Observemos algunos ejemplos de oraciones afirmativas, negativas y preguntas:
EJEMPLOS:
Oraciones afirmativas o positivas:
I was talking. (Estaba hablando.)
He was eating. (Estaba comiendo.)
They were learning. (Estaban aprendiendo.)
Oraciones Negativas: La forma negativa se construye colocando la partícula NOT después del verbo TO
BE.
I was not [wasn’t] talking. (No estaba hablando.)
He was not [wasn’t] eating. (No estaba comiendo.)
They were not [weren’t] learning. (No estaban aprendiendo.)
Forma de preguntas:
Were you talking? (¿Estabas hablando?)
Was he eating? (¿Estaba comiendo?)
Were they learning? (¿Estaban aprendiendo?)
EJEMPLOS:
When I left, he was studying the lesson.
[ 14 ]
They were singing when I broke the window.
–ing)
Ahora practiquemos con algunos ejercicios!

stories in our village. The most horrible story is about two women who were killed by a murderer while they (5)
___________________ (work) on their house. Maybe it was them? We thought about running away when one of
the people said my name. It was my brother Mario – he (6) ___________________ (wait) for me to come home!

Science Fiction Facts
The TV program Science Fiction Facts interviewed Patricia Smith about her incredible experience last week.
• Presenter: Patricia, tell us exactly what happened.
• Patricia: Well, it was 3.25 p.m. on Sunday, 21st March, and I was sitting outside a Café in Southward, a quiet village. It was a bit cloudy and I was having a cup of tea with my friend, Michael Ford.
Suddenly we heard a strange noise! There was a round, yellow object in the sky! It was a spaceship! • Presenter: Wow! What happened next?
• Patricia: The spaceship landed only 100 metres from us and an alien got out! It had a red body and
a yellow head. There was a strange yellow light everywhere. It was amazing! Michael was
looking for his camera when the alien just disappeared!
• Presenter: Oh no! Patricia . We couldn’t believe it!
1 What was the date when this happened? ________________________________________________

Sesión 2
Topics:
• Pasado Continuo o Progresivo vs Pasado Simple
• El uso de when / while
continuo o progresivo.
Ejemplos:
I was taking a shower while my mom prepared the dinner
While I was walking, I found a wallet on the floor
otra.
Ejemplos:
I was watching TV when the phone rang
Estaba viendo televisión cuando el teléfono sonó
When Alfred arrived, I was doing my homework
Cuando Alfredo llegó, yo estaba hacienda mi tarea

Peggy! How are you?
What are you going to do this weekend? Are you going to go to the beach? Lucky you! On Friday afternoon
I’m going to do my Maths homework – yes, really! I must finish it for the lesson on Monday. Then I’m going to
relax and play some computer games. In the evening I’m going to the school disco. It starts at 7.30 p.m. and it’s
fantastic! I’m going to wear my new jeans and my new earrings. They’re cool.
Are you going to go to Jake’s barbecue on Saturday afternoon? I’m going to take an omelette. What about you?
My cousins, Jade and Cindy, are going to come with me and in the evening we’re all going to the cinema. Do
you fancy coming?
I’m going to be busy on Sunday. I’m going to go ice skating in the morning. I really love ice skating and I usually
go with my sister, but this weekend she’s going to go swimming instead. We’re going to have lunch at my
grandma’s house and then I’m going to help my dad tidy the garage and the garden. If it rains we’re going to get
really wet!
See you soon, Kelly
