Need To Know
• The El Paso Chihuahuas remain one win away from their first Pacific Coast League Championship. The last time the Padres
Triple-A affiliate won the Pacific Coast League was in 1988 as the Las Vegas Stars & the last El Paso team to win a league
championship was the 1994 El Paso Diablos (Double-A Brewers) with their 5th & final Texas League title.
• The Las Vegas Stars PCL Championships in 1988 & 1986 each required a 5 game series to defeat Vancouver both years. The
only other time the Padres & Dodgers Triple-A affiliates played for the PCL Championship was in 1980 as the Albuquerque
Dukes (Dodgers affiliate) needed 5 games to defeat the Hawaii Islanders (Padres affiliate). The last 2 PCL Championship
Series have required 5 games, but you have to go back to 1998 to find another PCL Championship Series that needed all
5 games to complete.
• Ranging back to 2005, 17 out of 35 PCL Playoff series have seen a team take a 2-0 lead in the series as 14 teams have converted a 2-0 advantage into a series victory. Only 3 teams since 2005 have overcome an 0-2 deficit in the PCL Playoffs, all
3 series involving Sacramento. The River Cats beat Reno in 2011 & Salt Lake in 2007, but were bettered by Tacoma in 2005
when the Rainiers rallied to win 3 consecutive elimination games. Omaha's victory in the 2013 PCL Championship was the
last series that a team went up 2-0 & win in 4 games.
• Diego Goris has been a model of consistency for the Chihuahuas offense during the postseason. Goris is the only Chihuahua to record at least one hit in each of El Paso's 7 playoff games while he has driven in at least one run in 6 out of 7
contests. His 8 total RBI is the 2nd-most during the 2016 PCL Playoffs & is tied for the most among players participating
in the PCL Championship Series.
• Hunter Renfroe & Oklahoma City's Micah Johnson have each scored a playoff-high 9 runs. Despite having a slow start to
the Pacific Conference Finals, Renfroe has managed to score at least one run in 6 of El Paso's 7 playoff games. Renfroe also
led El Paso in runs scored during the 2015 playoffs.
• Patrick Kivlehan's solo home run in the 2nd inning of Game 3 was just the 2nd HR the Chihuahuas have ever hit at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. El Paso did not hit any home runs when they visited Oklahoma City earlier this season in August.
The only other roundtripper by a Chihuahuas player in Oklahoma City was hit by Cody Decker on August 22, 2014.
• El Paso's pitching staff has been remarkable during the playoffs. The 8 walks Chihuahuas pitchers issued to Dodgers
hitters in Game 3 were the most in a playoff game this year & the most since they allowed 4 walks in Game 3 at Tacoma.
