We received ten applications for our Director of Youth
Ministry position. I am a member of the search
committee along with Kellie Light, Deacon Bill
Schreiber, Fran Herfurth, Jennifer Dufour, Jennifer
Geiger, Monica Ebelhack, and Rocky Reid. The search committee
conducted an initial interview with four candidates on Monday,
September 28. The search has been narrowed to three candidates.
The committee will conduct a final interview and we plan to select
the most qualified candidate by the end of October. Many
thanks to Kellie Light and the search committee members for their
tremendous effort during the interview process. The Family Life
Commission has scheduled our third annual Valentine’s Party for
Saturday, February 13 from 6:30-11:00 PM at Lake Hickory
Country Club. Please save that date and plan to join our parish
community for a fun time with fellowship, fine food and dancing.
Special thanks to everyone that attended the Stewardship
Discernment Forum. We are in the process of creating a culture of
stewardship that will assist our parish in serving as an exceptional
steward of the gifts God has graciously bestowed upon us.
- Sincerely Yours in Christ, Fr. Larry LoMonaco

CHURCH HUMOR!
A kindergarten teacher gave her class a “show and tell”
assignment. Each student was instructed to bring in an object to
share with the class that represented their religion. The first student
got up in front of the class and said, “My name is Benjamin. I am
Jewish and this is the Star of David.” The second student got up in
front of the class and said, “My name is Mary. I am a Catholic and
this is a Rosary.” The third student got up in front of the class and
said, “My name is Tommy. I am Baptist and this is a casserole.”
XXVIII DOMINGO DEL TIEMPO
ORDINARIO
me impide seguir a Jesús?

INTRODUCING CATECHESIS
OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD FOR PRESCHOOL
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a Montessori based,
experiential program for children. The catechists need to be
specifically trained and they prepare an atrium to help the children
in their faith development. We are very excited to be able to
offer this program for our 3 to 6 year olds. Catechesis of the
Good Shepherd begins on Wednesday, October 14, and will meet
from 1:00 to 2:30 PM in the Nursery building. Space is limited!
We are only able to accommodate 12 to 14 children. We have only
6 spaces remaining. If you would like your child to participate,
please call Monica Ebelhack at 327-2341. The cost is $25 for the
year and follows the Wednesday Faith Formation schedule.
RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS
R.C.I.A. is available to anyone who wants to learn more about the
Catholic faith, either non-baptized, baptized in a different faith
tradition, or baptized Catholic with no further faith formation. You
may just want to come and sit in for two or three sessions at first,
just to see what it’s about. That’s great – drop in, no obligation, no
commitment, your presence is all that’s required at first. We meet
on Wednesday evenings from 7:00–8:15 in the Parlor. This
Wednesday’s topic is: “Sacred Scripture.” If you would like more
information, please call Monica Ebelhack at 327-2341.
SUNDAY ADULT FAITH ENRICHMENT
In her new series, “The Ten Commandments: Laws of the Heart”,
Sr. Joan Chittister, OSB, encourages us to pause and examine how
we are living our Christian Faith. Today’s lesson is Commandment
4: The Law of Caring. “Honor your Father and your Mother.”
Exodus 20:12. We’re asked by the Fourth Commandment to look
again at the way we care for those who, having gone before us,
showed us the way. Join us as we continue the Series, What are
the Ten Commandments? / Laws of the Heart by Sr. Joan
Chittister. The prayer, lesson and discussion take place in the
Parlor at 9:15-10:30 Sunday mornings.
