•800.000 km2 = 20 % of the EU territory. •MED regions GDP per head is under the EU average. •Only 10 MED regions GDP per head rise above the 100 % GDP EU average. •60-70% of the GDP depend on the service, business and transport sectors. The Mediterranean Sea has been playing for ages an important role to assure links of transports, to foster business and to help cultural exchanges among populations of the area and also among other continents.
