Mallorca
De norte a sur y de este a oeste la isla ofrece a quien a ella
se acerca todo lo bueno de su tierra: Desde paisajes a vinos
y gastronomía, pasando por una oferta cultural y de ocio de
primer nivel.
Mallorca es tendencia, naturaleza, gastronomía, business,
náutica, luz y calidez. Única en todos los sentidos, Mallorca
es irrepetible. Bienvenidos a la isla de la calma.

Mallorca y sus paisajes
Llegar a Mallorca por primera vez es quedarse prendado
ante el espectáculo que ofrece la agradable intensidad de la
luz sobre el paisaje y el color del cielo.
Todos los paisajes mallorquines están ensalzados por la magia del mar. Un mar que conforma una amplia variedad de
puertos, bahías, calas y playas.
Población, sus tradiciones y oferta cultural
Mallorca tiene una marcada personalidad. Es un encuentro
de culturas y civilizaciones; una comunidad tradicional y cercana acostumbrada al paso de los viajeros que la visitan y
que han dejado sus huellas a lo largo del tiempo.
La calma y la discreción que tanto caracteriza al carácter
mallorquín han favorecido que la isla de Mallorca se haya
convertido en el refugio vacacional de personalidades internacionales de la cultura, la política y la realeza.
Mallorca es, además, la sede de la Copa del Rey de Vela
que, tras 36 ediciones, se ha convertido en la regata más
importante del Mediterráneo.
En Mallorca se celebran tradicionalmente una gran multitud
de festividades locales que hacen de la isla un punto relevante de folclore y cultura. Las fechas más señaladas son
la festividad de San Sebastián (patrón de Palma) -que se
celebra el 20 de enero con sus tradicionales torradas en las
calles de la capital- y Sant Antoni Abad y su víspera, una
fiesta que cada 16 y 17 de enero llena las calles de hogueras y danzantes demonios.
En cuanto a los museos, adquiere una relevancia más que
destacable la Fundación Joan y Pilar Miró y el espectacular
Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Es Baluard, entre otros.
Artesanía y sabor tradicional
Mallorca es artesanía y producto balear en su máximo expo-
nente. De hecho, el visitante puede adquirir auténticas maravillas artesanales que van desde el calzado de piel hasta
el vidrio soplado, las perlas de Manacor o la alfarería rústica.
Ya a nivel gastronómico, la isla puede presumir de la elaboración de licores de hierbas, de tomillo, naranja y de aceite,
cuya producción se remonta al siglo XV.
Pero Mallorca es también sinónimo de buen vino; por algo
cuenta con dos denominaciones de origen (D.O.BinissalemMallorca y D.O. Pla i Llevant), 70 bodegas y más de 500
marcas de vino.
Gastronomía y Repostería
Las reminiscencias árabes y la peculiar y exquisita mezcla de
los sabores dulces y salados están presentes desde hace
siglos en las cocinas de Mallorca. Un estilo que se da tanto
en platos de cuchara como en la repostería tradicional.
En salado, destacan por su sabor y su preparación el frit
mallorquí hecho con carne, patatas y pimientos o bien en
su versión marinera, el tumbet de verduras y el arrós brut.
En lo que a repostería se refiere, son muy populares las tradicionales ensaïmades, en cualquiera de sus variantes.
Estilo de vida y ocio nocturno
El estilo de vida en Mallorca, tradicionalmente mediterráneo,
combina el lujo tranquilo con el día a día familiar y la calma
diurna con el ocio nocturno, brindando al visitante su conocida hospitalidad.
Si se decide por las compras, tanto en la capital Palma
como en el resto de municipios, puede elegir entre tiendas
de lujo de grandes marcas y pequeñas boutiques con estilo,
u otras alternativas como los mercados y los mercadillos en
los pueblos.
Con una oferta para todas las edades, la noche en Mallorca
es especial, con un color negro azulado y con sabor a sal y
jazmín. Para disfrutar de las horas del ocaso nada mejor que
dejarse llevar por el estilo y el glamour de Puerto Portals, del
nuevo Porto Petro, de la increíble Marina de Port Adriano o
de las bellísimas terrazas que forman el Paseo Marítimo y la
Bahía de Palma. n

