and 11th, are Teacher Work Days
and there is no school. Enjoy the 4day weekend!!
Music Program
Next Tuesday evening, March 15th, is
the music program for 1st grade and
Ms. Johnson's and Mr. Keo's classes.
Program is 6:30 to 7:00 but students should
be here at 6:00. Arrive early to get parking.
The 2016 OnPoint Prize for Excellence in
Education is accepting teacher
nominations through April 8, 2016.
The 7th annual OnPoint Prize for Excellence in
Education will award nearly $50,000 to local
teachers and their schools. Here’s what selected
teachers will win:
Educator of the Year (K-8) – mortgage paid for
one school year plus $2,500 for their school

Educator of the Year (9-12) – mortgage paid
for one school year plus $2,500 for their school
k
Two Finalists (K-8 & 9-12) – $2,500 for
themselves and $1,000 for their school
k
Community Choice Winners **NEW** - Four
schools will win $500 for a special project of their
choice
k
We invite you to nominate a great teacher today!
Anyone can nominate a teacher, even the teacher

PRINCIPAL'S CORNER
Winter Term report cards will be sent home with
students on Monday. Your child’s report card will be
in a special envelope with the district logo. Please
sign and return the empty envelope so that we know
you received it. The report card is yours to keep. If
you do not receive your child’s report card, or if you
have questions, please contact your child’s teacher.
State testing will begin soon for 3rd, 4th and 5th
graders! Fifth graders will begin with the OAKS
Science test when we return from Spring Break. We
have a complex schedule beginning April 4th for
each 3rd-5th grade class to take the Smarter
Balanced English Language Arts and Math tests that
is designed to give students the time they will need
to do their best. Watch for details about your child’s
test schedule to come from your child’s teacher. We
ask that you ensure your child comes to school
every day, prepared to give his/her best effort!

Parent Requests For IN-DISTRICT Transfers
Accepted March 1-31, 2016 * Deadline is March 31, 2016
The Gresham-Barlow School District will accept in-district transfer requests for the 2016-2017
school year during the month of March only. If you live within the district and want your child
to attend a Gresham-Barlow school outside of your attendance area, you need an in-district
transfer. If your student currently has an in-district transfer and is moving from elementary to
middle or middle to high please submit a new request.
Transfer request forms will be available Tuesday, March 1, 2016 from (1) the main office at any
GBSD school, (2) the district office, or (3) the district website: http://gresham.k12.or.us see
Parent Resources. Your completed form can be dropped off at any GBSD school, faxed to (503)
661-1589, mailed to the district office at 1331 NW Eastman Parkway, Gresham 97030, or
emailed to [email protected] in time to arrive by March 31, 2016.
You will be notified in writing after review of all requests. Please note: kindergarten and first
grade requests may not be decided upon until late summer after elementary registration. For
further information, contact the Gresham-Barlow School District Office at 503-261-4550,
attention Stephanie for elementary and Pat for secondary grades.
Solicitud de los padres para Transferencias DENTRO DEL DISTRITO
Se aceptan del 1º al 31 de Marzo del 2016 * Hay plazo hasta el 31 de Marzo del 2016
El Distrito Escolar Gresham-Barlow aceptará solicitudes para transferencias dentro del distrito
para el año escolar 2016-2017 durante el mes de Marzo solamente. Si ustedes viven adentro del
distrito y quieren que su hijo(a) asista a una de las escuelas de Gresham-Barlow afuera del área
de su vecindario, necesitan una solicitud de transferencia del distrito. Si su estudiante tiene una
transferencia dentro del distrito corrientemente y pasará de primaria a secundaria o de secundaria
a preparatoria ustedes deben entregar una nueva solicitud.
Formularios de solicitud para transferencias estarán disponibles el Martes 1º de Marzo del 2016
(1) en la oficina principal de cualquier escuela de GBSD, (2) en la oficina del distrito o (3) el
sitio web del distrito: http://gresham.k12.or.us vean “Recursos para padres”. Su formulario
completado puede ser dejado en cualquier escuela de GBSD, enviado por FAX al (503) 6611589, o mandado por correo a la oficina del distrito 1331 NW Eastman Parkway, Gresham
97030 o a [email protected] para que llegue en la fecha del 31 de Marzo del 2016.
