GOLDEN AND SILVER ANNIVERSARY MASS
His Eminence, Sean Cardinal O’Malley, OFM invites all couples
celebrating their 25th or 50th wedding anniversary in 2016 to a
Mass at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross on Saturday September
25 at 11:30. Mass will include a renewal of vows. Register by

never attended the course Protecting God’s Children (V IRTUS),
please contact Nilvia Hernandez at 781-308-4961 to register for
one of the following sessions. The Archdiocese of Boston
requests that all volunteers take this course just once. These
sessions will be held in St. Mary's Religious Building, 1st floor.

If you can not attend any of these, please consider attending one
of the sessions being held at Our Lady's Parish, Waltham.
They are holding sessions on Thursday, August 25 at 6:00 p.m.

CAR DONATION
Please spread the word or keep your eye out for someone who
wants to get rid of a car. It is common for people to have to stop
driving because of eyesight or old age. If anyone is selling a used
car or wants to donate it to the parish please contact the rectory.
We will have priests in the coming months who will need to use
one. A car donation to the Church is tax deductible.

My brothers and sisters in Christ,
We have inserted some photos that we recently received from the
Church in Bainet Haiti. They are making progress on building
new walls. They bought the materials with the help of your
weekly donations to the box in the back of the church. Many
thanks for your consistent support. We may have a fundraiser in
the next few months so we can send more money down there and
keep the momentum going. We will keep you informed. In the
meantime, let us keep praying that the Lord will bless our efforts
to make a House for Him to dwell.

THANK YOU I
Last week, the parents of the Ugandan children organized a
Camp at St. Mary’s. They prayed, studied, sang, played games,
and ate all week. The children learned about Divine Mercy and
how to be merciful in life. Parents took time off from work to
lead the children. This year 14 children attended – a great start.
The children loved being together and being around the Church.
Thanks to the adults who gave their time and to the parents who
sent the children. There are plans to have the camp next summer.
Hopefully more children from the parish will take part.
THANK YOU II
The children of the Uganda Catholic Community under the
leadership of Gloria and Godfrey put on a wonderful
performance of African Dance at the McDevitt Middle School
last Sunday. Over fifty young people were involved in the
performance as dancers; singers and drummers. It was a great
event. Thanks to Gloria and Godfrey for their great work in
passing on their cultural heritage to the youth.

The Karolines and the children of the Uganda Catholic
community thank the parishioners of St. Mary's for their prayers
and support that helped make last Sunday’s show a success!
Without you we would not have come this far! Special thanks to
our pastor, Fr. Michael Nolan, for his steadfast guidance, love
and support towards the children's ministry and the community
here at St. Mary’s. Thank you Father Michael – may the Good
Lord reward and continue to bless you! May God bless you all!
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS
Do you have one hour free in the afternoon? Would you like to
join other adults in the parish listening to children read or
making sure they complete their homework assignments? The
After School Program starts on Thursday, September 8, and is
looking for new volunteers to donate one hour of time per week
between the hours of 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. any day Monday through
Friday. The children have really benefited from encouragement
and help given to them by the adult volunteers. Many of them are
really becoming good readers. Others are beginning to read for
the first time. And it is really hard to receive the Christian Faith
if you cannot read. For questions please call Kateri at (781) 5772262 or talk to Fr. Michael for more information.

Please help the Society of St. Vincent de Paul bring respite and
hope to the elderly who are not able to find relief from the
summer heat, and you will indeed find “an inexhaustible treasure
in heaven!” Remember the poor with your offering in the Poor
Boxes today.

My brothers and sisters in Christ,
Last Monday evening, the rain held off and we had a real nice
evening of music from the Big Band Era on the lawn next to the
Church. Thanks to Steve Taddeo and his Band for coming out to
play. Thanks also to the neighbors and parishioners who came
out for the concert. Steve loves playing that music and he is
determined to not let it die out or become relegated to the past.
There will be another opportunity to hear the band at an end of
the summer concert on September 19 at St. Mary’s on the lawn.

REGISTRATION FOR AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
Registration for Saint Mary's After School Program has begun.
The program begins on September 8 and runs Monday-Friday
from 3:00-6:00 p.m. The program is open to children in grades 28. This past year, the program has provided the opportunity for
the children to practice their instruments and learn to play as
well. We look forward to Maria Thekaekara's continued guidance as music director. After the 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Masses,
on the following dates, there will be a table outside for registration. Feel free to stop by and pick up a form and ask any questions you may have. The dates are August 7, August 21, and September 4. There will also be a table after the 1:30 p.m. Mass on

ATTACKS ON GOD
French church attacked during Mass, priest murdered
July 26, 2016: Two men with knives entered a church in SaintEtienne-du-Rouvray, France, during Mass and took a priest and
several worshippers hostage. The attackers – who identified
themselves as representatives of the Islamic State – slit the throat
of the priest, Father Jacques Hamel, 85, before police killed the
attackers. “The whole of France and all Catholics are wounded,”
said Prime Minister Manuel Valls. “We will stand together.”

La inscripción para El Programa Después de Escuela
de Santa Maria ha comenzado. El programa comienza el 8 de Septiembre, y correra de Lunes a Viernes
