I am a member of the search committee along with Kellie Light, Deacon Bill Schreiber, Fran Herfurth, Jennifer Dufour, Jennifer Geiger, Monica Ebelhack, and Rocky Reid. The search committee conducted an initial interview with four candidates on Monday, September 28. The search has been narrowed to three candidates. The committee will conduct a final interview and we plan to select the most qualified candidate by the end of October. Many thanks to Kellie Light and the search committee members for their tremendous effort during the interview process. The Family Life Commission has scheduled our third annual Valentine’s Party for Saturday, February 13 from 6:30-11:00 PM at Lake Hickory Country Club. Please save that date and plan to join our parish community for a fun time with fellowship, fine food and dancing. Special thanks to everyone that attended the Stewardship Discernment Forum. SALVATION ARMY SHELTER NEEDS October is St. Aloysius' month to collect toiletries and personal need items for the Salvation Army Homeless Shelter. If you are late, please come to the Faith Formation Office. Also, because of Safe Environment Policies, parents are not permitted to wait in the hallways outside of their child’s room during class time. INTRODUCING CATECHESIS OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD FOR PRESCHOOL Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a Montessori based, experiential program for children. The catechists need to be specifically trained and they prepare an atrium to help the children in their faith development. We are very excited to be able to offer this program for our 3 to 6 year olds. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd begins on Wednesday, October 14, and will meet from 1:00 to 2:30 PM in the Nursery building. Space is limited! We are only able to accommodate 12 to 14 children. RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS R.C.I.A. is available to anyone who wants to learn more about the Catholic faith, either non-baptized, baptized in a different faith tradition, or baptized Catholic with no further faith formation. You may just want to come and sit in for two or three sessions at first, just to see what it’s about. That’s great – drop in, no obligation, no commitment, your presence is all that’s required at first. We meet on Wednesday evenings from 7:00–8:15 in the Parlor. SUNDAY ADULT FAITH ENRICHMENT In her new series, “The Ten Commandments: Laws of the Heart”, Sr. Joan Chittister, OSB, encourages us to pause and examine how we are living our Christian Faith. Today’s lesson is Commandment 4: The Law of Caring. “Honor your Father and your Mother.” Exodus 20:12. We’re asked by the Fourth Commandment to look again at the way we care for those who, having gone before us, showed us the way. Join us as we continue the Series, What are the Ten Commandments? / Laws of the Heart by Sr. Joan Chittister. The prayer, lesson and discussion take place in the Parlor at 9:15-10:30 Sunday mornings.
