Las fechas se pueden escribir de varias maneras:

May 17th
17th May
17th of May
Aunque no escribamos el número ordinal o no añadamos la terminación, siempre se lee en
ordinal.
I was born on (the) 21st (of) May, 1989
The concert is on July (the) 17
th
Yo nací el 21 de mayo de 1989
El concierto es el 17 de julio
En los ejemplos anteriores, las palabras entre paréntesis se leen, pero no se escriben.

Se escribe: My birthday is on 8 December / 8th December / December 8
Se lee: My birthday is on the eighth of December/My birthday is on December the 8th

En inglés americano (AE) se escribe primero el mes y luego el día.
Se escribe: My birthday is on December 8 / December 8th
Se lee: My birthday is on December eighth
Los años se escriben sin punto. Se pueden leer de 2 formas:

Leyendo el año como un número, es decir, el año 2009 se diría como two thousand
and nine.
Leyendo el año dividiéndolo en 2 partes, el año 1210 se lee como twelve ten.
La segunda forma es más frecuente para el intervalo de años 1010 - 1999. Posiblemente
para los años posteriores al 2020 se vuelva a utilizar este formato.