Mallorca and its landscapes
Arriving in Mallorca for the first time is like being captivated by
the magnificence of the light on the landscape and the colour
of the sky.
Mallorcan landscapes are further enhanced by the magic of
the sea, that interacts with the surface of the land and human
infrastructures to create a diverse variety of ports, bays, coves
and beaches.
The people, their traditions and the cultural offer
Mallorca has its own history, its own language, its own
accent and a distinct personality of its own. Our island is
and has always been a crossroads for different cultures and
civilizations. It is a traditional and friendly community that
has become accustomed to the passage of the travellers
of different origins who have left their mark on the island
throughout the centuries.
The peaceful and discreet nature of the local people has
moreover enabled the island of Mallorca to become a holiday
retreat for countless celebrities including Michael Douglas and
Catherine Zeta Jones, Jack Nicholson, Bruce Springsteen,
Claudia Schiffer, Annie Lenox and Eva Longoria.
A luxury destination that moreover serves as the home base of
Spain’s Royal Family, for their summer holiday, Mallorca hosts
one of the most important regatta in the world, the King’s Cup
Sailing Regatta, which has been held for the past 36 years at
the famous Real Club Náutico de Palma (RCNP) yacht club.
The Mallorcan people traditionally celebrate a large number
of local festivities, which, when combined with the national
Spanish celebrations, make the island an important venue for
folklore and culture. The most noteworthy dates include the
festival of San Sebastian (the patron saint of Palma)—which is
celebrated on 20 January with its traditional open-flame roasts
in the streets of the capital city—and the eve and day of Sant
Antoni Abad, a holiday that fills the streets with bonfires and
dancing demons every 16 and 17 January.
And as to museums, mention must be made of the great
Fundació Joan i Pilar Miró, the spectacular Es Baluard
Contemporary Art Museum, the Museum of the Palma
Cathedral and the Fundación March, among countless other
art galleries, large and small.
Handicrafts and traditional flavour
Mallorca is the quintessential land of craftsmanship, with a
wide array of traditional local products. In fact, the visitor can
purchase authentic hand-made wonders that range from
leather footwear to blown glass, the famous pearls of Manacor
and rustic pottery.
Gastronomically speaking, the island boasts its own production
of mixed herb, thyme, orange liqueurs and olive oil: liquid gold
with a tradition dating back to the 15th century.
Mallorca is also synonymous with fine wine, with its two
Denominations of Origin (D.O. Binissalem-Mallorca and D.O.
Pla i Llevant), 70 wineries and more than 500 brands of wine
recognised around the world.
Cuisine and Pastries
Vestiges of the Arabic cuisine, along with the peculiar and
exquisite mixture of sweet and savoury flavours, have been
passed down for centuries in the kitchens of Mallorca.
As to the savoury dishes, the frit mallorquí casserole particularly
stands out for its flavour and its preparation; whether made with
meat, potatoes and peppers or in its fishermen’s version. Also
remarkable are the vegetable tumbet casserole and the arròs
brut (dirty rice, so called for its dark color).
Lifestyle and nightlife
The lifestyle in Mallorca is traditionally Mediterranean. On our
coasts, peaceful luxury comes together with daily family life,
and the serenity of the day combines with the most authentic
nightlife and the hallmark of Mallorca.
Should you decide to combine your meeting with a shopping
outing, both in Palma and in the rest of the towns on the island,
you will have a choice of luxury brand stores, stylish shops and
small boutiques, as well as other alternatives, including the
outdoor craft fairs and flea markets in the different towns.
The nightlife, with a wide offer for all ages, is yet another strong
point of our lifestyle. To enjoy the sunset, there is nothing better

Petro, the incredible Marina at Port Adriano and the lovely
