala de representación.
Antes de asistir a una de sus funciones (o en sustitución de ello), en la quinta planta de la llamada torre
Kabukiza se ha abierto una sala de exposiciones que
explica muchas de las tradiciones del teatro japonés.
En esta galería se puede admirar y entender de cerca
el particular vestuario de sus actores, algunas piezas
de atrezzo que han adornado el escenario en el pasado.

society. For over four centuries, kabuki has united

of Oral and Intangible Heritage, which are carefully
selected by the organization. In an inevitable sign
of the times, the building has been integrated into
a gigantic and aseptic tower, more similar in height
to the rest of the skyscrapers surrounding it, despite being 120 years old. After being closed due to a
renovation phase led by architect Kengo Kuma, the
Kabukiza reopened in 2013 with a clear objective:
to attract a more global audience. Its objective is
particularly relevant, given it is an almost unique
place in the world, because this theatrical genre is
represented in very few places in Japan: only the

The marriage of tradition, culture, dance and
music is so overwhelming that the experience is likely
to be cut short. Equally exciting are the rituals that
take place before, during and after an evening at
the theater. Few places in Tokyo exist where you can
admire a parade of traditional kimonos as elegant as
the one that takes place along the theater's carpeted
stairs. For a performance, theater-goers wear their
best clothes, as would occur in other parts of the
world for concerts of Giuseppe Verdi or Mozart. In

tuvo la idea de levantar un palacio en la mejor ubicación de París – 112, rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, a
unos cuantos pasos de Élysée Palace, sobre una calle
que aún conserva un aspecto medieval. Pronto, Le
Bristol Paris se rodeó de grandes talleres artesanales
y boutiques de las mejores marcas.
“The silent hotel” fue el apodo que ganó desde sus
inicios, por eso, se convirtió en el favorito de los huéspedes más ricos y exigentes de la época, aquellos que
querían “estar sin estar” (disfrutar de la ciudad al máximo, pero que nadie supiera que se encontraban ahí).

El primer lunes de cada mes, Marco Pelletier, Sommelier de Le Bristol Paris, invita a un cultivador de vid
para presentar sus vinos, acompañados de un menú
de cuatro tiempos, en 114 Faubourg, a cargo del chef
Jean-Charles Cauquil.
Le Bar du Bristol es, sin duda, otro de los rincones
favoritos de los parisinos y visitantes, que no necesariamente se encuentran hospedados. A cargo de Maxime

Le Bar du Bristol is, without a doubt, another
favorite spot for Parisians and tourists, who are not
necessarily staying at the hotel. In charge of Maxime
Hoerth, named Best Craftsman of France in 2011, it
offers amazing cocktails – some of them custom-made
for each guest – accompanied by tapas created by Eric
Frechon and DJ music from Tuesday to Saturday
(open from 5:30 pm to 2 am).
We cannot turn back time, it is true, but Le Bristol
Paris takes us, at least for a few hours or days, to that
time we all miss so much, a time which, despite the
debauchery, certain innocence was kept and good

with his elbow punching through the canvas. The
2-inch wound on the young woman’s forearm was
the reason Wynn found not to sell the painting. Six
years later, the same buyer, Steven Cohen, finished
the transaction. Marie-Thérèse’s biography, like the
ones of those fortunate enough to be captured in a
portrait, is a stroy that is still being written. The
collector is a guardian of these lives.
